Getting over my fear

So, i have this fear or skating, yeah skating, about 3 uears ago i bailed hard and broke my leg, in three places, skating. Now since then i have only skated once, and i realised i have kinda grown to fear skating, now i want to get over this so i can skate again, i dont want to get into any hardcore stuff i just want to do some cruising, so im thinking of getting a longboard. Is this the best way for me to get back into skating, its more stable than a conventional skateboard so it should be easier, im not gona go bombing any hills for a while just going to the local shop and back on it etc.

So are my ideas good ones? Anyone done something like this before and could share there experiances?

Thanks for the help NS!

sound reasoning...

all your ideas arent bad nor are they wrong...

but you could also just suck it up, grab a regular deck and skate till you get over it...

a little here, a little there, and bob should be your uncle...

the best way to get over a fear is to face it...

meh...

just get a nice longboard. they are a lot more fun than skateboards. i would sugggest most landyahctz boards.

yeah, this will slowly move you in the right direction..theyre really smooth and if your just cruising, youll love it

good luck gettin over your fear

Loaded Longboards FTW! I've had mine for about a year and I love it. I used to skate when I was a freshman in high school or so but I kind of grew out of it I guess, so last year I picked up a Loaded Dervish to cruise around on and go to class and I would never go back to a regular deck. If you just want to carve around and have fun I would definitely look at Loaded. They're pretty expensive but from my limited experience they seem to be very durable and well made. In case you were wondering I'm a junior in college now, so I haven't actually skated in a few years, although I can still do some tricks when I want to haha.

Yeah man, you got the right idea there. The only way to get over your fear is to face it head on. Get as nice a longboard you can afford. Your experience of re-learning will be more pleasurable that way and when you get good again you won't have to re-invest once you realize that you had no good reason to fear it all these years.

Look into Loaded boards or Never Summer boards. They're my personal favorite when it comes to longboards. I have a Loaded Vanguard. That would be a good one to start on cuz it's more designed for cruising on flat ground or small downhills but still manages to be the msot fun i've ever had on a board. You live in Dubai right? I don't think these guys ship abroad but www.milehighskates.com has the deck on sale right now too. You can at least check it out there.

Hope that helps.

walk around with a skateboard and start hugging girls and then when the cops come youll have to skate, just like ricky bobby.

stop being a pussy and just skate. you broke your leg and it has you scared? i fell over 50 ft to my side, broke my back in two places and busted a rib, all because i overshot a jump on skis. i still ski without any hesitation. you just broke your leg and it's been three years... just get over it and go skating.

There are some Land Yachtz and some Extreme sports channel longboards(wtf?) so ill probably go with the land yachtz, thanks for the help + karma

once you get back into it you will overcome your fear. its the same for just about everything

i just bought a longboard a couple days to cruise around campus, by far one of the best investments ive made! So yeah, get a longboard
