Unfortunatley my last day for the season i tore my acl and i feel my body is on its demise as im turning 26 in a couple days its depressing as hell... my brain sais give her but my body sais dont ... i cant feel my 3 left figures on my left hand im shure its from skiing... god damnit ....... what should i do just be a noob skiier from here on out or what...acl is fucking killing me... god damnit..!!!!!!! got really no oportunity to switch over to the big mnt....

ski0rdie?

no, but seriously put as much time as possible into rehabbing your knee and you should be fine next season.. my brother whos 25 tore his acl at the beginning of last winter and is absolutely fine by now. he skis with some sort of brace just as a precaution but thats about it.

I had a lot of older friends around you age who did there knees and have all come made a full recovery, do what you feel like you'll enjoy more. I fucked my back up last season and did have a real mental block for a while, started thinking, "why am I doing this when I can hurt myself so easily?" but I kinda overcame that, just focused on enjoying myself shredding the mountain and having a break from the park. I've since got back in the park and I'm no longer worried about falling or getting hurt.

Just go out and enjoy yourself, you knee will get better.

I'm 30- still shred.... No knee injuries to date but broke collarbones etc... Trust me you'll find it hard to give up, it's just because it's end of season- wait till next season, around November - you'll be pysched to get on it again. Rehabbing properly is the truth though, you still have much riding left in you young grasshopper.....

are you kidding? sack up pussy. I'm 28, had ACL, femur and some other shit happen and I'm riding stronger than ever.

go west again and get into the mountains and try some REAL skiing where you have to earn your turns. way more balanced workout and you get primo conditions most often.

Big injuries certainly make you question your dedication to the sport and as we get older the longer it takes to rehab and the longer the repercussions stay with us. But don't hang up the skis. Just adjust your skiing. For example... I broke my femur doing urban rails. Now I don't touch urban anymore. Broke my back in the park, so now I just play it easy in it. I don't do outrageous things, just have fun with my old tricks. But big mtn/backcountry, that's my new area to shine. So just rehab, adjust, and you'll have decades left in you.

Remember we use skiing as an adjective not a verb.

It isn't "I ski." It is "I AM A SKIER!"

Skiing is who you are, it'll never leave you.

park is painful. and its going to get more painful the older you get unless you start exercising and getting in shape. look at radio ron he kills it but he trains so hard for it. if i were you i would slowly fade out of the park and just start charging. become a powder hound

Anybody watch the Eddie Aikau memorial comp at Waimea this year? Eddie's brother Clyde Aikau was paddling into 50 foot waves..... that's about 100 times more dangerous, physical, and gnarly than anything anyone has ever done in a park.... and he's 60 years old.
Hang 'em up at 26? You fucking kidding?

im 25, been skiing since I was 5, and finally making progress, don't give up dude. Now if only I could stop being a p*ssy and get my switch 1s, 3s and switch 3s down.

Im a few years younger than you, but ive had some pretty shitty luck with my knee that has really held me back, the first two seasons after were ok, but this season was not at all, I was gettting back from my second surgery, and i got maybe 10 days in, and none of them were chargin days.

That sucks, and really, the more I think about it, the more sure i am that it is something i cant let go of, not just skiing, but skiing well, and progressing. I started a career job, which i love, but i had very little time to stay active and in shape, and i was in no condition to be able to ski what i wanted to, so i didnt.

when your a kid, you dont need to work for it like you do as an adult, and while ive never really been a fan of training and working out (I just stayed extremely active and never let myself go), it really is the key to being able to continue doing what you love. and mentality, that is way more of an issue than most people imagine. yea, skiing can be painful, and thats why as you get older you have to be even stronger mentally and physically to keep it up, you always have to keep fighting. but with a positive attitude and enough effort, anything is possible, the question is just whether you want it enough.

but like ______ up there said (sorry i didnt quote it), we ARE skiers, we dont just ski. obviously skiing is critical to you, your user name is Ski or die. so yeah man, the balls in your court. if you want it bad enough, you can have it.
