I'm 13 and i want to go to a grouplove concert in rochester ny at the water street music hall. I need to know if they will let me in, my friend that I'm going with is 16, but could pass for 19. I need to know how to show my mom that they will let me in. Please HELP

Is there an age limit of 16 for the venue?

Just ask her nicely and tell that you will be a mature, well-behaved 13 year old and that you'll be home before 11PM

just do this, except with 16. I'm sure it'll work.

here concerts are either 'all ages' or '19+'. I'd imagine it's the same in NY, where their either 'all ages' or '21+' possibly '18+'.

if your 16 year old friend can get in, I'd assume it's all ages and you will have no problem

Just have her listen to CHLOE and she'll be so happy that she'll let you go! Is the problem that you need an 18+ escort or what?

never mind, it actually is 16+. strange. well I'd say unless puberty hit early, you're out of luck.

yeah, why would a concert be 14 and up?

you can only come to this concert if you still can't drive! And also can drive but not smoke! And also drink and drive

Oh hell that's wicked then, just get someone to go with you. Don't you have an 18+ cousin or friend? Tickets are super cheap so I'm sure someone will be down to go. GROUPLOVE is the best fuckin band around, I'll be at their show on Nov5

basically your easiest and only option...

But seriously, if its 16+ they probably wont even care or question your age. They only make concerts 21+ because of drinking and what not. At 16 only thing you can do is drive. You should be fine as long as you have tickets. Just go.

I should know the answer to this, because promoting/concert booking is a career path I'm actually working towards & looking to get into. I'm trying to jog my brain here... I believe I asked a guy in charge of a large venue about why some shows have age limits and such, and he said it's the concert promoter who decides that.

The Grouplove concert in Rochester is promoted by After Dark Entertainment. My friend is an intern with them right now, and I'm trying to intern with them next semester. They seem like a really cool company. Call them, and ask them your question specifically.

Here is their website, and their contact info is right there in the box on the top right:

Hope that helps. Seems like it would be a good show!

I just realized after some googling that you should be fine. Not every 16 year old has a form of ID like a license, therefore they can't prove that every kid is actually 16.

It's probably similar to a job I had this summer, where I had to keep anyone under 16 out of one of the pool areas. It was supposed to be a quiet area. But I didn't know who was 16. As long as they looked 13 or over, they were usually OK by me.

Dude it simple. Buy your tickets online. Get them at role call and just walk in. Thats what I did at Mt.Edens concert and it was 18+.

Was thinking about going to see them in Toronto. But here it's an all ages concert. I saw deadmau5 which was 16+ and they didn't check IDs so I don't think they would check.

what the hell is up with 16+ concerts? how do they even ID that? show them your grade 10 student ID?not a lot of 16 year olds have licenses to show.

I went to my first metal concert when I was 13 and it was the tits. my 2 friends and I were the smallest kids in the pit.

by that I mean not a lot compared to an 18 or 19+ show. a lot of 16 year olds don't get licenses off the bat where I'm from.

i have never heard of a 16+ concert, but i guess it sorta makes sense because even if a show is all ages, most 20+ year olds dont really want tweens kickin around at chest height all over the place. no offense.

I thought you were asking for help on getting into at least 16 different concerts, and offering me free bumps of K if I got you inside.

Good luck, that place was pretty strict when I saw lotus there on my 21st a few years back. My friend wasn't going to litter and looked for a trash can to throw his empty water bottle in. They took it to throw out smelt it and said hell know gtfo. Was empty too but smelled of booze. He wasn't fucked up or anything either. Had to go back to the car and do a wardrobe switcheroo in the parking lot during a snowstorm in cold as feb.

Got him in though. Also before the show we were waiting for my friends in this lot. They finally find where we were. My buddy spun out in the snow getting up the small hill into the lot, the gate started to come down just as his tires caught, the gate caught in his roof rack and ripped off the hinges as he came flying into the lot. I may have been tripping and took my sweet one time use camera and used all the pictures getting him pissed off trying to hook the gate back on. Funniest shit.

In efforts of not to have the cops after us when we left had him call the local station after the show. They basically said fuck it just leave it. That's what we did.

Cool story hansel.

Explain that you are actually 16 in the year 2015 but you were sent back in a time machine, and that real time travel alters your age to the state you were in at that time. This is why you can't travel to periods which you have not lived, because you don't exist at that point and for that reason you can only visit those times as a outside observer without a body to use to communicate with the strangers around you. This is also natures way to keep you from altering the past and destroying the future world. Then also explain that you are really not 16 but this is all a dream and he is asleep and you will simply go into the show because that is the path of his dream and he must not fight it. Then mention that it really isn't a dream and everything happening is 100% real. That you were walking through the wrong neighborhood and smoked a blunt with a nefarious character laced with dust, and now you're tripping so hard that you think you're 16. And if you're sure you're 16, that you really are 16 in your head which means they should allow you inside because you're the age that's required inside and that's what counts. But then explain that you didn't actually smoke pcp, and you are simply a 13 year old that wants to get inside the show and has some money with his name on it if he turns the other way and lets you in.

Chances are he'll either kill you or let you in before you even get halfway through that.

Just tell her youre going to a GG Allen concert

But seriously theyre called Group Love. How the fuck would someone get in trouble at a concert being headlined by a band called Group Love? "Yeah did you hear Jimmy OD'd at the Group Love concert last week?" "Nah man thats fucked up man. Plus John got shanked in the pit and I heard that they were making people drop acid at the front door before they let them in"

they don't ID you at 16+ concerts. I went to a few when I was 14 and 15 and got in perfectly fine. Just don't act like a 13 year old.

You think this kid would get in?

There's something wrong about searching for kids with moustaches at 5 in the morning.

Per the venue, it's 16+ w/ ID or 13+ w/ guardian. You basically just need to find someone 18+ to vouch for you at the door and not act like a shithead inside.

saw this picture the other day and was going to post it as i was scrolling down reading peoples responses and you already had! solid post

Should come. I'll be there. They were here in the spring too and it was an awesome show. Plus tickets are cheap

in my experience, if you look 16 they'll let you in. your best bet is to come in with a girl or two on your arm, be nonchalant and don't pull out your wallet. if you're buying your ticket at the door, have the money in your pocket. a good 50% of getting into shows with a limit that is above your age is confidence. 21+ shows are a different story, 18+ are usually a bit more lax, and 16+ I've never been carded for.
