spending some time in my bedroom, at least 1 hour every day. Sex is a great way to lose calories, especially when ure gay.

Gettin in shape? F that im trying to get as fat as i can for the oncoming season. You need a little extra padding in the east if you fall on that ice.

blading helps cause you have to skate up hills and shit in the summer heat. Its also good for getting rotations down over stairs, but its gay so I quit.

I'm an anorexic supermodel. I don't need to exercise to get ready for the season.

mtn biking, weights (work on the legs) i find if the legs are the strongest, you;ll be ok

but i think everyone could have figured that one out

you are less likely to hurt knees if quads are strong

Umm Im not fat, being in shape isnt about how thin you are. It means, can you hike the mountain at 6,000 feet? Dont you guys prepare for the upcoming ski season? Are there any serious skiers out there who do more then flame? This site of full of trendy litte kids who probably hardly ski.

yo, work on your core muscles, back and abs are super important, mix that with any kind of cardio work out and you should be in position to kill it

Not to be a jerk, because im sure that im the one who's wrong here... But I never train before the season.

How come you wanna do liftweighting and running before the season? Do you hurt yourself less, do your arms break less?

Im, as said, not doing any training, but I am going to do flips and so, and probably gonna land on my head 2 or 3 times. Woul you recommend that I train my muscles, and in this case, why?

Comon... start dizzin away...

make sure you work your quads, abs, and back (lower back specifically). However working quads, don't neglect your hamstrings either. Make sure you do plenty of streching (yoga is an awesome pre-season trainer too actually), and try to get some cardio in. But remember that when you are working your muscles, do not only focus on strength, you want to work on explosive power and sustained power (perfect example, get into a skier tuck position, hands in front, and hold it for a minute, then jump as high as you can and back into the tuck and repeat this like 5 times - its a lot tougher than people think).

Also, if muscle pain is a comcern, make sure to drink plenty of water (to help the recovery time) and plenty of milk (if you are not lactose intolerant), the lactose in the milk helps to reduce the lactic acid burn in your muscles.

CORE !!!! Abs, especially deep abs - don't just do crunches, and lower back.

Your quads are the biggest muscle anyways so you don't need to work them - skiing does that itself.

For hiking you could work on some Lactic acid tolerance stuff like hill sprints or shuttle runs.

Also stretch heaps. Its no good getting all worked up into a tight little ball because the first fall you take is going to make something give way.

REgarding squating... I don know if this has already been said but be careful when you squat. It may strngthen your quads but it also messes your knees up real well. F you do squat dont squat real heavy. Its always good to run after you squat too it helps retain the strngth of your knees. Leg press is also is alot less strenuos on your knees.

i excersize my abdominal thrust multipliers.. but before that I retrofit my internal valve work so i don't blow my theliohydroxis on the level heads.

its all bullshit to me

When I was competing moguls still (like 4 years ago) I thought it was all bullshit, I hated pre-season training, but after 2 years of not doing it I realized that they were actually on to something.

Everyone who has taken this post sesiously has brought up good points. Work your legs, but work all the muscles evenly (quads, Hams and calfs), work your core, abs (upper lower and oblique) as well as lower back, work some cardio, still work the rest of your muscle groups too (Otherwise you'll be this funny lookin thing with huge legs and abs but with little chicken arms and no chest!) so work it all evenly. as well the explosive power is a good one, (jump squats are great) Make sure you stretch....alot. A good warm-up stretch to start and then a nice long stretch when you're done, this helps prevent getting hurt when you crash but also it makes grabbing and what not much easier.

To those of you who didn't take it seriously, you're young now but just wait, after a few years and a bunch of hard bails, your body isn't gonna recoup so fast and it's gonna suck, cause you're gonna eat shit one day in the park or off a cliff then the next day you'll wake up at 8AM, look out your window at 3 feet of fresh and be so sore that even if you do make it to the lift it's not gonna be an enjoyable ride down. If you start taking it seriously now you'll prevent that in the long run, you think Douglas has been doing this as long as he has by sitting on his ass all fall? I doubt it.

Just something to think about.

fuuuck. quads, hamstrings, calfs, core muslces? i know nothing about anything. what are some hot exercises?

oh yeah, Work with Free Weights as much as possible too since they work your stabalizing muscles too, Machines let you cheat!

yeah i do pretty much what everyones talkin about, cardio, legs, core especially and some exercises for my knees that my physical therapist showed me. thats the one thing that i think is really important, like others said is ones with the quads and stretching. because when you fall, its those muscles and flexibility that will save your ass from hobbling around on crutches. it also helps that i have to walk up a steep hill to go to classes so that helps work the back even more than weights or my heavy backpack do.

i used to play bball so i nver had to worry about doin it on my own. now i have to because im not playin this year

most everyone on here said to run and lift weights. these are important, but theres more too. i take hatha yoga (sometimes known as power yoga), this helps with strength, flexibility, and spacial orientation. Swimming is good for your entire body, the diving board is good to practice tricks on. I believe that jumping on the trampoline works the right muscles too give you a nice strong pop. Sex is the best ab and lower back exercise ever for guys. It could probably even help girls if they like to ride it.

Fear causes hesitation and hesitation causes your worst fears to come true

I don't really get in shape too much for the season...I just try to stay in shape year round, I just stay active and it seems to work out. I will say though that the two years I was lifting about every day, I got injured much less and was able to ski stronger and longer.

My future's so bright I gotta wear shades.

I miss my old signature.

this year im actually gonna work hard to get in shape for the season...i know what i gotta work on, but does anybody have a specific routine that works well? like how often to run, lift etc.? oh and i gotta get rid of a beer gut too, any tips?

I'm pretty sure it's so you can hike up mountains and ski down them without feeling like you're dying, not so it hurts less when you land on your head. I bet you're from the east coast. I'm from the east, and last season utah kicked my ass. But yeah, I'm still far too lazy to go to the gym or run. Running and lifting weights is not fun at all. However, I do occasionally swim to islands to jump off cliffs, and I sometimes work my right calf muscle when I'm longboarding up hills.

summer set-ups once a week starting out small then working your way up. Don't wanna pull something

aside from the ice, skiing doesnt take too much effort on the east coast so i dont really train at all
