getting an used car

well the person who owned my bmw before me didnt take good care of it and the engine blew up.. so it is time to search for a car.

there is a 90 integra that i was looking at for $3,000. the only thing is it has 182k miles on it. does anyone know how much more miles i could expect out of it?

i was also looking at a 1995 vw jetta VR6 with 82 k miles on it for $4,000.

i will probably go for the vw, if my parents can help me out with the price enough.

any other suggestions for a semi sporty car that is $4,000 or less? im a pretty big car nut, jsut oundering what you guys have to say.

also, it may be woth getting a new engine for my bmw instead. but i dont think so becuase if it was not taken care of, other things would probably go wrong, and also that would be minimum 12 hours of work, + the new engine. considering i can part the car and sell i9t on ebay, and sell the transmission, i think it would be betting if i got the VW

get an old benz 300D - diesle old and pimp and will run for 500k and cost like 3000 haha but not fast. Umm dont get the integera way too many miles...that thing will die. Vw also suck at high miles and breakdown. Look for maybe a old si or delsol or bmw with low miles or lower in your case

Check the reliability ratings on the 95 Jetta. If the Jetta is automatic (I sure hope it isn't) I know that the automatic Jettas had a shotty transmission for 95. I've got a 96 manual Jetta and I love the thing. The car is over 100k mi (forget how many cause haven't been home to drive the car), but it did start having a few problems, but it could also be because it's been teenagers driving it for the past 5 or so years. The key thing is check who the previous owners are, try to get a car from a little old lady - they don't put many miles on the car and they aren't hard on them either.

im looking serously at a 1994 bmw 325i. asking is $5500, and it has 169k miles on it. we are debating wether or not we are gonna have to get full insurance coverage if we get it or not.

183k on the acura might be a bit much. The clutch might be ready to go depending who's been driving...

ya, after looking up the acceleration for the integra, i dont really think i want it anymore. im going to go for this 1994 bmw 325i we are looking at, and if we decide it is too expensive, then im going to look for another e30 bmw 325i. they are such great cars.

K dude, if you seriously like cars or driving at all spot asking about all these little rice-bitch integras and shit, get a damn rear wheel drive machine...if you want an import...the Nissan 240sx is a good choice, and for gods sake get a stick shift...also and older Mazda RX-7...but I wouldn't just cause Rotary engines blow and the apex seals always go out and fuck you hardcore....an MK III Toyota Supra is a nice choice too...or get a 4 wheel drive truck....but don't get a Civic, Del Sol, Integra, or any other bitch car....the VW's are nice, front wheel drive but still nice. That's my 2 cents.

arem, i know the joy of a rear wheel drive car, i have one. im looking at a 1994 BMW 325i. i dotn see the problem with integras, as long as you dont get a muffler and put graphics on them, however, they are not made as well as bmws...

my 86 4runner has 220000 miles on it and it has never had to have anything done to the engine other than regular maint.

idk rockthe... the e36 will probably last longer becuase it is newer. i test drove it, and it is definatly heavyer, but it is also faster the the e30. tigher suspension then my e30 325i too. the e36 is the best looking car bmw has ever came out with asside from the M3 in my opnion.

Yeah dude RWD is the only way to fly.....or if you have a truck or 4runner or something 4WD....I know what you mean about integras too, they aren't a bad car....they are an economy car, and they're fine for what they are built for...namely being cheap to own and maintain and slow ...but these little fast and the furious kids think if they put on some chrome pipe tips...a 'cold air intake' and some boost and pressure gauges(that do nothing else you're running some kind of turbine system, and most of them aren't) that they have a fast car, and they simply don't...I like to laugh at them though.....bottom line is....even is you dump 20 grand into a civic(or integra, del sol, or what-have-you)....it's still gonna be a civic....there's a diffence between a sporty car and a sports car......Get the BMW or the VW....both german....both nice....BMW will be faster, but the VW will be cheaper in the long run...thats' what I think....BMW kicks ass though.

^^ yeah only downside is that if you buy and early e36 the front and rear facia and side skirts are ugly ass plastic colored, but if you get those painted, whoa can it look good, plus the e30s are easier to work on, but your choice man, and if you can get a good deal on an e36 by all means go for it

i would expect that if it is in decent condition, for it to go till 275k or 300k for sure. it is a bmw, and especially in the e36, i have heard nothing but 'those motors are bulletproof, it shoudl last ya 300k miles or so' if it is in good condition anyway. however your right, we are definatly trying to go for the blue one.
