So long story short i was fucked over by t-mobile and need an new phone and contract (not with tmo)I read a lot of books and magazines on my phone so a big screen is very good. It must be andriod or iOS mayeb wp8.

There are 3 phones in particular i have been thinking about.

-iPhone 5 (obviously)

-Samsung galaxy S3

-Samsung note

those are the phones i've been thinking about. Tell me what you're thinking NS, suggestions welcome.

iphone 5, but this thread is going to turn into an android vs iphone shitshow, just a warning.

Galaxy 3. The iPhone isn't all it's buffed up to be. They break easier and are more expensive. Plus if you're on Verizon, you can't get unlimited data.

iPhone expensive.. NO no new stuff... but alot faster, better.... Galaxy s III cool... but samsung got sued....

Casio makes this smart phone (FOrgot name) but it is like water resistant and dust/drop resistant...

There are plenty of dumb phones that are military grade too... but do some research...

+K to all. I'm pretty sure that this will be an android v iphone shitshow but no fanboying please, just facts.I've always had android but i feel like something is always missing, that might have just been the phones that i had before (samsung galaxy 1, nexus one and g1) but right now i have an dumbphone. I've been thinking going with the iPhone because they're made for the phone. iOS is made for the iPhone and iPhone is made for iOS whereas andriod is just an general platfrom on multiple companys hardware.

I have the s3 and i love it way more than the iphone. It's really all personal preference though. Just go into the store and play with them and see what you like more.

A friend has a Note, he says the drawing is gimmicky, and it's the size of a small planet.

Yes it will fit in most jeans, but it feels really awkward when walking, you have a gigantic slab brushing against your leg.

I'd recommend an iPhone.

android os is built around the nexus phones, then modified for the other phones, so hardware/software integration is unmatched on galaxy nexus. if i were you i'd wait for the next nexus to come out, it should be by the end of this year. if you want the note, galaxy note 2 also comes out around the holidays, that's basically a bigger s3, so you decide if you want that.

Iphones are great phones. But the screens break really easily and cost alot of money to fix(my buddies broke and he had to pay 160 to get it fixed only for it too break again in a week. He also paid aftermarket so they could make the phone green and reinforce the glass it would have been 200 for apple too fix it)

The s3 has 3 free screen replacements and with an otter box case if the screen cracks they will replace the whole phone which they wont do with iphones because they break too easily.

Androids also have the same apps as the app store just most of them are free.

It is also waaaay easier to get free music on an android phone

S3 all the way. Having used both apple and android devices i can safely say there is no reason to choose ios, unless you are technologically challenged

Owning both an iPhone and a Galaxy nexus I can safely say I would never make such a bold statement in which I would call one better then they other and sneakingly insult users of os i'm not in favor for.

The decision of whether to buy an iPhone or Android phone isn’t that simple.

Some people will value hardware or carrier choice more, while others will care more about battery life or mobile gaming.

While it should be no surprise that a person owning an iPhone might prefer the iPhone, and a a person who owns an Android phone will prefer his Droid. OP needs to decide what factors are most important to you and then choose the phone that best meets your needs.

except not the better accessories?? any charger that's proprietary, especially when it's proprietary to on edition on one brand, automatically makes them worse.

S3 for sure is the better piece of technology too. I don't have either and have no affiliation or bias to either company. It's just plain and simply the better product. And I have tried out both.

The iphone 5, without question. Even the 4s would be good its pretty much the same damn thing for half the price.

haha. picture is biased. For some reason it continued to list S III features but failed to continue listing iPhone's.

dude, if you really want to read a lot on your phone, go with the S3. The screen is out of this world, and the battery is fucking solid. my girl has one and also reads a lot on her phone and it works quite nicely for that. i don't know that i'd want to try and read a 500+ page book on anything smaller than the s3 whether it be an iphone, evo, etc. too hard on the eyes.

i know you said you're sold on the iphone, but also consider it's alot easier to pirate reading material on an android based phone. and everyone can save the bullshit piracy ethics lecture. imo, it's no different than checking out a book at the library.

Perhaps that came out wrong. I just think that unless somebody struggles with technology, in which case the ease of use of an iphone may be more beneficial, an android device offers much more in the way of features. There have been numerous times using my S3 where I've though to myself, "Wow, I wouldn't have been able to do that on an iphone"

if durability is a question dont get an iphone. i mean we all know that the stats of an iphone and an s3 (what i own) are very different going in the S3's favor at every aspect but my s3 has been swimming twice and dropped countless times and is still going strong. another thing is the iphone still doesn't have gorilla glass which the s3 has gorilla glass 2 which im sure has saved me many times

I've seen both the s3 and the iPhone and I think that retina is better (correct me if i'm wrong) I don't think that the screen size will be an issue for reading because i've read a 400 page book on an nexus one (little screen). As for pirating books you do have a point there. Durability won't be an issue, if i break my phone then it's broken, i'll just have to be careful. Android is definitly lacking in the apps and compatability of it with things IMO. i'm not 100% sure if i want he iPhone over the galaxy but i'm pretty sure

s3 will be obsolete faster. next month some one will come out with the next best thing, and then the next month.... and the next..... then there's the i phone. truthfully get what your friends have. thats what matters because that will make you more compatible with them when it comes to going over to there place and chargers, what will be more convenient? and also plastic vs. aluminum. all the paint has chipped off my thunderbolt and it looks like shit....

I PHONE 5 > S3

no it won't, because it's samsung's flagship. the next major samsung phone will be either the new nexus or note 2, the new nexus is most likely going to be a mid range/non flagship, and the note 2 is in a different category. also, when a new phone drops, it doesn't mean all models that came out before are obsolete. motorola's razr maxx hd is coming out, asus padfone is coming out and the specs of those should be on par, if not less than the s3. i don't think a smaller phone like the asus will have 2 g of ram and the razr is confirmed to be only a dual core, the s3 is quad. so the s3 won'e be "obsolete" until mid next year i'd say

i'm just speaking on regard to my HTC Thunder bolt which was also a flagship. i haven't picked up any of the NEW phones just mine which I have had countless problems with.
