Where is a good place to get rails? As far as round ones go i was thinkin street sign poles and the poles across the tops of fences (they can come in lenghts of like 30 ft), but is there any easier place to get them (home depot sels only up to 10 ft). And where is a good place to get a flat bar?

 
if u've got a bus station/loop near ur house and a truck u could take a hack saw to the handrails... thats wut i did, but then i lost it when we were driving from cops :P and as far as flat bars go, i have no idea. try like a junkyard.

 
up next to the bus garage at my school, there are about 100 30-50 foot long rails. thats where i get mine

10 foot poles are easy to get, sears hardware sells them for like $10, but i just got mine from street signs (poles). How much do the metal suppliers charge? And as far as welding your own, do you grind it down a ton or how do you make it smooth?

 
i live in philly and there building a new baseball stadium its sick i saw like hundreds a piping just lying outside the stadium in the middle of a lot just taped together it was sick, but i didnt take any cause i was with my fam. and i was lazy. they had like 10's-30 ft. of piping round ones real nice and new

At the menards by us, which is exactly like home depot, they were selling the top of fences like you were saying, in 20 foot lengths. They worked for us.

just go to a scrapyard or local town dump. they usally have a metel pile waiting to get thrown out, and they will gladly give it to you. dont steel that can only get you in trouble. specially street signs, thats a misdameener.

hey, didnt steal the street sign, i was walking up from my bus stop and saw a street sign pole that a new development had tossed in the woods without a sign on it because the replaced it with a wooden sign. The pole was very nice because it is a new development, so i couldnt resist, they were just going to toss it out anyway. I was wondering if they were stainless because i dont have apowerful enough welder to weld stainless steel.

 
fuck it, weld it anyway. That or just bring it to a automotive place and barrow a welder.

this winter im using a street sign my friend stole but for now since we have no snow i just skate it

hexum, if your're for real, let me know where the J-D bus garage is because im looking for some rails. I found some dis-assembled soccer goals behind a shed at our school but they really arent that long.

I have my own stock piles of aluminum, pvc, and steel tubing in all different sizes. Lol, thats how I build mine. Its actually for making huge radio antennas but we dont need it anymore.

someone stole two rails from the whistler/blackcomb lot 8...they were beginner flatbars and now they have to use the money that was going to build a huge wall ride for the highest level. So we get screwed...they said if the rails get returned by nov. 3rd they wont press charges, but if they catch you with one later they will...
