^this I would like to see. Saga have you ever looked into the cost of using goretex? Personally I woul be happy to pay say 500 for a longer goretex pro jacket. I love arcteryx pants the fit is amazing but the jackets are just not what I'm after fit wise. It would be great to have a new school brand offering outerwear which really could compete with the best brands out there.

Arc'teryx does make a longer fitting "trench coat" style shell. I'm 6'4 and the XL fits similar to XL saga anomie jacket. It is abit more of a slim/tailored fit

Yeah I have seen those. They are ok but not the best looking. I really like the sidewinder jkt but I have long arms and a long torso. So the lrg does not get to my hands and is short in the body but then an xl or Xxl just get really bulky rather then any longer. It's the same with norrona. I really like the lofthafen (spelling?) jkt but can not get the fit.

Patagonia was one of the few brands I found that fit well as well as actually some of the north face stuff. Personally though I would love saga to be an option to go against some of the bigger brands.

Who does? The tallest pro shell I have found was te Patagonia powder blower. Pretty nice coat but there just is not much else. Most other brands using gore stick to a traditional fit to keep costs down. Having a brand which made goretex pro in a freestyle fashion would be great.

But the Theta line of Arc jackets is I believe 6" longer cut? My Theta Ar goes to my upper-mid thigh and is all super bomber 3L ProShell. It's still not 3X Saga but it's longer for sure.

Also Norrona makes several longer cut jackets too I have one of their GoreTex onezies and it's fucking amazing. Narvik I believe is one of their longer shells, but there are others too. Bergans is baller and baggy as fuck too. Top notch materials, but again- you may actually have to wear something that *sort of fits* and I can't tell if that's what we're talking about or not here to be completely honest.

Isn't there also another company called NT3K33somethingorother that custom makes jackets out there? Maybe look them up.

Also Freeride Systems is all made in USA and I know Mike will make you anything you fucking want if you ask him.

My point was more asking why saga don't want to get into the real tech stuff. As I said before using goretex is not really about the membrane it's about the other controls goretex set. For a jkt to have the goretex pro label it has to conform to some high standards. It's theses standards I and quite a fe other skiers look for. So although saga have good gear without having the gore name they are losing customers straight away.

Out of interet have you wet worn one of the nt3k jackets. I love te look but hate buying without having seen and tried an item on.

I just wanted to say that nobody should get caught up in "GoreTex" per se. At all. I've used many jackets that are as good if not better and they are less expensive because it doesn't have the same name. There are SO MANY good options out there, if it is highly rated and it's by a reputable parent textile manufacturer it's going to work as stated for the most part. Yes some are slightly better than others at certain things but it's a sliding scale- no fabric is the best at everything and you know you have to pick and choose. Some breathe magnificently, some feel or repel water differently, some are different at wind blocking or passive insulation or are more durable on their face, etc. etc. etc. It all really depends on the individual's needs and wants.

Right now if you want full on tall tee steeze and just a shell, you are probably going to have to go with FD/Virtika or MAYBE Bergans... But again I'm not a big 3X steeze guy so I really can't help too much in that direction unfortunately and I'm not sure which is better for that look tbh.

I have been riding an old bonfire my hood for the last few seasons. I like it as it's super thin but comes to my mid thigh. So I'm not after a crazy fit like most kids here I just want slender but longer then a standard fit.

I agree about own brand water prodding too. I used clima pro for years. It's good but the items I have had which used gore just lasted longer in general. So I know gore is often over hyped but it has been the best I have found. Now maybe I need to look around more but I figure if it works why look else where.

Any products we make geared even slightly towards the more "tech" gear haven't sold as well as our other products. Its incredibly hard to justify jumping balls deep into a product line with nothing but a couple voices on the internet backing it. But of course, over time as things grow there could one day be room in our line for such an item as you are describing.

Keep in mind also when you say things like "a lot of people are asking for this". A lot of people will say "yeah that would be sick", or "I would definitely buy that". But when it comes down to it not very many of them usually do, regardless of the product.

When you spend that much you want to know what your getting. So maybe if you can have more distribution then maybe you can build th customer base who will actually spend decent money.

You're right on just about all of this. We do have a reputation for a certain style of gear and that is something we don't want to stray too far from. We like making the products we do.

You can't really just say "hey shop that carries patagonia and northface, buy a bunch of these super tek shells that we just made first year and have no sales history to back them up." (Actually we can do that with some products, but not really in a field we don't have proven sales).

And it's this exact reason why gortex may be good for you guys. It will give shops some reassurance that the products they are buying can actually go up against the more established brands.

Many time textile mills offer special pricing and incentive just to get an account like that on the books and I highly doubt Saga would command the same consideration unfortunately. The economics of doing that are astronomical to keep it simple. That's also why Columbia can give you 3 jackets in a 3-in-1 and it still only costs ~

Yeah very true. People forgot just how massive north face are. I would be supper interested to see what kind of price saga could do it for though just to see if it was an option for them.

I woul actually think with a bit of a redesign ie remove those big pockets from the front an cut down excess material as much as possible the monarch jacket could be a decent price. It would prob have to be standard goretex rather then pro but it would be a start.

I am skinny but that would be an athletic fitting shell for me at 6'3ish and 170-190 pounds, seems to be my weight fluctuation thru seasons

I wonder how accurate those dimensions are for other skinny tall people

That's all fine and good, but how much do you think a niche jacket like that would cost considering they may not sell very many? It could certainly be doable, but cost would be in line with those super pricey jackets listed above if not higher since this is a smaller company doing smaller batches- and using more material too.

I think it's a cool idea but just shining a little light on why it may not happen, and if it did you would likely not be a fan of the price it would command.

Also 20 inch chest would be that of a ~7 year old boy haha I think I have a 16" neck in dress shirts iirc.
