If you go onto any gear talk thread with someone asking what skis to buy like 75% of the people recommend Armada skis. It’s basically a meme at this point

no disrespect to ARV riders but the 96s are the most bland skis i’ve ever ridden

They have everything from skinny comp sticks to fat rockered park skis and everything in between so naturally people are gonna recommend them a lot. Most brands only make 1-2 park skis and Armada makes 5 or 6.

I had a pair of armadas the first part of this season and the bases were slow enough to really notice and it kind of took the fun out of skiing for me. Armadas are otherwise great skis in my view. They have a good flex, they carve pretty well, and they have good durability (possibly better than on3p). But it seems that apart from the edollos which apparently have a faster, more wax-thirsty base, the rest of the armada lineup has the s7 base, which is just plain slow.

i sold them pretty much brand new on sideline swap for a fair price and the guy who bought them loves them which is good, but for me, getting some revolt 87s with the same base volkl uses on their race skis was such a huge difference it was crazy. I waxed up these race tier bases with some fluoro wax and in semi warm conditions i was going like 50 mph on almost-flat cat tracks and if i pointed them on a groomer i would be going 60 mph in about 4 seconds. It was insane. Unless youve been on a serious racing base with fluoro wax in 25 degree snow you wont understand. You have to experience it.

i hate to agree with a guy who has "Lebensraum" in his username but i have to say i'm a little butthurt at armada about their bases too

ive had several pairs of ARVs over the years and always loved them but now i have the arv ti which are supposed to be this premium line of skis (THE ZERO LINE, "can't get them in stores!" blah blah blah) and the bases are worse than the ones on all my previous ARVs. kinda disappointed about that

Armadas are shit from my experience. Bought some brand new ARVS after my moment frankenskis were done for. And loved them but after 2 days of use I had 3 edge cracks and a compressed edge with a fat base dimple. You’ll find me dead before I give any more money to armada. I got some magnus 90’s after that and have literally rode them straight over Patches of rocks and dirt and slammed them on some huge disasters and they look new outta the box still no edge cracks either.

which year of the arv 96 ti do you have? I've got that ski too in the 2018-19 and I like the bases on them, much better than the other armada bases I've tried.

I have the 19/20 ones, the most recent ones, with mostly black on the top, a little gray and white

you have the ones that are mostly red on top I guess? That's interesting that the bases seem better than other armadas to you. Seems unlikely they changed bases between those two model years...mine are like light purple bases tho and I feel like those light colored bases are always slow but idk honestly

my mags lost edge within a week of skiing this can’t be true

That’s fucking crazy, I’ve had two pairs of mags and I’ve never had any issues with them like that. I rode some from 2019 that already had an edge crack and I used them hard and the crack never moved and they never got another crack. Maybe try and get a warranty cause that don’t sound right

I feel like armada doesnt "excell" at any SPECIFIC neiche in park skiing and that why they are not talked about as much as something like vishnu or on3p. They have a really wellrouned roster of skis

Yeah I think they've really gone the all mountain direction over the years. Even the Bdogs this year are a lot stiffer than years past.

As soon as I saw Dolan replying I knew his post would be something about the bases

More mainstream. I remember the days of getting excited seeing armadas. Back in the day, I was outnumbered by snowboarders in the park and I felt so core with my armadas (ha). Now, not so much.
