my next computer is going to be a mac, they are 1000 times better than this windows shit. they dont break as easily and unlike windows, are not designed to degrade over time so that they can run forever basicly. i have a mac from 93 and it still works without a problem... its just a little dated

i got the new imac, the swivel one, yea its pimp i havent had any problems, and i rock the old school ipod, yea the old one, so its super compatible, ipods are for macs thats the way it should be...

I own both, PC and mac... but I'm always on my Ibook. I'm getting a G5 soon, I'm waiting for them to release the new model G5.

 
macs are way everpriced too. not just the computers themselves but everything for them (software, hardware) and they suck if you want to change or upgrade your hardware (imacs atleast). I thik that windows, while it may run sort of shitty occasionally, is alot easyer in general for me, mac os is illogical and I find it a pain in the ass to use. just my opnion and I have respect for mac people becuase they are going agenst the norm which is somthing I like (usually) but I just can;t stand mac os! and Apple as a company is shitty becuase they make all their shit so much more expensive just becuase they can becuase they are the only one that makes it

Um...no, it actually runs unfuckingbelievably fast. And it doesn't slow down. My cousin's 4 year old g4 tower runs common apps (ie: IE) faster than his eight month old PC. So no, I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Macs are the shit. I have a 12 inch g4 laptop and it rocks. pimped it out with external keyboard and 19inch monitor. just got my bluetooth mouse the other day too. isight is a nice addition too.

I'd have a mac if I didn't play so many games on this PC.

Macs are nice... the only problem is that they are harder or impossible to upgrade because of their specialized parts (especially the imac).

im macs 2 and through. i hav a pc crap top which i dont even use, which is 10 months old. it runs slower than the original imac in my house, which as the dude above sed, can still run or modern apps. i also got the new imac n emac n the house which both rock. Ive loaded up my iPhoto wit my photos, n edited my movies with iMovie. X is also sweet. 'xp' is basically microsoft seeing how much better macs r, n trying 2 re gain sum ground

holy shit! what the hell? I had a G3 ibook and it was too slow to fucking run virtual pc and the games I wanted so I sold it and got a pentium 3 @ 500mhz. now I can play mech warrior 4! (this was 3 years ago) so no pcs are not slower than macs! infact Maximum PC conducted a test a while ago with the fastest most espensive Mac desktop and the fastest most expensive pc desktop (or atleast close). they ran Quake 3 on both and the frame rate was ever so slightly higher on the pc. Macs are for people who don;t know anything about computers becuase everything is already there and it works, however Windows is alot more versitile and you can actually get stuff done and 'MULTI-TASK'! I would say that at the time my G3 and my Pentium 3 were about the equivelant in terms of price and such yet me Pentium 3 is way faster than that stupid thing was. I jsut think macs are a gimmic, the main hype about them I see is 'oooooh, is so prutty!' and that is why they are for people who don;t know about computers too becuase if you knew where to look you could get a PC case that is 5 times better looking than a mac. on top of all that, they are just so overpriced, and what's more, everyone else uses PCs so you friend gived you something he made and you can;t run it on your mac. there is so much more software and hardware options for pcs so I just can't see the logic in buying a mac. (if macs along with the stuff avalable for them were more popular I might consider buying one but...)

that is just me, like i said, i still have respect for people who stick to macs becuase it is supporting somthing that is different and besids that alot of the people with macs seem to be really cool people too...

I can't stand mac for a few resons. number one i hate the fucking system and the way it operates, number 2, I can't stand only having one fucking button on my mouse. It makes doing shit so much more of a hassle. And number 3 i hate it becausse its all played out. People from where i live all they know is Mac. My mom works at an Ex Microsoft company, and all the faggots (literally faggots) have the 'ipod' and here little ibook laptops. And they have no fucking idea how to use a PC. They just like the Apple products because they are simple, and little kid freindly. Seriously people talk off pc's breaking down, its because you can't fucking maintain them. its not the computer 90% of the time, its the user. And also i hate mac because you can't change your settings and make your own programs and tweak the system like you can a Mac. Its all locked up and hard to do anything out of the normal with the system. You can't access the actuall componets like you can a PC.

Eck... go ask any respectable computer engineer if a closed architecture is technically superior in the dynamic market or research environment. *Shudder.* I think if some of you actually took computer or electrical engineering classes your opinion on the whole Mac vs PC debate might take more of a middle ground than being so skewed to either side.

Just imagine a world where all comptuer manufacturers produced closed architecture systems .

First of all, the new panther OS is not slow. even if you are running jaguar, you will see a noticable difference between the two. You shouldnt be really suprised that your G3 ibook was slow, they arent designed to be running higher programs like that dumbass, especially when you have alot more programs and space taken up on it. The compatability issues that were brought up is shit. I cannot imagine any file that i cannot open on my Mac that is run on a PC. There is a WMP for macs, download it, no big deal. And there was ONE test running the G5 against the newest Athlon processor that said the Athlon was faster.. another test said the G5 was faster, so im not going to take sides on that one, its debatable. The issue about Macs not being customizable, lol, first of all, if im on a PC i customize it because its FUCKING UGLY. On a Mac, you really dont have to do that because it looks fine to start with. And on another note, if you do want to change stuff, you can, its easy. You just need to know what programs to get, really simple. Macs are more expensive, but hell you get what you pay for. I replaced my one button mouse with an intellimouse..smart move. Sure, theres less games for a mac, but what the hell is wrong with you.. if you buy a pc and play games all the time, thats prolly one of the biggest wastes of time i can think of.. do something with ur life, thats pathetic. I like the statement of macs being 'played out'.. right ok, like macs are a fad, lol. The programs that are made for mac are the best too.. well designed, everything you need, nothing you dont.. example given would be windows media player. for the pc, its a huge worthless application that just gets in my way. on the mac, its small and subtle, and does its job. So does quicktime...mmm...

I own a 1.8 G5, and theres no way id ever go back to using a PC. Never crashes, super smooth, fast, never ONE problem, much better designed OS, better hardware, and wonderfully smooth capabilities with bluetooth and firewire. All you PC bitches are just ignorant.

I have a Mac. I use it in my studio. It has everything I need. It never crashes. I was brought up on PC so it took awhile to get around the different OS but now I love it. Look around the industry, Macs are the premier computer used in the recording arts/audio post-production world. That is for a reason. That is why I use one. But they do look cool!

Mac's aren't exactly the best solution for programming or engineering students. There is an extreme lack of engineering programs for Mac's, they aren't taking over that industry anytime soon. Even the Linux programs I've used in my engineering applications are subpar to the Microsoft ones. I don't think there is any debate that a Mac has a hold on the multimedia production industry however.

My friend has a mac, personally, i hate them. You can't do anything... we always try to send him videos and stuff but he can't watch them because his computer is dumb. Yeah i will stick with what i got/ :)

I have a PC that looks way better than your G5's ever will. I also hate how you guys say that the PC's always crash. Ive never had a problem working mine and keepoing ti going. You just have to know how to use a computer effeciently. The Mac computer can't do anything effeciently. You can't multi=task on a mac half as good as on a PC. I just hate all the bullshit colors and comercials. All they show is the casing and the monitor, and how 'cool' it looks, when really thats not why you fucking buy a computer.

everything on a mac is so simple but that does not leave much room to do what you want. I find that for me when I use windoes I feel free to do whatever I want, on mac os I feel confined.

he does have a point about that intelli mouse thing though, when I had my ibook I had a 2 button mouse, however the fact that all apples come with only a one button mouse shows that they are for people who don;t know as much/don;t understand computers. serously mac people never know what they are talking about and they aloways use laime terms to talk about hardware and shit.

Windows xp is the shit. its compatiple with everything, there are endless options, its super fast and stable, it NEVER EVER CRASHES!!! (my laptop hasnt crashed once since I got it) I admit before xp, windows had some serious problems, but I cannot find a single flaw with xp. Really I cant figure out any advantges to using a mac for anything but professional multimudia stuff like pixar and shit. My friend has a mac with panther and I cant stand using it. except for one thing, I really like the look of the os. So I put the panther skin on xp, its sick!!

Your right about XP my last labtop had windows 98 i had lots of problems with it now on my new Labtop I have XP I love xp it looks really good but It somewhat hard to get use to.

XP doesn't have problems?! umm....yaaaa... Why then, when it came out, did it have more security holes than any previous windows 9x os? If your computer is amazing, i'm talkin a top-notch machine, then XP is probably pretty stable, but XP crashes more than 3 times a day on my other machine. Right now I'm on a mac that's 4 years old and I run iTunes, IE, AIM, Photoshop, iMovie and sometimes some other stuff AT THE SAME TIME, alll dayy long and i can have the comp on for weeks before i restart it. The only thing I put into this was more Memory, which cost me like 50 bucks and was easy to install.

I guess none of us will agree. I guess some people like Windows and some people like Macs. Anyway, I'm one of the mac lovers, and I think if you haven't tried a mac for a little bit, you should.

Anyways, the argument that Macs are for people who don't know what they're doing is bullshit. I see the following breakdown of computer users.

Beginners who use macs because they're simple

Regular computer users who use PC's because they think they're better than macs

Advanced users / Gamers who use PCs for software compatibility and are in denial about macs being better at everything else

Advanced users / Gamers who use PCs for software compatibility but lament the fact that macs are better at everything else, and wish they had compatibility

Advanced users who use Macs because they don't need any particular software that isn't available in some form for the Mac.

Next. People who say 'PCs don't crash, you just don't know how to use a computer'. Bullshit. My friend runs servers and maintains them all the time (which is problem #1 because they go down for maintenance fairly frequently). Despite this, it crashes once in a while. We tried running a mac server off a 3 year old G4 tower and didn't maintain it or anything, and it works with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. Has yet to crash and we've done, basically, zero server maintenance. The G4 runs OSX Jag, while the PCs run XP server. Oh, and the G4 is actually faster than most of the P4s, it's funny.

Here's another one. My mother, who writes novels and does nothing else with her laptop, bought a compaq about 5 years ago. It was dead in 2 years, she didn't do anything with it but type and use the internet. My G3 powerbooks lasted 6 years, and my Ibook is going on 2 years and is still almost as fast as the day I bought it. PCs don't just start slower, they slow down and die WAY faster.

If you can't learn to use OSX, you're pretty much hopeless. I can do everything faster with OSX, it took me about a week to get used to it after using OS8.6 and OS9.2. Seriously I do not understand people saying they hate this thing... it's like windows, only it looks nicer and doesnt screw up. At a basic level, what's different, aside from the start menu?At a more advanced level, the Darwin system is just so amazingly straightforward (not to mention functional) that I've never had to frustratedly wish I could kick my computer across the room.

Skiinstead is right about one thing, though. Although macs do look pretty sweet, you can get PC towers that are just fucking incredibly cool. Alienware has awesome ones, and you can get custom cases to look like pretty much anything. My buddy's three newest servers look so damn kickass... but you're right, it's not what you're buying the thing for, it's just a nice bonus.

So if you don't want to switch, then don't. But you ARE using a technologically inferior machine. 'Course, if you need games, then that makes your decision for you. I have no games on my laptop aside from SNES emulators.

 
By the way the ^ thing is directed at the picture of the guy's desktop. Andy, that was a funny video with absolutely no basis in reality... I still like the Anakin switch commercial as far as mac spinoffs go though. Oh by the way, the multitasking thing: total bullshit, works WAY better on OSX than windows. Zero lag. Only way you can get that kind of performance out of a PC is:

A) It's brand new

B) It's a Dell
