Georgian College JibFest '08

hey all...

Seems like I might be organizing this years jibfest put on by the Georgian College Ski Resort Operations program. Usually goes down at the end of Oct.

If anyone has any design ideas or would like to part-take or even sponcer the event I would like to hear from you.

Cheers,

Mark

sounds so sick!

i definitly need to go this year

And for set-up it should be something like as follows

Start off drop and hit a FDF

Than you have a rail on riders left that is a Down Rail than a box on riders right that is a Flat Down

Than end it off with a butter box or something

they set it up on scaffolding, not an entire mountain...

anyways, have simple features that people can get lots of tricks in on, my vote would go to a mellow street style down rail, and the flatbox fdf combo from last year was pretty good, minus the speed issues. Just dont try to overdo it, simplicity is key.

for sure keep it simple

handrail style down bar, and a flat box.

its funner to have simple stuff that people can do crazy stuff on, then really difficult stuff that people cant do any tricks on

well there isnt usually alo of kids in the event

at least skier wise

im pretty sure they dont let just anyone sighn up

when i was younger my mom worked in the SRO and i remember going to this and seeing people throw down

Honestly those are GREAT ideas, and if we could do them all we would. Keep the suggestions coming. The commitee is up and running. Things are starting to go down.

Keep telling us what you want, and we will try to help you out.

BTW....if you work for a ski company, or ski shop in Ontario, or know some major company big shots, HIT ME UP!!!!!!!!!!

The more rider suport we have, the better this event will go down.

workin on it... SRO class is on summer vaction for 2 weeks till september, but we might start getting going a week before the semester starts...

dude you just described glen eden on any night of the week

honestly i have to agree with alot of your ideas though, as much as i said i'd like a simple setup before, its honestly just cause id want to be able to get as tech on it as possible. Having a bigger setup would keep it down to the best riders and make it more enjoyable to watch for the crowd. And the later date was a good idea too, it would go a long way in solving the event's history of speed problems, i dont know if december is plausible cause they use louie rails and i would think the hill would want them back by then, but i think at least mid to late november would be a huge improvement over october.

yaaaaaaaaa not happening later on the season... skool will be out mid nov. and most people will have already have moved out west.. plus you wanna have it pre-season too cause its more fun

Hell yeah for a DFD and a down bar

not to hard and thats all you need for a sick railjam

dont do gay 2 runs either its way chiller as a jam

2 run qualifier is gay, jam for sure.

and get rid of that bitchy girl who was there last year. i wanted to kill her.

I'm trying to push for a 2 feature run. A Flat down box and flow into a flat bar or A frame rail.

There is talk about not have it as a comp step and having it as pure jam session and just having prizes.

Thoughts...?

that could be sweet, i still think finals is needed though. have like a half hour jam session then the 10 best get another 15 mins or something.

and flat bar over a-frame.
