George W. Bush

wow, you are absolutely retarted. lower taxes and you'll get more bridges collapsing, no police, higher crime, more ignorant people, and worst education.. if it can get any worst than it already is. i mean this country is already in peace of shit shambles. i mean.. there are actually a lot of people as stupid as you! its fucking intense....

praise jesus i'm only a few months away from being an expat again.

ok and after we pull out of Iraq and they build more terrorsit camps to fly planes into the world trade centers then who are you gunna elect for president?

You don't need a terrorist camp to fly a plane into a building. Just microsoft flight simulator and some motivation.

We've done a good job of giving alot of people alot of the latter.

Jimmy Carter?

You really need at least ten years to make a fair assessment of how great or poorly a president has performed.

in the history of the world? I think thats a little extreme to categorize 3000 deaths as the worst attack in the history of the world, I mean hitler killed 6 million jewish people, you dont hear them carrying on about it night and day. September 11, was a very dark day in our history, and in my opinion, was the onset of what will be a long and difficult period for the United States. But come on people, lets put some shit in perspective. Compared to many other events in recent times, 9/11 was not on the same level.

I think the point that people will make about Hurricane Katrina is that, if the president was doing his job, by making sure that others were doing their job, Katrina would not have been the complete disaster that it was. I don't think anyone expected the president to fly down there and start pumping water out of the city by himself, but the federal reaction was late, and chaotic, and overall should have been better. The president is in charge, he takes the credit when things go well and should ultimately take responsibility when things go poorly.

I feel like, my president should be classy, intelligent, open-minded at fair, as well as an effective leader that has the best interest of the United States in mind. I think if you look at George W. Bush, he is none of these things. He can't speak effectively, what he does say is abbrasive, usually out of touch with reality, and always sounds forced. He consistently has staked his own political and/or legal wellbeing ahead of anything else, whether by pardoning scooter libby, lying about the threat that Iraq posed to the American people, and then lying about how great things were going when it inevitably went to hell. I don't trust this man at all, and I think he has largely failed the American people.

^^^^^^^

We also went in because Sadam was not only harboring Al-Quida but funding them...the only true problems I have with Bush is not sending enough troops into Iraq to begin with, and some of policies dealing with the oil crisis...he didnt divide the nation, liberal extremists did...not liberals, just liberal extremists...

Socialism would not work in this country...we are simply too large...it's the same problem that the union's are having today...union's started out great...but some members of union's slowly stopped working as hard and working with less quality, thus no one wants to hire union's....socialism=why work as hard when someone else can do it for you....

When debating socialism in politics...my professor took the side of socialism...one of the best students in class did as well...this kid who was trying to argue against them was just getting hammered into the ground by them...then I stood up and asked the professor if we could practice socialism in class....he asked what I meant...I said well, I think we should all get the same grades...jered (best socialist student) should get a C just like the rest of us, after all it is only fair....the professor looked stunned by this and changed the subject entirely....I got a C in the class...

Played OUT. This guy is a broken record, and all his supporters and detractors are sounding like broken records.

Yawn.

wow...no wonder our nation is going south

1. Lower taxes stimulate business growth, business growth = jobs, jobs = capitol returned to system, which = prosperity

2. You would like the government to fund/run education? Are you fucking retarded (yes if you went to public school). Name ONE thing the goverment has run well? Free market babe, two words learn em and love em... FREE MARKET

3. Lower taxes = bridges collapsing? explain the relationship, I would personally blame overly restrictive enviro-sensitive building codes for castrating our states ability to develop new infrastructure

go back to school, smoke another bong or move to fucking canada - anything but speak, your a nut

FOR THOSE of you who said we should respect our president you have got to be kidding me. George W has made every country in the world look down on us. We are now the bully of all countries. I am now traveling outside of America and realized that some Americans are liked, but for the most part people don't like us because of W. He is a horrible president should have never came into power and shouldn't be respected as a leader. As a person he is fine, but should not be a leader. Al Gore could have done some wonderful things for our country.

Oh? Well perhaps you should re-take your economics class.

1. Your lower taxes, trickle down economic view, though good on paper, VERY rarely works. You speak of businesses giving instant jobs, which is true, to a few people. Only MASS corporations provide enough jobs to leave an impact in the "system", and your 'prosperity' is in turn used to pay off the debt of the country. Excellent prosperity indeed, but personally, I would prefer a more practical use of money that I give to the government. Why not have the government provide free healthcare? I don't know if you've been treated medically for anything recently, but I got my wisdom teeth out a few weeks ago; $3000.00 bucks. For 4 teeth. Insurance covered it, but that's still rediculous.

2. What's your point on the government funded/run education? The government DOES run the school system. Why do you think you're required to go through highschool?

Yeah, your private school education has obviously done wonders for you, wanker.

You can't see the link between lower taxes and shoddy infastructure maintanance? You want them to reinforce bridges with asbestos or something? Jesus, get a clue.

can u back this up? NO

at least i have an opinion and think for myself and dont just accept what is spoon fed to you by the media.

and let me clarify that i think Reagan is the best president in recent history..

Socialism does not work??????? have you ever heard of countrys called sweden or norway???? Both as close to socialism as the US is to capitalism and they have the 2 highest qualities of life in the world.

How in the shit is that not working????

Socialism will work in Europe, but won't work in America because you're turned into a very different way of thinking from the day you're born. The culture in the States just doesn't jive with socialism. It's all about the individual, about what a person can do and achieve, the ultimate freedom of choice on matters pertaining to your life, and not a group mentality.

America would be fundamentally different under a socialist system, the creativity would be lost. Like it or not, greed and the emphasis on money does feed many of the technological advances and the spirit of entrepreneurship and optimism the States is so known for.

we live in a free country go move their if you want... how did Sweden and Norway do in wwII i forgot??? and how will they do if there is another war??? do you know how much a bigmac costs in Sweden?? try about 8$$$ because of taxes.. capitalism always has and always will be way better than socialism.

Sweden was not affected by WWII because they didn't get involved of piss anyone off!

Honestly, I might move there when I'm older. I hear the Alps are nice.

good for you knowing your history, but you made my point easer... sweden stayed neutral (not choosing sides) how could you not choose sides? one side fights for freedom for all, the other side kills jews, for no reason other than their race. how could you not choose sides??? we need country's like America and their is a reason we are the most successful country in the history.

Did America know about the holocaust when it joined WWII? Sorry, your point is moot. That wasn't revealed till much later.

what you red necked republicans don't understand about america is that we ARE a socialist country.. whether you like it or not. All our taxes go to things like education, police men, fire departments, public maintenance(bridges). The problem is that in nearly every other modern Western country, part of their social system is healthcare. Which we don't have. And every other part of our system is going down hill because taxes aren't high enough for wealthy people, why the fuck should taxes be cut off at a certain number? SO rich people can have more money?! And we're seconds away from having no more fucking social security either!! We are the richest fucking country in the world yet there are millions with no health care, because rich to pay higher taxes, bad education they can send their kid to a private school, whatever.

i'm fortunate enough to have gone to private school most of my life. But I'm not fucking flaunting it around.

you are the type of person that makes me hate this country so much.

You are a fucking idiot, Scandinavia is fucking sweet. They're part of NATO and the EU, so I dont think they'll be invaded anytime soon, and standards of living, literacy and healthcare is better there than in any North American country.

We have social elements in our system, but to claim we are socialist is stupid. By they way, do you even have any idea how much the upper classes taxes do contribute to your social programs?

bigmacs are fucking expensive in EU countries because they tax food with higher fats to try and keep their population from becoming disgustingly obese like this country.

Though the US has a better unemployment rate. But the difference is we don't have the 40% tax and Scandinavians have all of those programs to fall back on.

what do you mean my social programs? how can we be a country if we are divided into rich and poor. "my" social benefits from the govt. don't do me much.. why should we poor people have to pay taxes on every cent we make.. but for rich people after what is 96,000 dollars or so they dont have to pay anymore?! and bush cut taxes even more during his presidency! our country is never going to get out of its defecit.. or anywhere near even improving the defecit with that kind of system. and in the meantime social programs have gone to shit so that we cna blow iraq up.

where do you think they get all the money for there social and health care programs???? taxes taxes taxes

i have no idea what there tax rate is but i can assure you it is much higher than what we pay in American...

and if Scandinavia area is so good why havent you moved their???

and you are right they wont be invaded, all the powerful country's (us in the USA) will protect them.

im not trying to make enemy's here but someone has to stick up for the great USA

US military budget is about to or already has exceeded $600billion, what a fucken joke. What the US contributes to the UN annually, $304.4million,(if it pays it on time) is spent by the pentagon in 32 hours. That is fucken retarded.

Big difference between our roughtly 35% tax to the Socialist countries' 40% tax. Only difference is, they see where their money is going moreso than we do. We see it on T.V. with all the combat correspondants showing us.

That is not accurate at all. Saddam had no connection with Al-Qaeda or terrorist groups whatsoever. Al-Qaeda in Iraq formed in 2005, as a group dedicated to continuing chaos and instability in Iraq, through carrying out attacks that would look sectarian, as a way of fueling violence against Iraqis and Americans. Know the facts, or don't post.

You honestly cannot blame anti-war groups for dividing the country. They didn't start a WAR. Although, I suppose if there was no dissent ever, then things would probably run a lot more smoothly though, wouldn't they? I think you'd probly find North Korea a little more your speed, fuck all these liberal anti war tree huggers.

We entered the war because we were directly attacked by another country's military (Japan). Sweden wasn't attacked and therefore had no need for retaliation.

There is your difference.

I mean your just so dumb... I mean you should take an economics class before posting shit like that I mean you just don't know what youre talking about

I have the numbers right here:

The top 50% of wage earners in the US pay 97% of the taxes!

The top 10% of wage earners in our country pay 67% of the taxes

The Top 40 wage earners in the US pay the equivalent taxes as the bottom 40 MILLION!!

I would say the "rich" people pay enough taxes

"A common right-wing rejoinder to the leftist claim that the rich don’t pay their fair share of taxes is that “The top 1% of earners in this country pay 34% of all taxes.” I’ve heard Rush pull this one out on a liberal caller, and I recently saw a TV show purporting to uncover “10 Popular Myths” use the same stat to convince people that the wealthy pay too much tax.

But doesn’t the statistic make a logic error by comparing the size of a group in population terms (1%) with the proportion of taxes they pay? Shouldn’t we instead compare the size of the group’s wealth with the proportion of their taxes?

According to taxfoundation.org, the top 25% of all earners earn 65% of the nation’s income. And the top 1%? They hold around 21% of all the wealth.

Of course, our system of terraced tax brackets does mean that wealthy people do pay more per dollar on their income taxes — they hold 21% of the wealth but pay 34% of the taxes. Whether they should pay more per dollar or not is a separate question — one that cuts to quick of any socialist vs. libertarian debate (and don’t forget that the wealthy also have access to any number of tax shelters that your average wage earner does not).

The point is that the statistic gets thrown around with an unspoken implication: That the top 1% should pay 1% of the taxes. If Rush and co. want to make this form of argument, they should be arguing that those controlling 21% of the wealth are paying 34% of the taxes. But that argument wouldn’t have nearly the same impact.

One also often hears the accompanying argument that the threshold for entry into the 1% club is not high — you “only” have to make around $300,000 to join the 1% club. While true, this stat ignores the fact that many of the top earners are actually wealthy beyond almost anyone’s dreams. “In 1999, 268 of the [top] 400 [earners] qualified as billionaires.”"

These people have an obligation to the people they got filthy rich off of, and almost certainly ripped off. No one is worth 1 billion dollars, sorry.

This is why we need to get rid of the current "productivity" tax code and establish a "consumption" based tax code with exemptions for basic necessities. The rich would still buy the most goods and therefore pay most of the taxes.

I agree, I'll never file an income tax if i can help it.

We should be taxing gas/expensive things that no one really needs. If you don't want to help anymore poor people, don't buy another dozen fucking cars.

higher gas prices lead to prices of everything going up, everything always will have a shipping price somehow built into it.

As far as your other point, I think we should just have a flat sales tax on everything that isn't a necessity (food, diapers, clothes, etc..) with some way of getting rebates for people purchasing their first home, first car, etc..

Did you seriously just ask "what social programs"? After you just claimed the US is a socialist country? I can't help but put your intelligence in serious doubt. On another note I'm also doubting that you're even old enough to pay taxes, therefore I don't think many people are gonna give two shits (myself included) about what you have to say regarding taxes. And we're not in a deficit for your information.

It would help people/businesses have a little more discretion towards how much they're driving/efficiency of supply chains. Soon enough we're not gonna have gas left to tax anyway.

But I say let the free market decide. As fuel prices go up People will be demanding alternative fuel more and more and the problem will fix itself with time

Good in theory, but the oil market isn't free. It's price is constantly manipulated through war, threats, sanctions, etc. and both the supply and demand sides.

Throw a frog into a pot of boiling water and it jumps out. Heat it up slowly and it'll sit in there until it dies.
