I was just thinking of this a couple days ago but what kind of stuff do you guys think youll be skiing when you get older/middleage/father. I can definetly see myself hitting the park with my son, showing him the ropes and whatnot. i feel like the park will have a totally different vibe seeing as though were gonna be the first generation to have grown up in the whole freestyle movement.

What do you guys think?

I don't plan on having children since I despise them and I don't like skiing park so I guess I will be shredding all of the HUGE lines in CO somewhere.

maybe the average age in the park will go up. I always see some dude who has to be like 35 hiking a rail where i ski. He isnt bad either. Im not planning on quitting park anytime soon and im 20. I hope to at least make it to 30-35. But with getting old, who knows.

ya definetly same here. i think it would be really cool to see dads in the park showing their kids how to speed check and stuff. and if you think about it there wont be any gapers because pretty much every kid nowadays has had some sort of experience in the park and knows not to be hangin out on the landings. i think by the time most 16-20 year old ns'ers are like 30 + the park is going to be an awesome place for kids and adults.

i plan to be ripping through the parks with my kids when im 40. my dad still goes through and does a backscratcher on occasion.

sorry for the dub post. but ya i mean im from the east so big lines arent really here to begin with, but i can definetly see older guys hitting cliffs and backcountry jibbing a lot in a decade or two

but by the time ill have kids, the level of progression of the sport will be so fucking high i wont be able to teach him anything he wont know

I was actually thinking about this today when i was skiing. Basically I plan on trying to ski as much as I can for as long as I can and then bring my children up doing the same.

i think about this a lot, do you think that a 40 year old could be steezy?, or would my son just think im embarassing to them. maybe in 20 years baggy shit is gonna be gaperish and theres gonna be new trends

Going a bit deep here but you gotta wonder if skiing is going to go away from park onto something new, but im still gonna try to ride the park until i physically can't anymore.

I'm hoping that park keeps on developing and becoming better and better. If people stop sking park, then we won't have anyhting to teach our kids :(

depending on how old you are you wont really remember the beginnings of freestyle skiing, unless your in your super late teens maybe 19 or so or early twenty youll remember the tail end, people ranging from about 22-30+ now are the people who were actually involved in the origins of free style skiing, id say the majority of people on this site couldn't tell you who mike nick and people of that era are

theres a 30 year old dad at my local hill and he destroys. hes so frickin good. i have no doubt ill still be riding park when im older

If I have a kid, he'll/she'll be my backcountry buddy as soon as he's/she's fit to go out and rescue my ass.

i wont be showing any kids the ropes since i dont want any of my own but i will be hitting the park until my body doesnt let me. skiing will be way less fun if i cant huck shit

yea thats what i was gonna say. I barely even remember the early days and i'm older than quite a few on this site.

as for my hopeful children someday...well, I'll probably get them started skiing more just as an excuse to keep going myself, but i'm not gonna force anything on them. If they don't like skiing, then so be it.

my friends dad, who is like 50, rides park, and he actually throws dowwnn.. he used to ski big mountain, but his local mnt sucks, so he decided to hit the park with his son this year. hes getting better and better

because there aren't tons of little kids who ski park too? and that market is ever growing as more people make babies? the average park age will always be what it is now it's the younger generation that fuels the whole freestyle movement. thats who all the companies market too because they know that all the rich parents out there are gonna by there little park rat kids the hottest shit. yeah we'll get old and still hit jumps/rails etc but that doesnt mean the younger kids are just going to stop and leave us as the only park skiiers.

uhhhh ok. Thats not what i said. And if there are more 30 year old dudes shreddin park how would the average age not go up? Do you know what an average is???

They're learning to ski, surf or skate, or something fun.

Here's how I see it. I'm 17, when I'm like 30 they may have some crazy artificial body parts. More high tech knees and hips and such. Maybe even artificial ligaments, if they don't already have that now. I could fall on a rail, get up and notice the rail is dented cause my hip is steel/carbon fiber. The body won't be able to fail, only the mind, and unless I get my brains knocked out (knock on wood) I'm skiing fast and hard forever. "Yeeehhhh, back in the day I remember when Keeeveen Roollannnnd did three dubs in one pipe run, he got like a 94." "Where his other tricks all switch 1260s, that's a high score for only three dubs," says some little kid.

I don't mean turn into the terminator though, more metal than bone would be bad. This brings up a whole new topic; when will athletes undergo these procedures voluntarily? When they realize they've reached the limits of the human body, that it can't survive a triple backflip off a 300ft cliff with just bone. Who will be the first to say "these bones break too easily, replace the hip please." +k to whoever invents the anti shinbang shin implant. Will any sport even get so far as to need it?

Rant? Crazy unrelated idea? Yes. If you read all that and found it interesting, cool. If not, whatever.

I hear ya about the Ohio thing, there certainly aint much to do here besides park. Thats why when I do make it out west its such a treat.

Although MRM has been doing OK with the snow seeing as we have gotten 25-30 inches in the last 15 or so days; too bad the hill is too small to really use all the snow...

theres an older guy that works at porters i think in truckee.. ive seen him at boreal a few times and hes on some edits on vimeo with porters.. he keeps up in the shred

there's a guy in whistler who looks like he is about 40. he has this years dumont suit, and last years alphas. pretty tight if you ask me.
