Gear rumours 20/21

Well now you gotta tell us about the hotshot since you mentioned it.

Hotshot is replacing The Metal for next season. It takes what we love about The Metal's split personality to carve, charge and surf but beefs it up increasing edge hold underfoot and making it way easier to surf in deep snow (very similar to the improvements we made to The Friend two seasons ago that landed it as Ski of the Year in Powder & Freeskier). We're calling it The Hotshot because this is the ski you'd use showing off - purebread freeride goodness.

Name = The Hotshot

Lengths = 177, 183, 189cm (likely adding a 170cm after the first year)

Dimensions = 134 / 106 / 124

Radius = 18m @ 183cm

Weight = 2,300g @ 183cm

Mount = -7.5(ish, still dialing that in)

Price = $699

**Forgot to add it will still be utilizing the two narrow sheets of titanal that's used on the current Metal and Masterblaster.

I’ll make you a deal if you refer to skis as moist instead of damp in a review I will buy a blister Membership and donate $50 to a charity of your choice.

Is there a charity that prevents angry engineers with too much time on their hands from commenting on internet posts when someone doesn't 100% properly use a word? If so, you've got a deal.

I think it’s call Scientology.

Very moist but doesn't feel dead. It maintains a ton of life in/out of turns and when pressing/popping the ski around. Think more damp than an Enforcer, but less damp than say the Black Ops 118. It's a really nice sweet spot of being chargy but not kicking your ass if you're having a mellow day

The use of moist honestly made my day

Name = The Slacker

Lengths = 174, 181, 188cm (I think? Might be 176, 182, 188)

Dimensions = 136 / 110 / 128

Radius = 20m @ 188cm

Weight = ~1,900g @ 188cm (weighing in at about 2k now but have a few more things to try)

Mount = -6.5(ish, still dialing that in)

Price = $699

Here's a pretty loose description I've been working on... "The least nerdy touring ski on the market. This all-terrain freestyle ski is designed for uphill efficiency, while maintaining the reliable, intuitive downhill performance J's are known for. Built with the backcountry in mind, its weight-conscious construction coupled with a subtle tail notch for reliable skin clip retention makes touring a cakewalk without looking like a skimo nerd. This ski dominates the downhill, leaving traditional uphill specific skis behind. Smash, surf, play and have more fun adventuring off the beaten path. Go earn ‘em! #JSlackerSki"

comeing out for next year? I thought it was called the cakewalk, really like that name

Holy moly the hotshot makes me moist!!

Love the master blaster so for sure going with the hot cakes!

also anyone ski the white walker yet?

We were toying between Cakewalk and Slacker but Cakewalk didn't translate to other languages well so stuck with The Slacker. There's a ton of alternate meanings on it too which is fun

Yoooo guys, digging this thread up and wondering if anyone has any eyes on next years Futurelight steep series? I haven’t found a catalogue after digging around for a few weeks, there are some gear previews by Evo and the ski monster and such but no view of the full collection. Thanks!

There's a rad new women's one-piece but the men's stuff I saw looked like mostly carry over from this season (apart from colors).

Should’ve mentioned I’m pretty much looking for colors hahaha, got anything?

ah, yeah unfortunately my memory isn't that sharp, though I know there's a lot of purple and yellow/gold for next year, and on the men's side some sky-blue/black and kinda forest-green/black combos

Is it just me or does this ski seem to have slightly less rocker/taper than the magnus series..? Would be friggin cool to see an ON3P with a slightly mellower rocker profile.

Idk about the skis in the pic but I agree 100%. And I'm not sayin shallower rocker lines, just less splay would make me a fanboy for sure.

Vishnu always keeps it fresh. Not a swerve skier but dammit I’m excited to see next year’s stuff. Honestly wish I could’ve just thrown money at last year’s sports car wides.
