Gear rumours 20/21

Talked to the rep, the Sammy C boot is essentially an Ascendant with the shell plastic being the same as what they use in the Descendants instead of Grilamid, meaning it'll be heavier but much more durable. They also gave the Ascendant the new Tour Tongue liner and moved the wrap to this boot. I think he said the Sammy C boot comes with a 12 tongue but I could be wrong and it's a 10

Those black and golds are a thing of beauty, trying to picture what color top sheet would be best. Feel like a black or white.

[tag=3025]@iggyskier[/tag] anything cool coming down the pipeline for ON3P? i know you guys stray away from the typical fall/early season releases of gear like most companies but im a real big fan of the woodsman.

I gotta say I am a bit disappointed with where they took the Blackops series. Personally I wish they went with the same idea as the current gen with a middle ground 108 waist. To me it feels like they just did what they did to make the new line up feel less like dad skis.

A bit of truth, but the new skis are definitely more stout across the board than the old 7 stuff.

The Sender is the closest to the Soul 7, but is for sure stiffer, and the Ti version will actually be pretty burly. it's a bit more directional than the current 118 and 98 I think, but could actually be a pretty fun ski. I'd like to ski them.

Yeah nothing new or interesting. Useless BC boots, fancy new designs and more and more paulownia or balsa garbage (excluding the homies at on3p, moment, icelantic, down) that breaks when you look at em in the wrong way.

The prices rise and rise, production and materials are getting cheaper and cheaper. Makes me sad to look at it.

The new Armada Stranger could be pretty fun, that's one that we're excited to try. Sammy's new ski, too, though that is less "new" feeling.

Don’t get me wrong I am sure they are an upgrade to what the old s series was for more aggressive skiers but as a guy that really loves the 118 I think they could have filled a hole there that a lot of people could get behind if they did a 108 badass black ops

Skied the 187 Sender Ti today. Basically the opposite of the Soul 7 (or any of the "7" skis) in every regard.

It is a strong ski that wants you to stay forward pretty much all the time; nothing about it felt particularly playful. Reminded me a bit of the Black Crows Corvus, but with camber. Great carver, powerful tail that is fairly quick to punish mistakes. Not a true monster truck charger, but quite stable at speed. Interestingly, our non-Ti Sender's tail flexes even stiffer, but it's lighter, so I'm curious to see where that ski will fall. Very interesting move by Rossi.

Buuuuttt I am still furious that they haven't literally just shaved 5 mm off each side of the Black Ops 118 and called it good. That ski would be amazing. Very excited about the Dynastar MFree 108 though.

Wish it was Rossi for more selfish reasons if I’m honest.

Out of curiosity where was the mount point on the sender ti? Is it pretty rearward still or did they bump it forward a bit?

All of them are around -7. Our 187 Sender Ti measured -7.6 cm from true center. While I usually end up mounting forward, I'm curious to try it back a bit on this ski to shorten the tail and give me more leverage for the front.

Dynastar MFree 108 sound and look very interesting! If they are nice and damp like a typical Dynastar, they should be a great “bit of snow” ski.

Rossignol definitely diluted the Black Ops name with lots of skis in those pics including Women’s versions under the Black Ops name. Very confusing now.

Are the Sender 107 and 107ti the same shape or is it more along the lines of the Super 7 HD vs RD; same name different shape?

Rossi is calling the Ti a "106" and the non-Ti a 104, but ours measure almost identical in terms of width. In terms of taper / overall shape and rocker profile, they're basically identical.

Prices are rising because production costs and materials costs are getting more expensive, not the opposite. I don't know of one single ski boot material that went down in cost for next year, factories are paying workers more, and inflation is going up. Brands have been doing their best to hold prices where they've been for at least 10 years, but at some point the prices are going to have to rise.

Yes, still 105 wide and 192cm long only and called the M Pro 105. They now have M Pro 99, M Pro 90, M Pro 84 in various lengths based on the Pro Rider(M Pro 105) shape etc. So damp, stable skis in narrower widths.

M Free is their freestyle twin line with the existing Menace 118 becoming the M Free 118 and they added a new M Free 108 which looks solid but still fun. Anxious to try it!

M Tour line for touring too.

Going to a Solly 2021 intro tomorrow, anyone need me to test anything for 'em?

Love the scoop on the Stance series especially the Stance 96. A more forward mounted Mantra like ski(Enforcer Free 96 if they made it) would be of interest. Kinda looks like a semi twin but hard to tell in pics.

I'm on it brotha. Been anxious to try it out myself. Will report back later today.

??? Both the stance and mantra are more traditional with a further back mount point. QST Line continues is the more playful and forward ‘progressive’ mount point.

Correct. Heard the Stance is a “beefier QST”’so hoping more forward mount but stable and damp like a Mantra. Like a more narrow Enforcer 104 or similar to a Master Blaster type ski.

No it’s a different line, the QST has the more progressive mounts. There’s a shop in La Clusaz, France that has a pair of the Stance and the mount point is very traditional e.g. far back, it’s a directional ski

Knew it was a different line from the QST but hadn’t heard anything about its weight, flex, mounts etc yet. Too bad as I like the dimensions and radius on it.

Unfortunately I just get to test the skis. So I can't note the boot stuff. Sorry mate

It’s a stiff as fuck ski, mount point is traditional like I said before. Looks very interesting definitely

The stance 96 was my favorite of Salomons line up for next year. The thing ripped hard. Damp and loves to be on edge. The 90 and 102 weren't quite as notable.

Wow, was reading the specs, looks like CT 2 is going to have 2.5 edges along with whole prodigy line, thats a pretty huge effort to increase durability. Also looks like CT4 is gone.

Also adding metal under the binding area for durability.
