Gear rumours 20/21

In that quote it says there’s a 108mm, 102mm and 96mm coming in a regular and Ti versions coming from Rossignol.

A dream come true. Now I can own a full quiver of black ops skis! I never used to be a Rossi guy until those 118’s changed my life.

There seems to be some confusion here as to the Black Ops and Black Ops Sender line ups here.

The current Black Ops 98 and Black 118 will remain as their freestyle/freeride skis with more forward mounts aimed for the more advanced freestyle biased skier. Rumours of a middle sized ski coming out as well. Doubt it will be 108mm as the BO Sender model is 108 but probably around that width.

The Black Ops Sender is the new line up(96mm, 102mm,108mm models) of more directional skis aimed at the same market as the old 7 series but hopefully not quite as lightweight and wimpy as before. The Ti(Titanal) versions should be heavier and stiffer still, so maybe aiming at the Nordica Enforcer type market.

If this new line was just called Sender instead of Black Ops Sender it would be less confusing but Rossignol maybe trying to convert its newly found street cred of the current Black Ops line up from the non existent cred of the Soul 7. Lol

So the black Rossignol ski picture above must be the Black Ops SENDER 96 and that beige one is the Black Ops SENDER 102(that orange ski beside is the 108mm Blizzard Cochise). No idea if those are the Ti versions or not. Look fairly tapered so easy to ski and should be catch free in powder or soft snow.

This has been my TED TALK.......haha

Either they're super short and he has huge feet, or this guy skis them mounted wayyy forward. Or it's the angle of the shot. But they look a little off on this pic.

I just got next years chronics. The stiffened them up a hair from this years noodles. They have way more pop too! And finally, some color is brought back to the line!

Think it’s the demo binding track sticking out way past the toe piece making the fronts of the skis look way shorter along with the angle. Thought the skis looked really short too at first glance!

Yellow ones didn't make it out of proto.... but the actual 112 graphic is better! And the 122 is even more pretty

Read the skier who was on them thought they were a fun ski which makes me excited to try them out! The yellow ones must be the 112 Reckoner.

Liked the proto 112 version but excited to hear the final version looks good too! The 102 version above isn’t looking too exciting so hopefully that’s just a proto topsheet too.

Its not, but much more to it than the tips

With an old sth?!

Maybe the old driver makes a return for 2021???? Yes, I know. Probably a no on that. I know I’m a life long fan, and am always on the hunt on eBay for good Salomon STH1 bindings!

Only thing I can think of is that when they first came out with the STH2, it had some issues with delivering power outside of the ski due to its new (at the time) wider platform. I remember hearing that dudes rocking it at xgames that year were running around to shops trying to find the original version. Can't see why Oscar would be on one though, although with athletes of that level sometimes they just like something so much they don't want to get rid of it, call it a superstition if you want haha. I know that up until the last year or two, Oystein was using the same old haggard SPK boots and just kept having his coach find new ways to revive them.

Marker is remolding most of their bindings for 20/21. Jester looked different but dope though.

Are the heels changing? I saw a proto griffin with a metal heel with less forward pressure that was pretty nice.

All the new marker royal family heels are getting updated 30% easier to step into. Peep the duke PT for what they’ll look like. They are actually including a bright color in the lineup as well!!

new Rossi blackops 118 is looking fresh as hell and the new look pivot color way is super clean and very throwback colors!

I think that might be the special blend. There was an option for the TC van go fund me to buy the special blend for $800. So I’m guessing either egg got the new blends and the special blend is just the new version or that a totally different blend that’s super limited and the people who payed 800 got that limited edition ski

Man is sponsored by line tho, I think the special edition would have something cool relating to TC on it

I believe those are the new blends, I only saw a catalogue briefly and they’re, after all these years, finally changing up the blend but it’s gonna be sick don’t worry.

I can’t remember now what the deal is with the special blend, they offered it to retail folks this year but I forget what was different about it haha

Here’s one of the new black ops skis in the lineup and you can see in the background the new pivot colorway

Let us know what they are like! Heard the 102 was solid underfoot with softer tip/tail-you saying it hand flexes fairly soft all around? You have a scale to put those on? Love to know their weight range on both.

I would agree with that! They’re definitely softer in the tip and tail but under foot it’s stiffer and grated that’s hand flexing it so I’ll figure it out once I ski them. I would closely compare them to this years line SFB in flex comparison of the 102. The 122 feels much like the 116c mindbender. Weight range as in how much they weigh?

There’s a 112 K2 Reckoner coming also, right??

yes that is right!

Thanks for the description! Might be softer than I like as my 184cm 2018 SFB lasted 2 runs before I sold them to a buddy. Lol

If the Reckoner 102 in 184cm weighs above 2kg I’d still be very interested as I just don’t like soft AND light.

You bet!! Yeah it’s definitely better then the 2018 line sfb! Yeah I’ll weigh them today and let y’all know.

Starting of the new year with the new volkl revolt lineup for y’all!! So excited for the new 104!

Any clue when they'll be released to the public? I'm close to grabbing some marksman's but if these are coming out soon i may hold out for them. just wish the 102 was marksman width, IMO its a perfect wide park ski/all mountain jib width. Id probably just go with some marksmans if they werent left/right specific.

Next season. Shops are getting an early preview to hype them up. OR is in a couple weeks.

Sent an email into my contact at Corbetts to see what she’s heard about the Reckoner release dates. Mindbender had a few models(90Ti and 99Ti) available for sale the 3rd week of January last year. Then 108Ti and other models came out later. Maybe 102 & 122 released soon and 112 later if they do the same thing this year?

I’ll let you know what I hear.

Like the other guy mentioned it’ll be next season that they’re released. I would either wait on getting a new ski till then or look at all the other amazing options in the industry before buying a marksman.
