I need proof on that^^. And we are being imposed by Homosexuals. people always say that it is there business and that its not my place to worry about it. Well when they yell and throw gay pride protests, and riot, then its now my business, When a gay judge goes against federal law to decide thatsa its ok and everyone has to accept it, it now becomes my businnes to be concerned.

Millian and Berlinian ethics contradict you. The sole end that one can reasonably have to take away freedom is self-protection (protection of society). Society is entitled to interfere with people to prevent harm to others. The good of the individual is not enough.

There is a difference between harm and preference. For example, I might prefer that someone live in a certain way, maybe that they don't voice a certain opinion, but since they do not harm me, and have no responsibilities being contradicted by their actions, I cannot and should not impede them. This is the harm principle, and it is an institution to prevent what Mill calls ''The tyranny of the majority'', whereby government makes laws based on amoral issues, where the law restricts a freedom that did not cause harm to anyone. It is social tyranny, or the majority's influence regarding what is deemed ''proper'', that leads to this.

In other words, according to the greatest philosopher of political ethics ever, banning of Gay marriage is wrong. That is, unless someone can offer firm evidence that it is immoral. I'm still waiting for that. Anybody?

so far in almost any political debates the only persons oppionon that i respect is his^^^. He makes great points and actually has something smart to say, even if i don't agree. Most other people just say shit and act like they know when really they have no idea. And i still don't agree but once again you do make a great point, but immoral is different things to different people. It can mean little to nothing, or the world to someone. That is where our conflict lies. it comes down to that. Is where you draw the line. For some people is closer than others.

And 'religion says homosexuality is wrong...' Then why do so many of your priests want sex from young boys? Sure it isn't a huge number, but for being so 'holy', I'm shocked.

And last time I checked, there was SUPPOSED to be a seperation of church and state. I know it really doesn't exist that much. But whether or not religion finds homosexuality immoral should have no legal bearing on gay marriage. Because in an essence, marriage is a LEGAL CONTRACT.

personally i dont have a major problem with it, im not a supporter of either side really but i mean is it really that big of a deal if gay people get married? I know people out there are against homosexuality all togethor, and thats fine, but by not letting them get married your not really going to stop them from being gay, marrige is just mainly an abstract idea, i mean if they can get married what changes, they just get different legal benifits,

However the one thing i am slightly against is gay adoption. Im not basing this opinion on the bias that gay people would abuse the child, but imagine the hardship the kid would have to go through, like it or not the world is not a tolerant place and that kid (especially if it was a boy) would face endless torment in school. I dont think kids should have to deal with that for the sole purpose of equal rights

for teh first time, i think i actually agree w/ the president on gay marriages...if a gay couple want to have a civil union, life partnership, or whatever they call it...fine, but no marriages. and i dont think gay couples should be allowed to adopt children either

the only reason homosexuals are pushing for gay marriage to be allowed is for the benefits it creates for them as a married couple. tax breaks and all sorts of other things. but the reason it won't pass hopefully ever is because nothing comes out of a gay marriage, like what can a gay couple do besides love eachother n have gay gay sex, they cannot create. they could adopt and ruin a childs life thats for sure which is one of the mere, i guess you could call it this, upsides. gays cannot pro-create and all they want is their benefits. I have one big problem with bush wanting to ammend the constitution to specifically ban gay mariages (well actually i have a lot, but i'm only going to write one down). American society is based on a secular system. Bush wants to ban gay mariages (mariage being a legal issue, based on the legal rights people gain as a married couple) because of his religious beliefs. If this went through, you have to realize that Bush would not only be preventing gays from marrying by law, he would be undermining a major part of the constitution at the same time. After that, the separation of church and state would be a lot harder to define. If bush makes one ammendment to the constitution based on religous beliefs, what's to stop another from being made. by changing the constitution, it takes something that shouldn't even be a debateable issue, and transforms it into something that goes against what the american legal system was built on.

no i'm not a feminist, they bug me, i just don't see why they're arguing. but back on topic, how is it that much different? yes i realize blacks had zero rights, but they still had less rights as white people, just as gays have less rights than straight people. no matter how you look at it, blacks were discriminated against (to a MUCH greater and more sever extent) as are gays today. gays not being able to legally marry is discrimination. our societyis supposed to be tolerant and accepting, so why should gays be excluded from that?

anyways, as i said before, you cant even begin to compare african americans and gays. only reason you would do that is to give it more attention that it naturally brings to itself. then again like it needs anymore, lol. gay people have ALL of the same rights as straight, crooked, and curved people. they just cannot be issued a marriage licence. you dont need a marriage licence to be faithful to your lover, you dont need one in order to love your lover, and you definately dont need it to prove your love for your lover to others. only reason its being sought is because these people on to reap the same financial gains that a married couple can. its ridiculous. i have nothing against gays, but from a religious standpoint marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman and give that most of the USA is of christian upbringing you can only expect the outcome to be would it is. our society was built upon these same religious constructs so if its not like then they should go to canada or something.

that's my point, gays can't get the same financial benefits form marriage as straight couples, so they are denied a rights that straight people have. As for religion, you say america was built on cristian values. america is supposed to be have a secular system, so a legal system based on a certain religion's values contradicts that, which is why bush really has no case against banning gay marriages.
