Dude, in the town I came from, who's father wasnt an alcoholic? Our neighbors made meth and did terrible shit around their kids, scaring them for life. You mean to tell me just because they can physiologically produce a baby that they deserve to? And that physiological capabilities determine automatically someones psychological aspect? If your morals lead you to believe thats right, then go to hell.

I feel sorry for all you conservatives in this thread. I really can respect the other side, but the people opposing the issue here are making a mockery of you. So far, not one has presented logical and competent reasons for opposing the issue, save from repeating scripture or just because "its gross, eeeeeeeewwww..." The entire US shouldnt conform to your Christian values, simply due to the fact that we arent all Christian. And I hope you can all be mature enough to deal with the idea of two guys kissing. Sure, its not the norm, but hey, here in WA where african americans make up less than 5% of the population, I'm not freaked out when I see a black dude. Besides, allowing civil unions gives more people equal rights and doesnt effect you if you're straight. So what, gay people can be married? Do you think they'll go have sex on the street in front of you or something?

Honestly, I would love to see someone present an argument against gay marriage that is rooted in something other than religious bias and personal discomfort. Give me a sociological or scientific reason why they should not enjoy the same freedoms we do. Oh wait, you cant!
 
actually if you read what i was quoting i said that its not hard for drunken people who are mentally unstable to have children for example. They can do it without help, thats why it happens. Read people. Why wouldnt i agree with starting a family if one of the parents werent capable of it? I dont even see why a gay couplr shouldnt be able to adopt, the stereotypical faggit would be a great parents, still marriage no, but same benefits.

i dont need to make a scientific reason why they shouldnt marry, its agianst my faith and i agree with it. Obvisouly i go agianst my faith, i'm not married and had sex, break the law with drugs etc. But gay marriage is not right, period. Just because you dont agree doesnt make me ignorant, so get over yourself there buddy.

I don't give a shit what the bible says on the matter, but I still don't think gay marriages should be legal.

I didn't research any of this, so I could be wrong on a few points here but here I go anyways.

I think that the gay mindset is a problem that has been created by our society. Is it really possible that humans are born with the genetic coding to be attracted to other men? No way! If that was the case wouldn't other species experience gayness? Personally, I have never heard of a gay animal. Once again, that's just me. If this problem is ever to be fixed, we have to discourage it, not encourage it. If people growing up don't know that gay is a possibility, wouldn't it be much less likely to happen?
 
Oh, I once read a book where the government encouraged everyone on earth to be gay in order to solve Earth's overpopulation. Don't know why that's relevant, but it's a disturbing thought.

The problem is, gay people are trying to take over the world. Sorry, but its just not normal. I dont want the human race to all be bisexual in the future cause that would be well...just gay..... It's scary that humans are taking natural selection into their own hands. You cannot tell me that two members of the same sex can normally produce a kid without any outside help. Sure thats great if they want to raise a kid who has no parents at all. I do not consider myself conservative either, but to see gay people just reproduce like mad to try and pollute the gene pool kind of pisses me off.

i am not homophobic first of all, i have no problems with gays, i have been at parties when there happens to be fags there. They are normal fucking people i just dont think they should be able to get married. If you read my post clearly you would notice that i dont base my decisions on the catholic church i base them on personal values. So keep thinking your proving me wrong, its a lost cause, sorry.

How many gay people do you know? Every single one that I know has a father and a mother, has had a normal childhood (as far as I can tell) and are more than often the type to stay to themselves and NOT make a cry for attention. I can't imagine people willingly being kicked out of their homes and disowned by their parents (which is a very common occurrence) just to get attention; buying a funny hat to get attention would be more likely.

if people just decided to 'get over it' when it came to social problems then there'd never be anyone to help the issues. or provide justice. or equality. there'd be absolutely no hope for peace, reconciliation, rejuvenation...all of the wonderful things in life that allow people to be happy that they're getting up in the morning..it would all be gone. there'd only be darkness in an already semi-dark world.

gay marriage, im sorry to say, is a social problem. it affects people everyday, gay people. and shit, just like women (whom you also have no respect for) homos are people too!!!
 
i think that any church has the right to deny to let a couple be married under their church, however, i do not believe that the government should deny a marrige in a court. if the catholic or lutheran or jewish or whatever church doesnt want to recognize it as a marrige, fine, go ahead, but the government should not give different rights and benefits to gay and straight couples, they should be legally considered equal.

also, in many states they had voters vote on a gay marrige banning AMMENDMENT to be added to the state's constitution which makes me sick, because think if other things, like allowing slavery, had been fully ammended, which is basicly making a law much more solid and unchangeable.
 
#1 gay animals are existant in nature...just to tell you. plenty of other species have encountered 'homosexuality'

#2 regardless of how homosexuality came into being...regardless of why a person is gay or what kinds of "moral" rules this orientation might "break"....it remains that gay people exist. they are living breathing people who have feelings. they are people who are restricted from binding themselves to someone in a way that heterosexuals are free to do anytime they please.

marriage is a heterosexual tradition, yes. i understand this. i understand the whole view on procreation as well. blablabla. i've heard it all. there are plenty of gays who are actually against gay marriage because of the fact that its a heterosexual tradition.

but if we continue to base our morality and values on tradition, on convention, we will find ourselves at war. a war bigger than any missiles could create. a war that will destroy the human spirit and what its like to feel alive and strive for what you want and not allow social boundaries to keep you from that goal.

it is important that governments and religions adapt to the modern man. everyday there are less and less people who believe in living a 'righteous' life. perhaps its because now the term "life" has changed. over time a life's meaning can alter. people have become corrupt and tainted and there's a loss of innocence in this world. but the last thing a homosexual needs is some asshole head of gov't telling him he cant marry the person he loves. putting a restriction on something that has already been misused. divorce, good god it happens all the time. marriage is lessening in value. if gays are willing to travel to another state, another country, just to be legally married, i dont think their value of marriage is weak. i believe that they value marriage deeply, and that their fight for it expresses this. so, allowing them to marry legally is not going to lessen the value of marriage anymore than it has already devalued itself...it is going to open the door to more love in the world and less hate.

If you don't care about gay marriage and it truly doesn't concern you, then why oppose it? With your logic, shouldn't you just let gays do what they want? Maybe we should just let gay people vote on gay marriage...
 
The greater part of the population is obvisouly not gay, so soooo many ppl, ecspecially older ppl of our parents generation just arent going to vote yes for gays. My parents always say when they were younger you just didnt say the world gay, it wasnt around, people kept it to themselves. So i'm sure eventually the media will brainwash the youth enough to agree with gays by the time our generation is ready to run for office. I'm still agianst it though, marriage is between a man and a women, let them get civil unions for the benfits, that makes 100% in my eyes.
 
yes cause the benefits of getting married could help so much, for health benefits through work, and claiming marriage on taxes. But then two fucking guys who are open with eachother could just act like they're married for the benfits, just like poor ppl claim random kids for there income taxes. But that will always happen and its besides the point. I'm not agreeing with marriages though, but they should get the same benefits cause they're ppl too, and i respect that.
