for real though, I think that gay couples deserve the tax breaks and other advantages as married couples, but I don't think that they should be 'married', but instead civil unioned or such. A Marriage, in my eyes, is a long standing tradition of man and woman, such as my mom and dad and grama and grampa, etc.
 
Im not gay in anyway but its diffrent for gay people. They were born with a diffren genetic code, studys show being gay is genetic not a chose, just like us we see a hot girl and naturally want to do somthing sexualy its the same for gays they see somone hott of the same sex its natural for them to think of those sexual things. How does them getting married affect us? SOme people should just mind there own buisness.

if i had a girl friend who was a lesbian, i think it would be pretty cool. i wouldnt be afraid that shed be hitting on me, and if she does then hey! she thinks im hot! otherwise shed probably point out hot girls and id just tell her what it hink.

if i had a gay guy friend(which i do) then thats just another shopping buddy for me=). and another extra pair of eyes to help me look for hot guys.

but yeah, gay marriages should be allowed. we're all human after all.

the bible is just a book. people can say any book holy and follow it. let them get married. our lives wont be effected by it at all. fucking most pathetic argument ever. i cant believe this is such a huge controversy in the U.S.

oh and I'm catholic and i believe in god and heaven, but the bible has things in it that are totally unreasonable, illogical and proven wrong by science.

If you say that marraige should not be allowed because the bible states it as between a man and a women, keep in mind that the Bible also claims that an old man crammed two of every animal on one boat for forty days and nights while the entire earth was flooding.
 
Alright so marriage by deffintion is an institution of the church, and is a representation of the union that god and the church have, and in most churchs they do not perform gay marriages. Now a civil union is an institution of the state and it is up to the state whether gays can be civily unioned

it should be aloud. when it isn't its like when there were pre-arranged marrigaes way back in the day its not right. people should be able to choose who they get to marry not the goverment or anyone else.
 
i love how ignorant these threads are. anyone that knows someone whos gay knows that there just like you and me. theres nothing different about them, the media just shows gay men as femine fasion freaks, and lesbians as either hot teens or butch middle age women with short hair cuts and flannel shirts. the truth is most of you prob know someone who has been homosexual there entire like and you have never even known it. now do they deserve the right to be married? of course. who are we to take away there rights to marridge. looking past whether you think gay marridge is kosher, its about civil rights. in america if someone is denied there civil rights based on there sexual orientation that is taking away there civil liberties and infact breaking the constitution.
 
I think its most important to consider when referencing the bible that IT ISNT REAL. You can believe in it if you want, I'm going to believe in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, its a lot more interesting read. Seriously drives me up the wall people devote so much of their lives and passion to a modern day mythology. Open your eyes man.
 
I think Marriage is between Man and Woman. If they wanna be together for life they can be and they should get the benefits of marriage but don't call it marriage. Create a new term for it.

Marriage was always full of problems. Start reading historic documents. Also, marriage existed before Christ.

 
You're missing something else. In our country, we are supposed to have seperation of church and state, so the bible issue shouldn't even matter. Marriage is a civil commitment, not a religious commitment. People of all religions get married, it's not just a christian ceremony.

Should Jews, Muslims, Aethiests, Buddhist's, etc not get married too?

Let them have whatever its called when the state considers them together, but marriage, no. Marriage is a sacrement, like baptism or first holy communion. Plus if you defending gays you might as well just come out of the closet cause if your not gay then dont even bother.
 
So true. I hate it when people use the bible as a justification for an idea, belief or act. Personally, I think religion is the cause of most of the problems in the world, but that's another topic.

If you live a life without god i truly feel bad for you, because you will be in a situation one day when you need guidence and you will be shit out of luck. So I'm automatically ignorant and unhappy because I don't believe in religion? I never said I don't believe in god. I'm Agnostic. I lead a very happy life and if I ever needed guidance, I'd turn (and have done so before) to family or friends, not a church that doesn't care about me. I don't need a church to tell me how to be a morraly good person either. Sure the bible is a set of "guidelines" and I'm down with that. But way to many people take it too seriously, not to mention literally. Aight?

what if i wanted to marry my dog? if they didnt let me that would be violating my persuit of hapyness what if all that makes me happy is killing people and eating babys?
