I was just wondering. Do any of you have a problem with gay people getting married? If so... why? Why shouldnt they be able to enjoy the same benefits of marraige as a man and women? If it's not your problem, then why not pull your nose out of their asses?

Well I think marriage in this country is more than just a religious institution. The people who say gays shouldn't be allowed to marry because God hates gay people are stupid. I think civil union is fine for alot of people. But hey this is America and if two gay people can't deal with the title of civil union just write MARRIAGE on the certificate instead and let them be as happy as anyone else. Such a stupid debate I can't even believe this is a hot issue.

J.D. what does it matter if there are lots of posts about it. it shows people are interested in it.

gay marrige is a good thing, but the curch reserves the right to marrie who they want. why is it so important for a gay person to be married in a church?

if they want to be married, fine, but to force a church to marry them, it's just wrong. the church and state are seperated and the church has no requirement to go along with the times.

the rights of a married couple should be extended to gays who wish to wed.

The vote in my state got voted down so as of now their wont be any gay marriages in Ohio. I dont know it doesnt affect me so i cant same im mad but there is a bunch of pissed of gays.(rightfully so)

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

judges can marry people, so I think it has already moved away from the church. Aswel, the state is still attached to the church, if you can't see this, you are blind. 'I swear to tell the whole truth and whatever... so help me GOD'. Aswel, listen to the shit bush and the other political leaders say regarding god and religion and what not.

Two gays should be allowd to get married, the church doesn't have to marry them, but they should have a way to gte married.

My parents are friends with a gay couple who adopted a boy from columbia. I think that if their is a woman figure set up within the childs life, like the mother of one of the parents or something, then it is ok. Many of you might say, ignorantly so, that 'the parents might make the child gay', you cannot make someone gay, thats all there is to that. There are bad parents even in straight couples, and mnay children only have one parent anyways, 50% of mariages end up in divorce. I rather of two male parents than only one parent of either sex.

I think it means that in nations where gay marrige has been legalized that people believe that the institution of marrige has been comprimised and it is no longer valid. So, insteed of getting married technically they tend to enter a long term monogomus(sp) relationships that would be marrige by our standards aside from the legal aspects. I heard it on crossfire or hardball, I forget which one.

The problem with that argument is that if marrige means nothing then why would gay people want to get married. If homosexuals really wanted a union then they would not want marrige because, by that argument, marrige would be a sham. So if marrige has lost all validity and merit due to the divorce rate then there is no reason gay people would fight to get gay marrige, because why would you fight for nothing.

Marriage hasn't lost all sanctity and value. Its just not as valuable as it once was, nor is it valuable enough the tradition of marriage to determine who is to be married. There are also legal reasons why people would want to be married. Gays being able to marry is also symbolic because it shows that gays are just like anyone else under the law, as they should be.

the reason people are against it is because of the whole religious aspect, how marriage is a sacrament and how in the bible it says a union between man and woman. other than that whole religious thing I think its fine

 
you know, i really think its screwed up how minorites get preferential treatment when it comes to college admissions. it kind sucks that i am white, and i cannot take advantage of that kind of thing. in fact, since i am middle class, i have a harder time getting my hands on financial aid as well, so i have decided that i will become a mexican. i mean, i am not of hispanic decent, but whatever, i mean, ive been to mexico, and my brother liver there... shouldnt i be entitled to the same rights as the mexicans? i mean that doesnt seem fair does it? whats that? im not mexican you say? so what. whos to decide what makes a mexican? history and geneology? pfft. what a load of crap. i think that we need to re examine the definition of race and where exactly it came from. after all, i live in california, and that used to be mexico, so shouldnt i be entitled to something? maybe the courts can decide if i can change the definition of my ethnicity. i should have equal access to being a mexican as anyone else in this country shouldnt i? after all, whos it going to hurt if i change my ethnic classification? or maybe ill be african. that seems like a good idea... i mean, sure, i have never put up with racial prejudice like a lot of black people have, but hell, whos to decide what makes someone black or not? who is to classify or define what race im from? no one. thats who. if i mean, i guess if i really wanted to, i could go through all the hassel it would take to make sure that i had access to all the preferential treatment that they get in university admissions, but why? thats awefully close minded and bigitous for them to make me do all that. after all, so many of them dont even go to college... they ignore the value of the college education that they might be able to get at a lower price... so obviously the entire idea and institution behind it is worthless, and not worth bothering over.

its not a very accurate parallel, that is you problem with it.

gay marrige and rights of not being mexican have nothing to do with each other.

gays would just like to have the same rights as other americans with their unions. if marrige is not extended to gays, they will not have the same rights, and it therefore goes against the constitution.

same argument in canada, and it worked here as our charter of rights was used the same way.

if a civil union could be extended to have the same legal consequences of marrige. then we would not even have to woory about it, and the religious aspect would be taken out of play.
