so i guess in my town there is an 11:00 curfew for people under 18. well last night my friend and i were walking to another friends house at about 11:30, and a cop rolled up and slapped us each with an $80 ticket. fuck police.
 
Thats fucking redic but my town has the same deal. Its because all the fucking white suburban people can't stand the thought of teenagers walking around at night.
 
that's exactly what it was...we were walking through an upper class neighborhood and someone called the cops because we looked "suspicious."
 
...because the evening of a teenager in suburbia consists solely on drinking and feeling cool with his friends.
 
fight it in court. if you dont have a record and plead your case well enough youre fine. theres no way a judge cant sympathize with a kid walking to his friends house. unless youre like 14. if youre 17 thats bullshit.
 
public curfews are designed to keep you at home and bored on nights when you could be out having fun, flirting with the ladies, doin' whatever. instead, because of curfew, now you and all your friends are sitting at your house bored to death. eventually a gay orgy will transpire. totally gay.
 
unfortunately it would be cheaper just to pay the ticket than fight it in court. thats so lame though, i hate cops.
 
court is free. the actual ticket will go to court anyway and if theres no one (you) there to contest it, the judge just rules in favor of the cop. its like traffic court.
 
man it was totally your fault. plain and simple. shouldn't have been out after curfew.

Im kind of suprised. I always assumed most cities had this sort of curfew. We have it in AK! Bogus!
 
dude i know what court is like, ive been arrested twice. but there is a very very slim chance that he would be able to fight and win on his own. the only way he could beat it is if he hired a lawyer. many lawyers charge $1500-$3000 for each court appearance, therefore it would just be a waste.
 
youve been to court involving a lawsuit it sounds like...this has nothing to do with that. its you, the cop, and a judge. thats it. no lawyers
 
WOW. I didn't know there were curfews in the USA! That's practically Orwellian. Crazy. "Sorry, we're going to force you to remain in your home after 12." You should figure out a way that that violates your civil liberties... I suppose you could say it amounts to false imprisonment.
 
no it wasn't a lawsuit but that doesn't really matter. i think what you are talking about is a clerks hearing. and in that case yes it is just you, the cop, and the judge. there is a chance that you could get the ticket thrown out at a clerks hearing if you present a good case and overall appear to be a good kid (i.e. be polite, wear a suit and tie, etc) but if you don't get it thrown out at the clerks hearing then it goes onto a district court (which is what i was describing) in which case it would be better to just pay the ticket.
 
atleast all you got was a ticket i was out wiht my friends and i got arrested... they called my mom and she had to come get me at like 3 in the morning
 
its like 2 where i live

one time(thsi is like the only time i did this, and it was near DC, so the curfews earlier)

my cousin and i were walking, and we saw cop, so we really quick started walking up to some randmo house, and we waved at the cop, and knocked on the door

luckily the cop drove past before the people answered the door, cuz we booked as soon as the cop was gone
