a lil of topic but i heard this local omish guy in my town went to look in his big farm gas tank he couldent see in so insted of grabing the flashlight out of his pocket it lit the lighter and died of his burns after one day of lighing at his house and two days of hospitol

natural selection would only apply to the guy who lit the cig. all the rest of the people were taking a risk but didn't do any extraordinarily stupid that would kill them. they just didn't consider the 'what ifs' is all.

this happens often though. people sabotaging gas or oil pipelines and taking the fuel. the worst are the oil fires though. skin melting all that nasty shit.
 
seriously? have you ever been hungry? these people were probably just doing something to get some food in their stomachs. a huge risk? yes, but worth it to those hundred people.

There's no such thing as a free lunch. Fuck around in a pool of gasoline trying to soak up a water bottles worth of fuel from the dirt for a car you don't own is retarded. But it's not their fault, if it wasn't for an advanced society they would be living safely in their mud huts.

black, kenyan, whatever im just trying to illustrate what was pointed out earlier in the thread. just because its people you dont relate to, does not make it not sad. us young people can relate to obama. would we be able to relate to his grandfather? who cares, it does not make a difference.

a hundred some people dead is a tragedy, these people were leaving their good judgement behind so they could try to get ahead.

Exactly. That was supposed to be the point in making this fucking thread. What I don't think a lot of people on here understand is that those people have absolutely nothing, and were simply trying to survive. The devastation that they live in to begin with is something that you can't fully comprehend unless you've been there. Something like this happens, and the people now have no idea what to do; whole families have been destroyed, and yet you guys are sitting here laughing about how it has to be natural selection. Seriously? Come on guys.

and don't preach about third world suffering because unless you spent a considerable amount of time in the peace corps in some third world country instead of looking out at it from behind the glass in your suv as you're chauffered from the airport to your luxury hotel then you really have no right to lecture us on whats suffering.

i told you my thoughts didnt come together right.
im half pakistani and have spent considerable time (over a year) in both 3rd world cairo and islamabad, as well as visits to sao paulo, and time spent in rural texas (with people who are just as poor as those in third world countrys).
i understand you want to defend what you perceive as ill will. dont be misled though. i was not chauffered or anything of that nature. i got sick off the water, was kidnapped with my dad in pakistan (not as gloriously as you would think), lived in fear, and lived off of little. im not comparing my experiences to those who live like that with no way out, nor am i saying that you have not experienced similar.
however, i AM trying to protect the reputation of a group of people that i have 1 1/100th of a morsel of understanding for. in case you are aiming for the same thing, then im sorry we went down this path. i am not racist though, and am certainly not ill informed. do not assume things about people you dont know.
and i do apologize about the lecture tone, but have you read any of the posts? seriously. a lecture was required.
 
and this i dont agree with.
you can talk about prison populations, crimes committed, those in offices of power, etc for days. its not an issue of lesser race, is a systemic thing. and then thats debatable in many ways till the cows come home.
they are not a lesser race.

thanks soooooo much. this really hits the nail on the head. i just recently started living in kenya, and i already had one experience volunteering to feed people in the worst slum here, and just in the 45 minutes i was there i couldn't believe how desperate people were, it was really incredible, even after having lived in other third world places for 8 years of my life. so many of you guys are such douchebags in the way you react to incredibly unfortunate things on the internet, whether it be a gnarly crash (see ski gabber's snowboard crash for example) or this kind of tragedy. grow up please. thank you.
 
yeah man every couple years someone in my town dies from drunk driving. no one mentions natural selection.
