Gas station food?

What is good gas station food. I'm going on a road trip soon and I am wondering what NS's preferences are. I know theres the obvious chips and stuff but I'm looking for more than just a fatty snack, just like my love life. So does NS have any hidden gas station gems?
 
Gas station food sucks ass. Bring a camping grill and pull over when your hungry. The extra time cooking is worth not feeling like shit for your whole trip.
 
$0.99 Arizona's n 2 Soda's for $3.00 deal, Be on the hunt for any cheap chillzones or anything like at a cumbys. I usually like to stock up on king sized candy bars and avoid any semen in the bathrooms
 
Not sure where you're located, but if heading to the east coast, you HAVE to stop at SHEETZ. BEST GAS STATION FOOD EVER!!! It's all fresh...as in made after you order. You walk in to the gas station....order your food off of a touch screen, and BAM!

Holy fuck, it's amazing (for gas station food)...best drunk food EVER.

Sheetz is the only thing about driving through PA that doesn't totally suck

Always go for the burger you gotta heat up in the disgusting microwave! It may look gross but they're dank as fuck.
 
Gotta watch nuts from gas stations. No idea how long they've been sitting on the shelf and nuts once they are out of shell are supposed to be in cool conditions. Travellers diarhea sucks and a lot of times in come from nasty old food.

has anyone ever been to a wawa? one of the only good things about living in NJ. 20 times better than sheetz
 
Me & my friends go grocery shopping at the gas station almost everyday, we love it! Such a good deal, look for Arizona's and chips and salsa are always a good pickup.
 
711 taquitos and coffee are the only things you will need. I basically lived off that shit during ski season.

The 711 pizza tastes like shit though
 
Beef jerky, Doritos "JACKED" spicy chipotle BBQ, flamin' hot Cheetos, candy, and Mountain Dew. All other answers are unfortunately incorrect.
 
Frozen gas station burritos are a god send. It has a bit of a learning curve to fully heat them all the way through but once you've got it they are dank
 
bottled water is literally the only thing i can have from gas stations anymore. sucks being allergic to everything when your on a road trip and all you want is something tasty and quick to eat, kinda sucks being gluten, wheat, dairy, free because of stomach condition, cause there are actually some quite tasty finds at gas stations sometimes. my old favorite when i could still eat that stuff on road trips etc would be gas station fried chicken. dunno why but it always used to taste soooooo dank. so old probably, but fatty and tasty as fuck.
 
PHILLY CHEESTEAK, bomb. also ICE drinks, 2 16 0z for $1.11 Carbonated water beverage in a multitude of flavors. A bag of combos is a must as well
 
Big Texas cinnamon rolls are on point. Same goes with all the bakery items at gas stations. I really love the f'real shakes and malts as well.
 
Ice cream sandwich, funyuns, Flamin' hot cheetos, jerky chew, Naked juice (expensive, but lots of carbs to keep you going)
 
Unless you hate feeling like shit afterwards Little Debbie snacks like cosmic brownies and honey buns are delicious but fill you up after the 2nd bite

Still regional. They don't come up into ny, maybe at the base. PA and Jerz they're everywhere.

Might be the best chain sub hoagie/sub you can get.

Some places have great convenient store chains some have shit. We have "Stewarts" where I'm from which is fucking useless IMO. Unless you want hotdogs and ice cream it really doesn't have much going for it.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Sheetz is better than wawa. I've only been to a couple of Wawas, but I have not been impressed with them compared to sheetz. Sheetz, as long as it isn't an older one that is still lingering around in the middle of nowhere, its awesome.

PA gas stations: Sheetz>Wawa>Rutters>every other shithole.

Royal Farms probably beats Rutters, but I've never been inside.
 
I was never impressed by sheetz. That said I kind of stopped trying and have only stopped at the random middle of nowhere ones in PA for the last few years.
 
basically anything sealed, chips, candy, soda. etc. i stay away from stuff like hotdogs, pizza, stuff just sitting out.
 
Go to a grocery store instead and hit up the hotbar/deli. Fuck gas station food unless you're out in the farmland where they have local jerky. That shit is awesome
 
If you're out west (Utah/Idaho/Nevada) Hit up a Mavericks. Their food is always solid, plus super cheap slurpees.

so many more options? no way. Sheetz has damn near EVERYTHING you could imagine. fuck i miss their mac n cheese and pretzel sammies at 3 am.
 
After visiting hundreds of corner stores and gas stations this summer, I wouldn't buy anything that's not pre-packaged or has a long shelf life. I wouldn't even buy beer from a gas station before checking the date. A lot of those guys are terrible about rotating stock.
