You can thank all the commodity traders for pushing the price of crude up due to the perceived shortage that never occured. This is one of the disadvantages of a free market economy with a floating exchange rate. Some might argue that increased hostility towards the US by Venezuela are also to blame along with the increasing consumption by China and the situation in the Middle East, however it all comes back to those guys in the colored quotes inflating prices for no reason.
