and idk why but whenever i try a noseblock i snap out of my skis

can anyone help?

Garrett Russell is the bomb. Noseblocks are super fun, Garrett is one cool cat. The way he talks to himself is hilarious... try it for a day, and you won't ever go back to skiing without talking to yourself. It's addicting.

you can do it your self, pretty easy just need a standard screw driver stick it in the heel peice of you binding and turn clock wise. this turns the din setting up which is marked on your binding but keep it under ten you still want your ski to release. torn acl's arent fun

I sat Garrett down at SIA and made him explain it to me. I'll be putting up the trick tip with his interview in the near future, but here's a summary as I remember it: Roll up to a transition. Ice is no good, and super soft snow is no good. You want some nice sun-soft groomed snow. So you roll up medium speed and as the transition starts to slow you almost to a stop, you get your rock and kinda hop up a bit. Then it's just a matter of balance and weight distribution.

One really easy way to figure out the motions for nose blocks is to put on your skis in your living room, on a carpeted surface. Do a superman leap forward, and stop yourself from hitting the floor with your hand. Now do it again, but a little less exaggerated. Keep doing this until you've mastered the motion of standing up to your tips.

Now take it to the snow- roll up to a transition, slowishly, and pop up and forward the same way. Just try to balance the first few times, don't go for the grab until you've got the balance down.

The whole "waiting for the apex" thing he talks about is definitely key. Although even when I'm successful with a noseblock, it's really quick. Garrett seems to perch up there and pick his grab. I guess it's just practice and balance.
