In garage band, is there a way to add notes in the editor view without just recording stuff and then changing what you played?

Im not realy sure how to word my question since I am not yet familiar with macs or garage band so I will word it from a musical standpoint;

I want to add notes to the musical staff without recording by musical typing or with the keyboard, just drag and drop like you can do when editing your recordings or like you can do with the program "finale".

oh i have a garage band question, is it possible to record yourself on the program and if so how?

not sure but i know you can import audio files so you could use another program to record the audio and then import it

to the thread poster: i think i know what you're talking about. you want to put notes in a specific spot rather than having to use the keyboard? when you double click on the green splice of music, a bunch of black boxes turn up on the bottom and i think you can move them around.

to the other question: add a "real" instrument with the plus sign at the bottom left, then just use the microphone to record your voice.

here's a picture for the first quetsion

Yea, it's easy as fuck. I have a macbook, and it has a built in mic. Click the "+" sign at the bottom left, and then a window will pop-up asking whether you want a real or software instrument. Pick real. Then click the record button. Done.
