I just needed to make a thread because i wanted to let you guys know whats bothering me. People that talk to you and are like "Yea our whole family skiis, were all skiiers we go to aspen like 3 times a year and i can do blacks" Then everyone proceeds to be like wow you must be good BLAH BLAH BLAH. And your sitting there like wow. You know nothing about anything. IT just annoyes me. I live in a place were not many people ski/snowboard so i get it alot.
 
there's a really small ski area (it doesn't even deserve to be called a resort)about 20 minutes from where i live. it's basically just part of a five star hotel up on the mountain. it's just one slope (250 ft. vertical), and one lift with a mid station at about 75 ft vertical. and occasionally one of my friends will start to brag about being able to 'go down from the top, and only falling twice. i just turn around and say that i dropped the entire thing switch. gapers are rediculous
 
No, you would be a gaper if thats what you classified your entire snowboarding ability on.
 
dude i know how u feel. i live in ohio. i was talking to a friend once and we got on the topic of perfectnorth (the local ski area). to quote him

"I use trick skis. You know those really short ones with tips on both ends and no poles"

Me: no, actually those are skiblades and they are gay

Him: no dude are you retarded they're trick skis.
 
i know what your talking about i stayed with my step dads old roomate in colorado and their kids said they were like level 5 or something when refferring to their ski/snowboard abilitys.
 
i hate my ski areas gapers. its all these alabama hicks saying "lets go do the black" and they carve giant moguls into it and they are laying all over it when this black would probly be a blue or blue/black thing anywhere else. and then you get the rednecks in the terrain park sitting in the landing thinking they just won the fucking olympics or something. I wish they could just be humble and not fuck up the jumps i build infront of my house.
 
My favorite is the old gaper who goes "So do they let you skiers in the snowboard park?' Old gapers are the worst.
 
Yea, that's what sucks about newschool skiing. It's an extreme sport, but it can also be a gay leisurely sport that great aunt dorthy and great uncle carl can do for fun.

Stuff like skateboarding doesn't have that, and even snowboarding..... actually skiings the only extreme sport that does that.
 
surfing gets that, but not nearly as bad as skiing. everyone just pretends the know how to surf which is annoying as hell. but skiing has it worse. I wanna get a huge poster of some insane tricks and put them up in my school, or just make a really insane skiing movie for the film fest if i knew how to film/wasn't lazy as hell.

Um, snowboarding has just as many gapers if not more, at least where I live.

But, there are so many snowboard gapers that get insulted when the rental shop people ask them if they want to rent skis(80's Kastle straight skis) or a snowboard. They says, "Do I look like Im a skier?"(picture johnny tsunami like hat). They think they are really cool and just sit in the middle of the trail and talk with their church group friends and look cool sitting in the park, barely straight ariing our 20 foot jumps. They say, "skiers can't grind rails."

In the south 99% are gapers. The worst are the ones from florida that

finally see snow and have snowball fights in the middle of the trails.

Gapers are just so stupid though. On a lift one time, I was using my old 1080 dorion pro models, which have the same graphic, but reversed on each ski. And this gaper kid thought I mounted one of them backwards because the graphic was switched around, even though the skis clearly have rubber things on the tips and short rounded tails.

But the gapers in atlanta suck ass. Instead of aspen, they go to deer valley. They ask me what I like to ski, I say park and powder, the ask what both of them are. at this point I walk away.
 
Yea theres mad gaper snowboarders but there just dumb as shit. I snowboard and snowboard gapers are worse then skii gapers because most of the time ski gapers mean well. Snowboard gapers are like yo i saw shaun WHite dude im fucking good im going to hit that ramp. And they talk mad shit and walk around thinking there the shit. And im like wow go suck a dick
 
DUDE it is INTESNELY bad in Toronto...... Holy shit i get it every day..... It drives me nuts
 
north carolina represent. too many gapers for one region i really wish we could spread them out to like the midwest or texas or somewhere
