GAPERS SUCK, second season out

So today i was finally getting comfortable again on jumps, I tore out my acl at the start of last year and had a season off. So i was crusing through the park just throwing down some easy 5s and shit. Later in the afternoon i was in the middle of a 3 jump line where a random comes out of no where and cuts me off. Not wanting to take the dumb ass out i stop real hard real quick. Hooking my edge and my skis didnt release (i weight almost 200 and have them set at 7.5 so its not cranked like some people have). and i hear 2 pops and crazy pain...go to the hospital and they cant tell me exactly what it is but i know its my acl.

Dont know where i was going with this but FUCK GAPERS KNOW THE RULES and im fuckin pissed that it'll be more then 2 years since i have been able to ski as hard as i want, or at all

that really sucks. im fine with gapers being gapers on groomers and shit, but when it comes to park they should atleast read the orange sign

FUCK GAPERS! and im allways scared somthing like this could happen to me.... so i just plow them over.

+++++++++Vibes man that sucks, i dont like gapers that much but they keep my season pass cheep, and i would have ran him over and not given a fuck.

I don't get how everyone is always hitting gapers. I mean most of the time we don't go near gapers and if you do happen do be somewhere where they are it is not that hard to go around them. I mean how can a gaper just "appear from nowhere" they ski so slow that is impossible.

dude that fucking SUCKS

i would've beat the shit out of the fucker

park rules are clear and easy, how do people not understand

that sucks so much i dont wanna be a dick but it sounds like you knees dont wana shred park anymore either way hope the mri comes back negative

this is why park passes should be at every resort

a) provides extra money for features and maintenance

b) keeps people like gapers out of the park so it stays clean and stuff like this doesn't happen

mountains need to crack down on the gaper problem not so much in the mini parks, but the higher end parks with 30 - 45 foot booters. Having fucking ignorant parents and their snowplowing children zig-zagging all through the landings and everywhere is unacceptable.

It pisses me off to no end. I just want to go up to parents and be like "Go read the FUCKING rules and if you can't get your kid to listen then GTFO." I've had so many incidents to the point where I'm afraid to huck off shit because on the inrun I'm looking all over for kamikazee kids.

damn that blows. i am also so sick of gapers cutting you off in the park, resorts really need to start with the park passes

2 seasons ago I landed on/hit 3 gapers in a little over 2 weeks. Trust me, they show up out of no where and become extremely difficult to avoid.

200 pounds? you should have just dropped your shoulder. i hope you have a quick recovery, and i hope that that gaper gets his acls taken away for being a moron

Not necessarily true, I can't tell you how many gapers do the hauling ass and out of control backseat style through parks, cutting in front of anyone and everyone.

Did you get information on the person who cut you off? What state did this occur in? You might have legal options. Might. +vibes regardless.

fuck gapers. gotta love how we get our passes pulled for going to fast, or really just being on the baby runs and non park folks dont get in trouble for being idiots in the park.

the kid just took off no care as to me screaming at him or anything, it was in NY, as much as the mtn probably was at fault (there is a connector trail that the kid came shooting down and striaght into the last jump in a 3 jump line) im not sue happy like some people. It sucks i never thought it would come but i think i might have to be done with park, i started filming last year after my injury so looks like ill have to make the best out of this year.

Thanks for the vibes guys hope it doesnt happen to you

yo i just tore my acl last week, so i know how badly it sucks. Furthermore, if some gaper had caused my misery (no skiing, no senior year lax, basically a year thrown down the drain) i would quite literally hunt them down and lynch them with their own entrails in front of their extended family. i suggest you do the same.

i know man 2 days ago im standing out of the way waiting to hit a rail this little kid out of controls runs into me knocks me over then his dads comes up threatening to fight me for running into his kid...

when they go in the park, they stand at the top of the jumps and on the landings. there is no way to avoid them in this situation, other than skipping the jump which sucks

ya screw that guy up next time. make him wish that he never wants to see snow again. obviously you want it more than he does. if it was me i would of lowered a shoulder and layed him out. idc if it hurt me too i would want that kid to learn a lesson.

I'm so sick of getting cut off by dumb tourist/gapers. It fucking sucks, if it's really bad I whip them with my pole and tell them to GTFO of the way.
If I was you, I'd be so angry and sad at the same time. Two years is a lot of your youth out the drain. Multiple knee injuries also mean later years out the drain when your knee can't handle it anymore later on... The better option would have been to one of those skid stops without slowing down. Tilted to the point where you skid on the snow, your skis will take him out in the boots and he Will fall hard. If he gets mad, get even louder and angrier and tell him you were trying to stop so hard that you skid out and it was His Fucking Fault for getting in the way!

Oh right. I forgot. Get well soon. I hope it wasn't anything bad. Fingers crossed, maybe it'll only be a few weeks. Make sure you know your knee's limits though. It's not always the same as the rest of your body after an acl injury.

that sucks man. but if you weigh 200 lbs and are skiing hard your dins should be way higher than 7.5... like thats not even close to how tight they should be for you weight.

I landed on a gaper kid the other day at boreal, and his dad started yelling at me calling me a little faggot, so of course I had to scream back at him saying I almost killed his kid...those gapers are dangerous and they dont even know it!!

First vibes dude I'm hoping for the best!

Second, yea man they can espesh in jump lines. In alot of parks there are always gapers riding though. Most of the time it's little kids that want to ride over the jumps. So their rents just take them through completely oblivious and think its awesome that the little Jrs. are riding up the take offs and over the knuckles enjoying themselves. For some reason I've found they spesh like chilling on the down side of a knuckle which is the single worst place to have a tea party. Funny enough even in an accident or a near miss the parents quickly blame you when they and their children are directly at fault.

A good example of this is at this one place in MN (I ride there a bunch of times a season), the half pipe comes out just infront of the second jump in the big line. It is fairly common on a weekend (atleast when I'm there) to have little kids ride down the middle of the pipe and then over to the knuckle of the second big jump, where they get scared of the steepness of the landing and pizza slice down the middle of the landing at a super slow speed. The problem is even from the drop in you can't see if they have done this because the first jump hides them till they are on the second's deck. Funny thing is this place has small jumps for these kids to learn on and they still do it, and they have to cross over the small line to get to the big.

That is why Park Passes are the only way to go it is extremely effective in keeping gapers out. No one that thinks they might take a lap in the park with their kids is going to pay 10-15 bucks for themselves and then 10-15 for every kid.

He was probably just taking it easy on his knee.

That being said I weigh almost 210 and I ride 178cm to 185's I keep my dins at 9.5 and drop them to 8.5 for my pow skis, and don't prerealease. It's all about how you adjust your forward pressure and making sure that when you buy a binding that your din setting is in the middle 50% of the bindings because your bindings work best in that range. Aka I have Fks 140XXL the range is from 5-14 I ride 9.5 so I am in the middle. I didn't get the 180XXL because I would need to ride around an 11 for them to work at their potential and since I'm more of a park rider and not slaying ultra fast big mountain lines, I keep my dins lower because the forward pressure alone can prevent pre release. The reason I'm adressing your point is because they're are way to many knee injuries (and I have seen several in person all low speed twisting falls) because some kid that weighs 165 pounds or less has their px18s cranked.

word thanks again for the vibes guys, lets hope it does something haha. Fair warning im all fucked up on vicoden and couldnt sleep last night so there is probably gunna be alot of errors in here. Im about 180 or so, so about 20 pounds less then i was saying, i just rounded up. i just kept them exactly how the shop set it

Yeah i dont even get how i hurt it doing what i was doing, all that happened was there was ice then stickey snow gun snow i tried to stop on the ice and my leg buckeled when i hit the bad snow, i was putting a little more weight on that leg because the other one is the one i blew out last season and had been hurting a little.

As for the gaper, there is a connector trail that drops into the park directly between the 2nd and 3rd jump in our line with trees that screen it from where you drop in, park staff didnt put any kinda fence or anything up yesterday and the kid came down the other trail with speed and right infront of me. Its deffanatly a sketchy situation, i could probably get a lot of money out of the mtn if i really wanted to but im not like that, and i couldnt ever make a park shut down just because i wanted a lot of money.

Im calling the dr today to set up an mri and everything ill let you know how it goes
