Gotta say....a lot of those people are not gapers. Just because they aren't wearing fucking Saga or riding on Bents, doesn't mean they can't ski and/or don't love it.

i dont get how theyre gapers... they just skied an amazing line that was untouched and all of them were pretty good skiers.

they had a different style than us, but who cares? and what does money have to do with anything in this video?

Those people are good skiers. First dude was a little whack but from a stance/balance perspective they were damn solid, which is more than I can say for a lot of people. Pole planting technique was questionable, but I don't give a fuck, they were turning just fine.
Wasting those pillows? Excuse me? If you have EVER skied pow and are in any way decent at turning you would appreciate the value of pow turns. I for one would not waste a heli/cat/touring trip on straightlines. There are people that get paid to do that, but I'll take my pow turns thank you. I think its rad that they were getting such nice turns in, looked like mad fun.
And you don't need a shit ton of money to ski pow every day, skins and the proper gear and knowledge give you access to sick lines whenever you want them, you just have to venture outside of the resort paradigm of skiing for a little while.
To the people ripping on their skiing, all I have to say is that you have probably never skied pow before and will probably never ski it that well. They are perfectly competent, and there is more to skiing pow than just flopping down lines out of control on your tails. I'd rather do what they did there than what most of you kids in here think would be fun on that.
 
my favorite part of NS is that 90% of you claim that 99% cant ski at all. this leads me to believe that at least most of these naysayers cant ski for shit themselves. and that was a waste of some sick pillows. fucking double pole plants.
 
I think the dude around the 1 minute mark was a pretty good skier. He is not double pole planting. He is trying to push off and increase his speed in the deep snow, I believe.
 
that was cool... id have a fun time on that run... that top part looked a smidge flat. and the bottom part looked nasty good. ... great double ejac that shits funny... not gapers at all
 
i guess i meant it in the sense of filming them being ridden. of course its not a waste of snow to ski on it, it just popped into my head watching them ski that that it is more fun to watch better skiers on film, im knda rambling now but i have a point in my head. and double pole plants, although people do them, are not good form, so defending that in my book shows ignorance, or lack skiing fundamentals.
 
i am very disappointed with many of you in this thread.

A) Just because they're not wearing the latest in outerwear or following the most up to date fashion trends does not constitute them as a Gaper.

B) Have you ever experienced terrain like that? If you have, you would wish it upon your enemies. Why would you not want someone to experience one of the most fun things in the world?

C) If you actually live in the mountains, and know anything about skiing mountain culture, you would probably like these dudes and be more than stoked to share a beer with them at the end of the day and swap stories. The mountain isn't a terrain park, it's not about image, it's about personal enjoyment. big smiles, face shots, and high fives, leave your attitude at the door.
 
why can't we all just be stoked on people skiing just think of tanner at x games its that kind of stoked on everyone and everything attitude that makes skiing that much better, that much funner.
 
word. Doubt I could because I'm on the east coast, but seriously, why make fun of these kids, if you've never seen more than a foot of pow?
 
hahaha touche. i kind of had that coming with that picture on my profile. thats one of the few pictures i have of myself skiing. one shitty shot doesnt mean i suck all the time. i can do better and have done so. and just for the record that was in fact a gangster hand motion. i call it preclaim

I'd say they deserve it just as much as anyone else. Forbid someone has a different style when enjoying the mountains.

Some on you kids need to get a clue. You act like anyone who isn't wearing the latest gear, or worshipping freeskiing is a gaper. The term gaper has been used frivolously lately, and in many cases, completely wrong. For example, the Mt Snow chairlift evac thread. How the hell were those people gapers? This thread.
 
just throwin this out there...i didnt read every post carefully but i didnt notice anyone say shit about outerwear at all.
 
Damn that is a HUGE heli group, I assume CMH Monashes must be flying Bell 212s or something? Remind me never to pay to ski there.

That said, the people in the video appear to be having an awesome time, and I enjoyed watching it.

i was actually implying that there are a bunch of kids in this threads that feel like they are superior to all other skiers, and because these guys dont have twintips and arent trying to look steezy, they must be below freestyle skiers. But thanks for taking that in a completely random direction. fuckwad.

 
Those dude rip harder than 75% of newschoolers. What do you need to throw backflips off pillows to not be a gaper. 1/2 the people who comment on this shit dont even get the chance to ski this kind of shit and probly wouldn't even be able to get down that hahaha
