Game 7 Lakers vs. Boston

San Antonio's the 7th largest city in the USA and already had a pretty good sized fanbase before their glory years.. I wouldnt call it a small market by any stretch dude.

How the fuck am I being a baby? haha. I just hate what the NBA's become.

As for Portland and Miluwaukee. Those were both simply examples. All I'm saying is you wont see the NBA wanting teams like them in the finals anytime soon.

how the fuck do you explain 37 free throws for the lakers to 17 for the celtics? thats so absurdly lopsided

Miami is the 4th largest urbanized area in the country.

Detroit's a bit smaller at 11, but the state of Michigan is the 8th largest state in the nation.

Enough about populations though...

yea I have wikipedia too, nobody cares about the miami heat or goes to their games and detroit is poor as fuck so population doesn't mean dick, you're still a baby

Citydata.com?

Miami? That's an easy one. The NBA wanted to increase viewership in Florida at the time. Duh. It's a huge market of people. How did it pan out for them financially? Eh... probably not great...

And Detroit, is not "poor as fuck" outside of 8 mile.. Look at the suburbs around it... Dearborn.. Canton.. Farmington Hills... cmon kid... grow up. How the heck else would the Detroit Red Wings have the most wealthy fanbase in sports? People have money there dude...

And i'm not stooping to your 'summer ns' level and calling you names. You can forget about it.

hahaha yea so the nba just manipulates the playoffs every year and you and tim donoghy are the only guys who figured it out. you're bitter about a game 5 years ago than nobody else remembers or cares about.
idk wtf you're talking about the redwings for or how that could possibly be true or how the popularity of a team in a sport dominated by white athletes would compare to one dominated by black athletes
saying you're not going to stoop to my level is the equivalent of calling me names, and I think I only called you a 'baby' anyway so who cares
also I didn't see Doc Rivers going that crazy yelling at the refs, getting t'd up or anything, so either he didn't see anything wrong or he failed to do his job and put pressure on the refs to call it fair
fuck now you have me writing essays

I was never writing essays before.. just making statements. But here you've opened it up.

They manipulate certain games to make a series go their way. Usually the first 2 or 3 games in a series are pretty fair it seems... but then i see bullshit all over the place. It's not just me and Tim Donoghy... hell... Tim Donoghy actually blew the whistle years after I stopped watching the NBA. But, there are a lot of people I know who dislike the NBA because its such a joke. Just look at some of the other comments in these threads... i'm surely not the only one who sees this. I just hate that a great sport like basketball could be reduced to this crap.

I actually stopped watching for a while during the years when Utah kept getting screwed the same way by the bulls. It wasn't as obvious to me then though, so I gave the benefit of the doubt at the time and let it roll... but once the year 2000 rolled around, I noticed some fishy ass shit during games where the lakers, and spurs were involved. Questionable ass calls... over and over again... and very unbalanced free throw numbers amongst teams.

Sports dominated by white or black athletes dont mean jack shit... I'm talking about the fanbase. the Red Wings have the richest FANBASE in sports, and they are located in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Based on season ticket holders/cable package purchases, and everything else, the Red Wings have, by a mile the richest fanbase. If you look at the NBA, the Pistons are surely not anywhere close to the bottom of the list in that regard either... (it would probably go to New Orleans at this rate...)

Have you ever been to a game at the Palace of Auburn Hills where the Pistons play? I went to one when visiting family back in Michigan. It was not like walking into Soweto like you're making Detroit out to me... Besides... who the fuck brought race into this conversation? Not I.

Am I saying that every single game the NBA plays is fixed? No. Am I saying that a lot of them are likely manipulated? The results sometimes speak for themselves, kid.

both of these teams have won a championship. just fyi, and i dont care about if it was before the modern era. and really you wanna talk about donughey(sp) fucking shit up how about the blazers in 2000 wcf.. that was bull shit.... but questionable calls go in any sport... ive heard alot of philley fans calling rigged for the stanly cup

I have literally never complained about refs before in my life, but today was atrocious. I mean seriously that was just ridiculous. I would be ashamed to be a LA fan.
The Lakers weremiserable for almost the entire game. The Celtics outshot them 41% to 33% fromthe field, 38% to 20% from 3 point range, and outshot them from the free throwline 88% to 68%. There is no way the Lakers should have won this game. Sure theLakers were +13 in rebounding and +3 in turnovers, but how is that enough toovercome such awful shooting?

I'll tell you how you overcome it, you shoot 21 free throws in the 4th quarterto 6 for the Celtics. Both teams were scraping and diving and being physical.Garnett throws down a dunk and gets bumped by Gasol on the way down, no call.Kobe barely gets touched by Allen and he gets 3 free throws. The Lakers werebrutal at the free throw line tonight (12 misses) but still eeked out a 4 pointwin through # of attempts.

I hate LA, but being from Indianapolis I really hate Boston. Also Ron Artest lived down the street from me when he played for the pacers and I wanted to see him win a championship since his extended family still lives there and they are pretty nice

To everyone arguing about if the NBA is rigged or not, I don't think it is for a few reasons. One being, when you watch FIBA (international basketball if you don't know what it is) certain players are much better than others. Like Kobe is the usually one of the best players, in the world. That would explain him doing good in the NBA. Also, as for the big market cities, it isn't fixed so they win, they just have the most money and tend to buy the best players. Example: L.A. gets Gasol and Artest and Fisher to go with Kobe, other cities can't afford that, Boston gets, well, their whole team, other teams could not afford Ray Allen and KG and Pierce, but the Celtics can. You might say, oh why don't the Knicks have a good team. they are a big city? A few reasons why, one being they were poorly managed, their gm/owner/front office has been screwed up for the last few years. When David Lee is your go to man, of course you aren't going to be a championship team. Also, basketball isn't that popular in Manhattan. It's not like Brooklyn where people love basketball. Also, the true fans of the Knicks tend to be, not millionaires, who can't afford to go to lots of games, so less money is generated to the Knicks. As for Portland not making it, Portland has to get one great player to go with Brandon Roy. Then maybe they can, but their big move was to get Oden. He got injured. That injury isn't rigged, he just go injured. Plus, look at all the games that came down to the last second where a crazy buzzer beater was hit to win a game. You can't rig a buzzer beater. Now, the refs surely might be in favor of a team, but regardless of how much they are in favor of a team, they still can't make say the Nets beat the Lakers, they just weren't good enough. I will say that watching college basketball surely is more interesting because the players try harder, since they wanna make the NBA, and the NBA sometimes is quite boring, because they don't always try as hard, but saying the whole league is rigged to make L.A. win is quite crazy. L.A., Cleveland, and Boston were the most stacked teams, and we all know what happened to Cleveland, they just didn't try. My personal favorite basketball to watch is FIBA, the players actually try.

god damn it. the lakers were the home team, were more aggressive, and dominated the boards, of course they're going to get more calls. I dont give a fuck about detroit, and yea you kinda brought race into it when you compared the wealth of a group of almost all white people to a group of white people mixed with minorities. A sport which takes 1000s of dollars to compete in your youth, or one that only requires a fucking milk crate and make shift ball. pretty obvious which one will have wealthier fans, still not sure why that was even remotely relevent (also you didn't provide any list), but I'm glad some other people realize you're just a fucking clown with decent writing skills.

Lol. They were no more aggressive than the Celtics... if they were more aggressive, they would have got more calls ON THEM.

I never compared race. The Red Wings have a very mixed fanbase. One of the most mixed bases in hockey... Right up there with New York, T.O., Vancouver, San Jose, and Chicago as far as diversity... so i was not alluding to such a thing... You just thought hockey, and thought "ZOMG ITS ALL WHITE PEOPLE!" and you thought detroit, and you thought "ZOMG ITS ALL POOR AS FUCK BLACK PEOPLE RIOTING ALL THE TIME!"

You'd probably be surprised as fuck to see how much the Red Wings give to youth hockey in inner-city Detroit. Same with Chicago, Toronto, and almost any other team out there...

My point was that Detroit is not as poor as you make it out to be. I'm pretty positive the Pistons fanbase is one of the wealthiest in Basketball... When I went to a game there, it was definitely mostly white people for sure.

I couldnt find the source on the internet that I got that information from, but I know it was an article in Sports Illustrated from a few years ago... it was based on season ticket holders, prices of season tickets, home value of where season ticket holders lived, cable package subscribers, internet viewing package suscribers, etc etc etc etc etc. If I remember correctly, the San Francisco Giants were 2nd, and some new york team was 3rd...

Anyways. Back to my point. The NBA is a joke =]

kobe not only got in trouble for rape..... but also prostitution for sucking ref's dicks for lopsided calls

Haha. I dont care that the celtics lost. I hate them too, because they have had the refs on their side as well. The lakers got screwed 2 years ago in a few games, and I totally called it before it happened - I thought it was a heap of shit...

I'm just saying I wish the NBA would clean up their act because I like basketball, and I'd like to watch it again someday without seeing this crap.

still talking about a hockey team from detroit
how can you say that a team who gets twice as many rebounds isn't being more aggressive, the more aggressive team always gets the benefit of the refs, have you ever played any team sport in your life.. again doc didn't get a single T, blame him. lakers had 19 fouls, boston had 25, thats not that big of a difference, even less since some of them were just out of desperation trying and failing to get rebounds.
but no you're right the NBA fixes everything, thats why Lebron got swept in the finals, thats why we saw Lebron vs Kobe this year, and thats why the Spurs will win their FIFTH title next year
and that smiley face isnt going to piss me off, just make me realize that you're a lame computer nerd, the same guy who made a thread like, "what fast food should i eat tonight?" pretty sweet dude .... I remember that thread specifically and being like, 'wow I know I spend a lot of free time online but this is just fucking pathetic'. but every word I type here makes me feel like a computer nerd too so I gotta stop.

Haha. You're calling me a 'computer nerd? I don't even remember making such a thread.. Not that I'm denying it... but if you can remember who made what thread, then I don't even know what to say... Besides, I'll admit... I am a bit of a computer nerd =]

Oh... I shouldn't make smiley faces... you get all riled up when I do, it seems.

Wow holy shit I got so drunk last night. Fans outside the Staples center lit a taxi on fire, there were a bunch of SWAT vans and riot police on the freeway it was awesome.
So yeah Lakers kick ass.
England and America both tied though which kind of blows.

its not like I remember every thread, I remember it specifically because of how pathetic I thought it was at the time, I actually stopped for a second and contimplated the direction of my life since this is the first online forum I've belonged to and I've felt myself get sucked in to computer nerd status and I was just hoping I never got bad enough to make a thread like that

you are making yourself sound like an idiot!
but hey, you're right, the entire National Basketball Association is one big scam. It's terrible when the best teams put up the best records, and the best players win the MVP and win championships.
IT'S A TRAVESTY!

Also I totally called Payton Manning throwing the superbowl during the pregame thing that was all about hurricane Katrina. When they showed him before the game he looked really weird like he was pissed off or mad about something, way different than he usually looks before games and I just knew he was gonna throw it. Motherfucker was on fire all day, killing it on near impossible throws getting right the the receivers. Manning throws an interception like every game though so IDK but I thought the whole thing was a little suspicious. Sort of like how The Patriots were unstoppable right after 9/11. I wish LA had a football team, shit makes me sad. By far the most interesting sport to watch on tv, except maybe soccer.

Serious comment is serious except I just realized I forgot about hockey. And I'm talking team sports here. I'd rather watch skiing or skating or MMA than just about any team sport. I love football though, when I was a kid it was always my favorite sport aside from skiing. I was beast too, one year I got MVP offensive line and defensive line. Baseball is a snore fest and basketball is too high scoring so baskets don't mean anything. I love going to any sports game though, I buy cheap seats for the Dodgers all the time, and go watch the Lakers sometimes too. One time I got floor seats from my mom's work, was sitting a few seats away from Jack Nicholson and shit, Shaq jumped for an out of bounds ball and nearly killed me. It was great.
But yeah football is my favorite team sport to watch on tv.

Naw, they should make it like 30 vs 30!

A spainish team played 11 vs 300 school kids, and they won by one goal haha

When I was little my school was mostly mexican kids so we always played soccer at lunch and the games were like 50 vs 50 and everyone just chased the ball around haha.
