Gaining speed switch

hmm, maybe tuck a little more, lean a little more forward so that your back tips almost manual, it could help, but yeah make sure your not doing anything to slow you like snowplowing or something.

you really have to commit to keeping those skis locked straight. also if your on a bit of a flat or whatever...either take a bunch of skates and hop switch or learn how to skate switch

i usually skate and get more speed than i need and then turn switch because pretty much everyone skis a bit slower switch than regular. but you should check and make sure you arent snow plowing. i used to do that

if im standing straight looking back i feel that i start to snow plow, but if i lean forward, put my hands on my right knee, and look past my left shoulder, i dont plow unless i purposely do it

You know you have the coolest cab driver when he says, 'And we're off like a prom dress.'

keep ur feet parrell i backwards snow plow sometimes and it is not fun undershooting a jump trying a zero spin.... so just make sure ur not snowplowing, and if u are start up a lil more than what u would hit the jump regular...

yeah i used to snowplow backwards to, just practice keeping ur skis straigh ad pivoting at ur waist not in ur legs

i dont think so, leaning forward will just push your skis into a wedge sorta. try centering your weight and remaining balanced so you dont have to move too much to correct yourself.

thats what i used to do and still do sometimes...what i do to elimintae that is 1. look over my shoulder more 2. keep ckecking to make sure that im not negative snowplowing and 3. lean forward...this straightens your skis surprisingly enough

my problem used to be that i wasn't used to the speed switch so it felt like i was going faster than i really was, so i just worked on that.. dont know if that helps but there it is.

I'll nosepress your funbox if you lipslide my handrail. -awesome pickup line on the slopes

you damn rookies.........i usually keep one ski farther forward and i always turn my body so i get less wind resistance....and dspin is a choch

i'm sure 99% of this site knows that jon gets laid more than 99% of this site. --strode420

is it faster to ski into a jump switch or to do a 180 right before you hit the jump? like gain all your speed and then do a quick 180 before you hit it

it can be depending on the inrun but it can also look gay

i'm sure 99% of this site knows that jon gets laid more than 99% of this site. --strode420

i hear you there, i thought i was goin so fast then i would revert around and i thought i was goin so slow

You know you have the coolest cab driver when he says, 'And we're off like a prom dress.'

to much time in the park and not enough time learning how to really ski switch

you need to do whole runs switch and learn to really carve backwards, not just reverse snowplow

take everything you know about going fowards and relearn it...

use it as your morning warm up runs...top to bottom switch down long groomed expert and inetrermediate runs...learn speed control, pre-jumping, carving, etc...

your goal should be to get to the point where it does not matter which direction your going...just like good snowboarders...if you spend enough effort and have enough skill it wont matter cause it is all the same...

PLUS - nothing freaks high end carver mom and dad types more than someone laying down railroad tracks on a morning groomer...

unless your a park monkey who does not know how to turn...then your jusr screwed and will never have any flow from jump to jump

Also if you are carving make sure you look over the downhill ski shoulder, and i find staggering your feet to the fall line helps to much to even know. its also because your back tips (unless centre mounted) are shorter than your front tips, thus making to move slower.

id rather see someone point it into a jump switch, not jump switch b4 the jump, unless the inrun is way to intense or somthing, which it never is

if were trying to film my friend nathan and he hops into switch its impossible cuz he gains so much fucking speed...its like a crappy toyota turning into a ferrari...i dont know how he does it but something he's doing works!

switch carving...edges go faster than base...

work to live...not live to work.

work to ski...but only if you ski to work. The simple equation to skibumming 101

...i didnt do it

leaning foward makes you stand up strait and it looks like a big penis. what I do is crouch, lean downhill a little, and always stay on your edges. you can't even do a switch trick unless you're on your edges anyways.

because I like poop.

its not fun overshooting a jump doing a zero spin either. i think its all about knowing your speed. get good at it regular and then start small and work your way up switch.

dont be a pussy and straight line it. you shuld learn how to carve for speed checks because pizzaing and digging your edge slow you down a ton

another good thing to do when u go off the jump switch is to look straight ahead and then once u see ur skis have left the jump start spinning or w/e, i used to spin way too early and i was like wtf im loosing alot of speed, that helped me alot, most of all just be real comfortable doing switch and work on it, it takes practice and time dont worry

do it on one foot, you can't snowplow on one foot. Unless you start sliding sideways, then you'll go off the side of the jump and die.

balance, practice, strength

it helps so much for recovering from off balance landings and saves your ass if you lose a ski at high speed

i think thats what i do but i cant remember. it been to long sicnce ive skied

i try to put my ski boots so they are touching right together so my skis are really straight and close together and then i put a bit of my weight forward and tuck a little... not too much but just a little
