Gainers

I've been trying gainers into pools and havent been getting around all the way. i can do backflips all day (including dryland off of little walls and stuff.)
anyone else do allot of gainers have some tips? and also, how well do they translate to backflips and rodeos on the slopes as apposed to being able to just do backflips off snow?

no idea but if you spin left and are doing it off a diving board you want your last step to be with your left foot and throw your right knee up into your chest as you run forward and look up and back to see it

i praticed gainers on the tramp, and then i tryed it into pools and rivers. You want to start off with a run and flick ur right foot up, and do the backflip like you would do on a tramp. Make sure you commit because people get scared they are going to hit there head or land flat on there back. Doing a backflip on snow is the same thing as doing it on a tramp.

Count your steps, make sure you jump on your best foot, it 'll help a lot.

Throw your head back as far as you can and grab your legs as fast as you can too to make you rotate faster.

If you run fast enough, you won't land near the side of the pool or diving board so concentrate on jumping higher than farther

Keep your head straight, if you move it a little bit to the side, you'll cork a bit and probably won't land straight.

I hope it will help you, give me some news about it. Once you'll get it, you'll see it's super fun!

Im not really scared of hitting my head. im running to do it and i throw it fully commited. i just cant get it fully around.

thanks for the advice of counting my steps and throwing one knee first, i'll use it and give an update.

I find most people dont pop enough. They just kinda sling their bodies. Myself I just take 3 big step and extend up. And if you still can't the rotation then just tuck?

i do alot of cliff jumping and such, one thing is ive noticed is the faster you run the slower your rotation will be. dont ever worry about hitting your head on the edge you never will. try it standing and push out as hard as you can. or take a couple steps and push off with your dominant foot.

i bounce with 2 feet off the board, and just arch and thrust my hips as hard as i can. it took me forever when i was first learning them because i wouldnt commit and id just land on my back. you just gotta dial in and not pussy out

Dude how do you learn dryland backflips? They look sick, I would love to learn how to do them, I have a throw mat from my gymnastic day but its pretty hard. I've been thinking about taking it outside and having my brother spot me and just give er a go. Also I can backflip so easily on a tramp but I am scared shitless of doing a standing back or gainer off of a diving board. I do all sorts of flips of boards and pool sides but can never bring myself around to backflip for fear of hitting me head.

Well i started just going off of pool edges. it was pretty easy there so my fear of it started to go away. lately i've been at the beach standing on the fire pit edges and doing it from there... the first couple times i tried i landed on my face because i didnt start my actual backflip till late. My face in the sand didnt hurt that bad, then i just kept trying and got it down... still wont do it without a ledge though.

my HTC Hero wont upload my vid, anyone have advice on that?

personally i like them off springboards. i bounce straight up then through one just like a backflip after i jumped. unlike a backflip i find it easier to lead with my legs

Its a backflip with forward momentum. like i said, i can do a backflip... but as soon as i run forward to one it throws everything off.

bounce off your left foot and throw your right knee up to your chest once you leave the ground bring your other knee up to tuck into a cannon ball like thing while constantly looking up.

it looks like you're jumping too far out and not enough up. you just need some more pop. you're not even close to hitting your head, so just practice jumping higher off the board. otherwise you've got it all pretty solid.

dont bounce with both feet. run plant left foot kick up right into your chest and flip. its hard to do off of diving boards. easier off like maybe a 3-5 foot thing into water.

i always plant with both feet and bounce really hard then just spot the pool, i can do double gainers and stuff that way. for learning i would say u just need to commit fully to the flip, dont worry about ur head hitting its not likly

your allowed to do gainers off the diving board at my pool... theyre super sketch though anyway. i hit my head doing a backflip once and now im kinda freaked out to do them on anything but a tramp

I had this problem when i first started. What helped me was to hop a 90 as you jump onto the end of the board. Then when you plant throw a backflip like normal. this will make you feel the motion of traveling another way other than back with a backflip. Then just progressively lessen the angle of your turn as you hop to plant.

Also when you hop to the end of the board, you're closing your chest down. jump up more and drive your feet down, then set and go.

Try learning how to do them into a foam pit. that way theres almost a 0% of injury but at the same time you learn how to properly huck your body backwards

diving boards= scary a shit

I would learn everything in a foam pit if I could.

And guys its not a problem of commitment, I'm not worried about hitting my head, I think I need to spot my landing.

It's all in the hips.
If you trying to get your head around and your body isn't following, then you should concentrate on thrusting your hips as high into the air on take off as possible. Try and go up with your hips, while swinging your head back. Dick to the sky.

your diving board is shit. not gonna lie go to a good bouncy one and do that exact same thing.
