G.R. Rail Jam

Im really trying to get a rail jam off the ground in downtown GR. Im talking to a couple of local promoters and also working on a couple liability issues with the city but nothing serious.I've got a couple bands interested. Food stands. Itll be a loose semi formal type thing, like a jam for 2 or 3 hrs, unlimited runs and anyone who dominates consistently 'wins'. small prizes im sure. If anybody has more strings to pull let me know, help is welcome!! Im shooting for mid-march. eM me at teatr@fsuimail.ferris.edu serious inquirys please!!! i dont want my eM flooded. sounds like fun if you can get it to happen. are you talking urban rails, or park rails set up downtown, either would be fun, but urban would be way hard to make happen i think. better off doing low key urban missions all winter long ;)

 
park rails will be brought in, the date is not set in stone but im thinking the weekend of march 19th or the weekend of march 26th. again im still talking with promoters and will have more info. within the week

 
ok, heres what i found out today...i can get use of riverside park for free and they only need a couple days notice. but im still going to see about the calder plaza downtown and also 6th street park on monroe street. ill know for sure within the week. as for a date it will be either sat. the 19th of march or the following sat. the 26th...as for equipment, i can come up with rails but if you want to bring something, do it up, i want to have some variety...you know, a box, a couple kinks, maybe an s, who knows right now...ill have more info. everyday so keep checking in...peace out

 
My cousins live in Allendale which is like 20 mins from downtown G.R. so if you can make this jam happen I'd be interested in a trip. I could stock up on herbs too, it's like 1/6 of the price we pay in the u.p.!

OK the latest developments...Im currently waiting on the city for the reservation forms for the park. It will be held at one of the following...Calder Plaza, Ah Na ba when Park(by gr ford museum), sixth street park, or riverside. Riverside is free of charge. the others have like a 50-100 dollar rental fee so we might end up charging like 5 or 10 bucks to ride. But it would be at a nicer venue...The only thing i dont have is a start ramp. I was thinking a rented set of bleachers with snow packed all in the stairs?? I have rails but no boxes so if you have cool stuff bring it by all means!!! This Will Be Fun!!! I look foward to seeing everyone there!!! Ill have more details ASAP this week!!

 
Where do you live at Ferris? On campus or off. I also go to ferris and all my friends board and a couple of us ski. I might be down even though I still have not got the concept of rails.. shits hard!

i would just make sure that it isn't the same time as springboard or any other thing up north and i can bring a crew down.

JUst for a note:

MARQUETTE crew will make the drive with bout a dozen or so, if not more, if the date was MARCH 19th, we have a freestyle camp on the 26th, so that date would be a bummer

OK heres my latest developments as of sunday the 23rd. I just got done speaking with my homie at 280studios, the same company that sponsored Rare Air at Cburg. They are going to sponsor and promo this event for us!! So keep checking this forum for updates, also check out 280gr.com for more details. there may not be much info. about the comp. until the first week of feb. but keep checking these postings!! 280 does a great job promoting these events and this is just getting rolling. thanx for keeping it going fellas, as far as updates go, we're shopping for insurance policies right now in case anyone decides to sue, and theyre expensive so we need to raise money. Sponsors are excellent about promotions but theyre stingy about handing out cash. If anyone has ideas holla. No problem about snow, if its nessecary we can import some from a parking lot or something!!

 
do a 50 50 raffle that way you can make some cash for insurrance. this comp should be fun.
