G CHORDS SUCK!!!!!

Was going to post something similar, but you definitely took it a bit further than I would have.

Well done!

But seriously, problems with G Chords? Mind elaborating a bit more?

You have probably played guitar for 1 day? If you make a thread about G chords..

Holy moly quit playing right now

OP?

D#sus2sus4 will make your problem seem a lot smaller. Jazz chords make any basic chord feel very simple.

i am no expert, but what is that shit on the b string? isnt that played open?

and i gotta agree. even as a bad bad guitar player, g chords are probably one of the easier ones. i suck so hard at switching chords, but cant really say that i have problems getting a single one down at least

A g chord (as any other standard maj or min chord) is comprised of only 3 notes. You can substitute these notes any way you wish.

And yeah, I learned a g chord almost the first time i picked up the guitar. First chord ever. Not bragging, but it just seems like one of the easiest after E minor. F chords took me soooo long to learn though. OP, just keep switching from all the chords you know to G very slowly. If you have the patience to do it for a half hour, you will get it.

hahahahah. impressive 1st response.

and to OP... you might want to give up on the guitar and buy yourself a triangle

if you can't play a G then you should give up before you faint at seeing an F or god forbid a B

Are you kidding, G is the easiest chord second only to Em. You will absolutely die on the bar chords like F and such. If you have spent over 10 minutes you are waisting your time on guitar. Seriously i love the guitar PM with any questions.

The point is that open g tuning results in a g chord when all of the strings are strummed open (no involvement of the left hand).

Most people ive found that play guitar don't know barre chords...

To OP

It will come with time man. If you want to make sure you have the transition down, play D to G back and forth as it requires you to move your fingers a long ways. Also just a tip from me. Practice playing open G with your 2nd 3rd and 4th fingers instead of usiing your 1st 2nd and 3rd. It will help on making the transition to an open C MUCH easier.

And to those of you wondering the note on the B string. Thats just the 5th of the G chord being played a 2nd time. If you play an open B, that is the major 3rd which is also a repeat. So either way works but the one where you play the 5th is called Folk G typically.

Btw my favorite chord is an Emin9 chord played using 4 open strings and the 5th and 9th played on the A and D strings. Listen to riviera paradise if you wanna hear it in full force. Strum upwards by the bridge and it will make girls throw up orgasms all over the place.

First and middle fingers on 3rd frets of E and A strings.

Pinky and 3rd finger on 3rd fret of E and B.

Really easy once you get used to it. If you can't do it just play the top four strings (EBGD) while baring (playing multiple stringers with one finger) the 3rd fret on the E and A strings. Easy G
