FX-1 or VX2100?

Skill level? Price range? You need to fill us in on your details man. They're two different cameras. One is HD, and one isn't, for starters. I think that just because you made this thread you'd want the VX...

fx1 if you want to be an inexperienced waster of money, but still i straight G

vx if you want to still have a sick nasty camera and still be a G, but less than the FX1

The VX2100 is a pretty decent DV camera. The FX1 is a shitty HDV camera. If you need an HDV camera, get the FX1. If HD doesn't really matter, go with the VX.

HDV is okay, but I had a frustrating love/hate relationship with the FX1 for the couple years I owned one.

I just bought an HV30 as a B cam/fun cam and I gotta say, for $800 you can't beat it and I would take it over a VX any day if I had to choose.

i was thinking of getting that cus it looks real good and ive only heard good things about it. but someone told me you cant interchange the lenses. is he an idiot or is this true?

sick so when he gets it let me know how it is and what not. a pm wil = ++++karma for you. and that goes for anyone else who owns it also. thanks

hes getting it in a few weeks my cuz has it already he just got it last week doesnt know if it has interchable lens but its a sick camera i would def buy it

bhphotovidoe has them wit a 250$ rebate the cam is 2500 so it comes to 2250 thats a good deal on other sites its 3000

The lack of intelligence in this thread is incredible. First I'll answer the thread creators question. If you can't research a camera well enough to decide on your own (I'm guessing this is what you did since you didn't post ANY pros/cons for yourself on either camera) then you should not be asking a skiing website on opinions. Also, I believe there are many threads just like this on this website even though I recommend you join a camera site like vxuser.com, dvxuser.com, skateperception.com or dvinfo.net. You need to tell us your past camera experience and what your goals are with the camera before anyone can help you.

As to the other people. Please stop posting in threads you know nothing about. If you're just trying to be a smartass then take it somewhere else. The kid is obviously looking for help and you're doing nothing to help him.

alright, ive had two shitty $300 cameras. i mean im not that experianced, but ive been into photography for while and ive made plenty of edits. i really wanna take it to the next step, if not a few steps. i just got a macbook pro and i plan on getting final cut pro. Im definatly gonna use it for skiing but i also plan to use it for documentaries when i go to guatemala again and things like that. i just haven't really read up on a lot of cameras and shit like that. I have a friend who ive filmed with. He has the sony hdr A1U. i just wanted some information and some tips on what to look for in a camera. sorry if i dont know everything about cameras.

Hey no worries...I was kinda a dick when I first posted, but thats because you didn't elaborate on your question...now, we still need to know your price range and stuff, but it seems like you'd still want the VX, unless you can pay for an FX-1, than just get that. The VX will put out good quality footage that, although isn't HD, will look damn good.

HD or not HD? Simple question. If you want HD get the fx1 if yuo don't get the vx. But honestly, i wouldn't buy any dv camera other than a dvx, but thats just me.
