I just saw some of Absinthe Film's Futureproof and its ill. DCP & Nicolas Mueller tear up northern Japan, sick technical powder riding.

Does anyone happen to have the soundtrack? I am specifically looking for the song in the DCP & Mueller Japan segment. It has lyrics like "We're all part of the system" and it kind of a chill-out track.
 
fuck, no way did they use Class System by Handsome Boy Modelling School...

damn it all to hell.

Now I really want to see that movie even more.
 
Didn't someone come on here and post a review of this saying it had "too much pow"? I remember it distinctly because it compelled me to throw my monitor out a nearby window in my blind rage and storm out to go kill a dozen small helpless kittens.

In other words, I want to see this movie.
 
Yeah, the Absinthe guys shoot a lot of powder and their movies always turn out epic. Its really cool, innovative powder riding too. You won't find too many rails in their movies, look to Burning Bridges for that.

Absinthe were the guys who released Pop last year, with the legendary Travis Rice segment.
 
pow riding CAN be boring - like most I've seen in ski movies this year. Just skiers riding down the hill - whop-dee-fucking-doo.

The majority of pow riding that is in movies from Absinthe and the robots (RIP) is ACTUALLY entertaining because they're doing tech shit on the mountain and not just making the same turns we've seen for the last 10 years.

Now I haven't seen Futureproof yet but if it's anything like Pop I'm sure I'll be stoked on it.
 
I'm in the works of promoting a premier for Futureproof right now.

It's going to be a double feature season kickoff party. The other movie we are showing is a MAJOR ski vid this year but the details are still being worked out so I'd be smart not to say anything just yet.

It's good to know people are liking futureproof.
 
Yeah but... you have no idea what you're talking about... Afterlame was one of the best snowriding movies I've seen, and Pop was probably better than any ski movie from last season. They have the potential to be better and more enjoyable than ski movies, for sure.
 
The Robots didn't say for sure that they are finished, just that they are taking a break. One of their guys is doing the DC mountain lab video, it might be cool to check out.

I totally agree on the pow riding can be boring... most ski pow is quite boring because of the way its shot and because there has been no innovation in the riding itself as long as I can remember. The lines get more technical, but there just isn't anything special added.
 
futureproof is the best film i have seen this year BY FAR. also, to the other persons point, YES snowboard movies are still ahead of ski films. movies like TBC and SH6 are good steps and moving in the wright direction, but there is still a ways to go. and to the kid who said "lame" wasn't good, i hope you were kidding...
 
really well you must have been dropped on your head about 8 too many times as a baby?

either that or your just plain dillusional. Lame was one of the greatest if not the greatest ski or snowboard movie ever made.
 
How can you not like LAME? And yes snowboard movies are better than ski movies, its always been that way and prolly will stay that way.
 
Afterbang, Lame and Afterlame are my 3 most prized possessions......ski vids are still at the copy mack dawg from 3 years ago stage
 
I could not agree with you more. Lame is my absolute favourite snowboard video ever!
 
as much as i like ski videos, dont get me wrong i love them, some snowboard videos are just so sick i have to buy them. lame, afterlame, and pop definitely fall into that catagory. i will be adding futureproof to that list very soon. snowboard videos are way ahead of ski videos. hopefully tbc and shanghai will be taking steps in the right direction.
 
ya afterlame was the greatest vid ever. december is totally different tho. its kinda boring but hilarious. not worth buying

that video sucked. the riding was sick, but the music was so boring. i watched it back to back with from ___ with love, and it was just not even comparable.
 
futureproof is fucking gnar. everytime the little robot pops up on the screen on the DVD click on the enter button and its a full on bonus feature. romain de marchi goes so big off a bc hit he comes within 10 feet of flats from high. DCP and Muller in Japan is insane. tree jibs and corks off pillow lines in thick trees with over head pow. gigi ruff flies off a cornice and flies 80 feet down the side off an AK line and lands dead flat. the snow is so deep, the bc hits are so amazing and the wrecks on the tree jib are enough alone to buy the movie.
 
All thier guys are riding for different production companies. Parker is in mountain lab/his personal proeject (its called something december). Englesman, hampus, jakob, are all in derelictica. Benedek is in some movie i cant remember the name of, i saw the ad for it somewhere. No idea where christoph is, jussi is still with mack dawg.

as for robot food, travis said "robot food was fun while it lasted" he may have said but thats behind me but im not sure so dont quote me on that haha.

Looks like robot food is over though.
 
Futureproof is the grimey shit. MMmmm soooo good. Personally Pop still left a better impression on me than Futureproof did though. Rediculously ill flick. The Handsome Boy song is soooo dope, I nearly shat myself when I say it in a movie. Just like when I saw Lemon Jelly and Lovage in Pop.
