So i have been saving up for some time, my parents and grandparents (grandma is a photographer, who got me my 7D last year for my bday) are behind me so this briefing is here inb4 despite. and anyone else saying im wasting money or extremely spoiled...i will be lucky if i get a lens and some accessories from my parents, this will be from me. I am definitely using my 7D for more cinematography usage than I am photo, but also want to be able to have that beautiful L glass for my more scenic shots that I wasnt getting with my 18-135mm and have more versatility.
So far I have noticed that I enjoy taking portraits, closeups of things outside/inside, and more importantly, scenery...and with that, i've been doing research / readings and watching tut's on everything and think i have narrowed it down to what i want...
Right Now: 7D, canon 50mm 1.4 is all i have (had an accident with my 18-135mm kit lens so instead of spending the $$ to fix it im just saving it for my new lenses / sturdier tripod which was what caused the damage in the first place.
Shopping Cart / Wish List (Hopefully get a majority of these things by time summer starts/ends):
1. Zacuto Z-Finder Pro 2.5x
- http://store.zacuto.com/Z-Finder-Pro-2.5x.html
2. Canon EF 100,, f/2.8L IS USM Macro - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=647011&is=USA
3. Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=397662&is=USA
4. Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=183198&is=GREY
5. Canon BG-E7 Batt Grip - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=652388&is=REG
6. Canon 430EX II Speedlite Flash - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=571297&is=USA
7. Rode Shotgun VideoMic - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/363083-REG/Rode_VIDEOMIC_VideoMic_Camera_Mounted.html
Questions: the 70-200mm f/4L is a steal and i dont think i really need the extra stops with the 2.8L so i'm going to be making that one of my last purchases...do you think the 2.8 would be a better investment in the long run? or should i get a complete diff telephoto up to 300mm, ive shot with this one and have read that its the best bang:buck.
also im debating on a shoulder rig or gunstock for my hdslr and i've looked at these:
RIGS
ZACTUO Striker (would be a bundle with a free viewfinder that i listed above) - http://store.zacuto.com/Striker.html
SIMPLIS Dual DSLR Rig - http://www.cinevate.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=261
GLIDECAM HD2000 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/579907-REG/Glidecam_HD_2000_HD2000_Stabilizer_System.html
REDROCK Nano RunningMan - http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/Nano/RunningMan
** if i'm just looking for a more stable motion rig for moving, but also want to be able to capture the details as far as pulling/pushing the focus wouldnt a shoulder or gunstock rig be more beneficial? im not looking to take this on the hill just yet so i dont know if i would need to get a glidecam...take a look around the zacuto / simplis sites...the redrock ones seem a bit expensive, especially with that ZACUTO offer with a free $370 value ViewFinder PLUS the rig itself...what do you guys think?
thanks in advance for the help.
