Future of trolling?

Do you guys think that trolling will die fairly soon? I can't really se it going any further. The worst shit has already been pulled, and even the extreme stuff will loose it's shock value eventually.

The other day i heard cnn mention how some memorial page for the dead plank guy had to be closed down due to "trolling". No explanation or anything. Even though most people should know what it is by now, i don't think many 40-year-olds hear in scandi know what it is.

I'm just curious about how we will look back at this part of internet history in a few years. Do you think that it will continue to evolve? Or maybe just root itself in its present form and live on forever? Or maybe even go away as a dead fad when it has been played out?

"Trolling" has existed since we could communicate.

So, no, I don't think so. The web has given us a sense of anonymity that has really helped saying stupid or unreasonable things on purpose flourish.

The thing is, as long as there are people who let themselves be duped, it will go on, and I'm 100% for it.

PS. I don't consider spamming some dead guy's FB page as trolling, it's just disrespect.

i remember tying fake obituaries to carrier pigeons in order to troll. my how times have changed

True, trolling is pretty much the next generation of prank calls and what not. i guess it's gonna go on forever amongst the hardcore community. But it almost feels like it has hit the mainstream now. I'm wondering if that is eventually gonna put an end to it on such a large scale as we are experiencing it now? like most people just get tired of it and don't bother any more, since it's "out".

You guys get where i'm going at? what do you think?

I'm waiting for the day when people stop trolling the internet and it is a safer place for everyone.

Hopefully judgement day singles them out

i always think about, what if some historians (for example romans, tacitus, or greek, homer, etc) "trolled" us hard?

like if nothing they wrote ever happened?

the funny part is that platon (describing atlantis) is considered pretty legit when he is not talking about atlantis.
