Furnishing a house?

I know a lot of you rent houses with your friends. How much did you guys think you payed to put in couches and tables etc. in your house? We would most likely be getting all of our shit from either Craigslist or a thrift store/goodwill.
 
college campus when school lets out for the summer. kids will be throwing shit out by the dumpster full. when i was in school my roomate and i refurnished our small apartment TWICE dumpster diving in June
 
My first place I spend a grand total of $800 on furniture. I bought a nice mattress and frame for 700 and a desk for 100 from ikea. The rest we got for free.

If you don't mind sleeping on a foam block on the floor you can do it for free.

My second place has solid wood furniture, pictures on the wall, good kitchen utensils and full leather and that was about 15 grand for everything (used).

 
it totally depends on how much you want to spend dude. the sky is the limit, obviously. When I was in grad school, i picked up a nice reclining leather couch and matching leather reclining chair for $150 buck, I think. Everything else was hand me downs - given to us for free.

Just browse CL if you want to do it on the low low - that's where I picked up the leather couch and recliner.
