Funbox construction

i was wondering what that ridged shit on the sides of the top of a funbox is.

Anyone have any ideas/tips for making one, btw?

i know there was just a thread on this, but its already packed with responses so i decided to start a new one.

 
yeah man, at our hill they have this plastic stuff on the tops, its called polyethelene, its prety much like a hard plastic. i dont know where you can get it though

If you have the bling and can find some pre-bent Lexan, you're good to go, the shit is indestructable, but pretty expensive.

Otherwise I'd say try polyethylene, that's pretty durable.

Metal just rips your skis up, but it is the easiest to work with.

LExan is the way to go or pvc sheet is nice or plexiglass or nylon or p-tex there are alot of matierials you can use.

 
plexiglass slides really good but if you dont use a coping than if you slide down the edge of it than the side just breaks off in chunks. its stil slides but then u have places to catch yor edge

 
lexan is the way to go...250 times stronger than glass fiberglass is only about 20 and in the cold and from use fiberglass can break into VERY sharp edges...its cheaper tho not everyones as lucky as me and got 6 huge polycarbonate (lexan) sheets fpr free
