Me and my girlfriend are thinking about heading downtown Montreal for a weekend in November and were looking for some cool things to do. Were 22/23, enjoy the nightlife, drinking, partying, casino, raves, but during the day just want some fun things to do .. Basically just looking for a trendy young area of Montreal where we can find some cool things to do, unique shopping, etc.. Sort of the Queen St W, Toronto, but of Montreal.. I havent been in a few years and really the only thing I remember about the city was all the bars were on crescent street. Also, whatever it is needs to be english speaking, which shouldnt be an issue. And also any specific ideas from you guys would be awesome! +K

If you are with you're girlfriend , head out to the little italy , there are some mad good restaurant for cheap.

but yeh club scene is awesome try la banquise afterwards. check out the mont royal.

Montreal is an awesome city , you'll have fun !

went 2 years ago for new years and we just kinda started walkin around everywhere and found a ton of sick shit. I dont remember any specifics due to inebriation but the street art is unreal. watch out for the bums though we had to beat the shit out of one of em who ripped us off

overall a super fun city even if you have no idea where you are or where you're going

I was walking in montreal during the day and right in the middle of the city were some kids skiing urban.

take the 80 bus up ave du parc to st viateur and go check out the mile end neighborhood. such a sick neighborhood! get some gyros at arahova on st. viateur. also check out little italy and jean talon market. i love that part of the city

you should check out the Vieux Port de Montréal and Place Jacques Cartier. Lots of good restaurants and bars. Have fun!

THE CLOTHES POOL. I forget what it's called or where it is, but if anyone knows help me out. There's this thrift store along the metro line. You walk in and get a small free cup of green tea in a bamboo cup. There is a literal pool of clothes 10 feet across by 20 feet wide and 8 feet deep. It is unreal, you can make holes and forts and everything in it is a dollar.

hahaha amazing.

I just booked some hipster hotel called Chez Swan near crescent st. Reviews are good and seems pretty different.

It's at Eva B's: https://maps.google.ca/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=Eva+B's&fb=1&gl=ca&hq=Eva+B's&hnear=0x4cc91a541c64b70d:0x654e3138211fefef,Montreal,+QC&cid=0,0,3017997917419341468&ei=2o9WUMXUKeHu0gHUn4C4AQ&ved=0CHwQ_BIwAA

You should also wander up St. Laurent into the plateau. Good bars, and then vintage shops etc. for when you're up there during the day.

If you want to check out some sweet spots that most people visiting Montreal might not know about... I would recommend going to off the hook on st cats if you want to do some shopping. As far as going out, if you want a great brewery bar type of place, check out dieu de ciel which is north and if you want to go out for a good night at a really sweet club type place, I would recommend going to velvet which is in the old Montreal.

ok now that i can type via computer i can offer some help.

so shopping in montreal... well i dont know i mostly go to the malls in downtown, its 4 malls all attached underground, and the shopping can range from average to ecclectic. but i guess st laurent street holds most interesting style clothing, but some shops can be more expensive. empire is worth checking out for skater type of clothes because its a massive shop. there is also underworld if that interests you.

most interesting ski shops are found either on the north or south shore(off island). theres axis, and dstructure, and other empires, which are pretty nicely stocked with lovely products. theres a new element store in the west island, if it tickles your fancy. the shop is really stunning, but the trip is only worth it i guess if youre really down for it.

if you so happen to come the last week of october, theres the lanterns and pumpkin festival at the botanical gardens that ends oct 31, which showcases cool lanterns all handmade in china, and its a night time event, but worth seeing at least once because its pretty cool. the pumpkins stuff is just all handmade designed stuff that win prizes and etc.

theres obviously the museums, we have fine arts, contemporary, historical stuff too, as well as travelling shows, and permanent collections. wednesdays i believe are free at the beaux arts. i think the mccord museum is free, its small but has some mummies and dinosaur bones.

cool food places i would reccomend, thought its vegan, check out aux vivres on st laurent above mont royal. chile pepper brownie, whats up! or ginger apple juice and craziness if that's your thing. theres also an amazing australian pie shop on mont royal and parc, called ta. surprisingly delicious meat pies and desserts. theres santropol for ecclectic sammiches and soups, and deliciousness(its in my top 5 places). i suggest tequila taco if you feel like authentic mexican, on st laurent and sherbrooke, if you like tacos and tequila. theres a lot, although retaurants on the upper plateau, til little italy, full of really delicious treats. a lot of latin, french, or ethnic food. theres really too many to name. of course theres china town, and little italy... all in all, if you walk up st denis, youll find a good restaurant too. that street also has some funkyish shopping.

really good pub food and affordable drinks would be irish embassy on bishop. and brutopia, on crescent, who make their own beers, with seasonals such as cherry wheat, maple, and chocolate stouts,. theres also dieu du ciel on laurier which i fucking, absolutely recommend as a microbrewerie. they make, vanilla stout and its amazing(they also serve foods). theres also saint bock which makes really good food, and their own beer on st denis. they have amazing honey beer. theres the st ambroise brewerie that has a bar, they make apricot and pumpkin beers, as well as other standard types.

if you like hiphop, wednesday nights at salon officiel, and the big beers are 5$ lol. i think theres also saturday at bluedog. but meh. if youre more a punk rocker type, check out katacombs,(st laurent) or foufounes electric. theres also ladies night at foufs for 4$ on thursday and your lady gets 4 free drinks. tuesday night is 5$ pitchers, and generally beers are dirt cheap, between 1-3$. get there early, there's lines. its a bit of a younger crowd though. on sunday and monday, or tuesday, theres sainte elizabeth, on ste elizabeth, that has 4-5$ pints.

theres also the ns office on st laurent street :P if you feel like egging your favorite website.

Great post by Jenifa, but one thing you guys need to check out is schwartz's smoked meat on St-Laurent. Infamous small little place that has some legendary smoked meat sandwiches. Get some sandwiches with some pickles and a cherry coke and you're set!

Have fun!

shawrtz is great , if you have a lot of money and want to get laid and like steak go to la queue de cheval on de la montagne

if youre a musician, make it out to Steves musique. unreal shop, probably my favorite that I've ever been to

Check out http://www.themainmtl.com

It's an online magazine that my friend's brother runs. It basically showcases and reviews all the cool, young, and trendy restaurants, events, and stores in Montreal. It's really awesome, show them some love because they are just starting out.
