who knows what the top sheets of fun boxes are made out of, my friends and i are making one and we need to know what to put on the top.

 
you can use Plexi-glass, but is will scratch up and burr. They sometimes use something like a PVC sheet.

arberite (what they use on top of counters) works perfectley. the only problemo is that the $ is a little steep, but if you have some lying around, like my friends dad did, then go for it.

look for this shit called skate lite or something.. they use it for x games skate parks.. its hella stong and wouldnt be bad for a small piece

just use file cabinets...they work well, or a metal surfacing like that

skatelite is like fiberboard, i dunno about that one. lexan, pvc, plexiglass will all work well. or sheetmetal

 
you can also just screw pvc piping to the edges....it works pretty well, but for sheets you can buy pvc sheets and for the ammount ud need itd run for under 20 bux.....just go to home depot and tell them what you need theyll hook u up

 
Skatelite is what you skate on in halfpipe and park, its grippy so that you can skate and accelerate easier without killing yourself, you don't slide all that well on it.

im also building a box i have like 225 $ to build one i dunno how long i can make it with that much money and i dont know what to use for a topsheet and i dont know where to get a top sheet

lexan, thats what we used on ours last season and it was pretty tight and slid nice

here my top 3... 3.plexi glass 2.Lexan and number 1. puck board.... puck board is the best its what they use in hockey boards and im pretty sure they use it for boxes on ski hills

whistler/blackcomb uses puckboard for all their boxes and those slide so nicely, i'd suggest using that

Okay, my sister and brother and me built a box 2 weeks ago. We used lexan for the topsheet and it slides AMAZING!! It's hella expensive though, i think they paid $80 for a 3' x 6' sheet of it. But, your edges don't cut into it. The only time anyone every caught was when my friend hit it with his BRAND NEW never used mad trix. Once he dulled the edges out a little he was fine.

Go with lexan.

Oh, and we got our sheet of lexan at Home Depot. Im sure lowes has them too! Here is a picture of our box, i'll get a video of us sliding it up hopefully in a couple hours.

the high quality ski resorts dont use lexan because lexan will dent or chip. they use some material (i forget the name) but its like plexiglass. its called something like highly compressed something something. but its fucking expensive. and i know this because i met a guy who built the rails for some ski resorts in CO and thats what he said. but for personal use, your best bet is lexan
