i know there are tons of threads on full tilts but please go with me. My dad doesnt like the fact that i'm looking into full park specific boots (hot dogger), and wants me to get a more all around boot so i m thinking about the classics. I went to a bootfitter today and tried them both on and what i noticed was that i could feel tightness in the heel of the classic, but not the hottdogger because of its thinner liner in that area, question 1.when i heatmold classic will i nolonger feel the tightness? question 2. what is the "bootboard", difference between rigid and active, question 3. what does the Flex 6 stiffness translate into a normal flex rating i.e. 100,120 etc. question 4. if i want to get into eastcoast tree skiing and even if i move out west and start pow skiing is the classic good for that?
 
1. The tightness would most likely go away. Before I heatmolded intuitions to my foot, there were some pressure points, but after, it felt awesome.

2. The active bootboard has a pad to absorb landings while the rigid bootboard is just a hard plastic so it gives better feel for the snow.

3. Full Tilts flex differently then regular boots, and the stiffness scale isn't universal. But I would guess somewhere between 90-100 give or take some.

4. Any of the boots would be fine for that, you just might want a stiffer flex than 6 for better power transfer to the skis.

If you think the Hot Dogger fits better, get that. The Hot Dogger may be marketed as a park specific boot, but it can just as easily be used for all mountain as the Classic. The only difference performance wise is that the Hot Dogger comes with the Pro Liner while the Classic comes with the Performer Liner, and the Pro Liner is Full Tilts highest performing liner. Other than that, the other two differences are the bootboard which costs either $25 or $15 to replace depending on which boot you get, and the fact that the Hot Dogger is a little bit roomier. Also, if your dad doesn't like that silly tongue on the Hot Dogger, you can easily take it off.
 
u ovesly didnt do any research, the classics and hotdoggers are the exact same boot............same flex,same liner same every thing............

they have different boot boards, and different liners, as was already said. although i only have experience with the pro liner, ive heard it's much better. it also is a little sturdier so the hotdogger should feel a little stiffer than the classic, even tho the tongues are the same rating. I would think the hotdogger is actually better for powder and off piste because it should be stiffer, but its more of a preference thing.
 
1. Heat molding the liner will push that area out therefore relieving the tightness

2. The active boot board has rubber in it to shock absorb, the rigid boot board is just that, a rigid piece of plastic, it will allow you to have a better feel of the snow.

3. There IS a difference in the #6 flex of the Classic and the Hot Dogger - notice how for the Classic it says "Dual Density #6 Flex" and notice the black part on the otherwise green tongue. Basically it's ever so slightly stiffer there (probably about a 7 or even an 8 FT flex in that spot), this allows for the boot to be stiffer in the spot that gets the most flexing. As far as translating, that really hard to do.

4. Both boots would be fine for EC trees and even powder - plus, you can always buy a new tongue that has a stiffer flex (just go for the 10 if you're gonna do it), and other accessories (like a new boot board) and customize your boot based on what you're going to be doing that day.

Not sure why I wrote all this out since there's a picture of Hot Doggers on your FB, but I figure someone else might have similar questions.
 
Ask your boot fitter to mold the liner to your foot it's not like it cost money (at least at my store they dont.) I have the classic with the active foot board and they work great for everything
 
personally its a pretty simple fix, yea it might not do the full job but you dont have to loose the looks, just get the hot doggers and buy another set of tounges

Heel inserts to adjust forward lean, and the ankle inserts - I can't remember what they do, I don't use either personally.
