Full tilts, foot beds and liners

I've got some older (2015 maybe?) full tilt dropkicks that never came with a foot bed. I was seeing the newer full tilts all have foot beds, was wondering if I could upgrade the liner and would that give me the ability to have a foot bed? And if so is it worth it? Was looking at the intuition pro wrap liners. But also see on the full tilt website they have their j-bar performance / pro liners so does any liner work or just the full tilt liners?

These boots have been treating me pretty good, though I feel lately my left foot has been falling asleep sometimes and it's probably not good. Generally though they are pretty harsh early season or if I haven't used them in a while, but after they're warmed up are as comfy as can be. Was thinking maybe getting new liners and going to see what a bootfitter can do could solve the problem. Or maybe I just get Dalbello Kryptons. Or just stop bitching. Idk.

Mine didn’t come with footbeds either, they came with stupid thin foam spacers that they like to call footbeds. I have SOLE footbeds in all my boots, with the FT liners you can go to your fitter and just remold the liner to the new footbeds when you get them, cheaper and easier than buying a whole new liner IMO.

I think hes talking about the older FT liners that didn't have a normal sole. It was just liner all around your foot so it wasn't easy to put a footbed in. Kinda hard to explain but I had a couple pairs like that but the new liners all have the flat sole part to put a footbed.

Yeah I don't have shit except for the rubber thing below the liner. Nothing between my feet and the liner. No foam spacer or nothing.

No yeah I know, some of my older ones definitely didn’t have anything except liner either. You can still stick a footbed in there and remold them and they’ll be fine, but they have to be remolded if you want them to fit right.

Scheduled an appointment with the boot fitter. Will see how it goes. Probably would be stupid to buy anything without getting things checked first.

I had First Chair 10s from 2017 which didn't come with footbeds either, just foam under your feet/bottom of the liner like you and others have mentioned. I had footbeds in mine (off the shelf Sidas) and while it definitely improved the response and control of my boot/skis, the fit felt different almost every day. Might be in my head but even after heat molding, I still think all that foam underneath would settle differently each day dependent on temperature and moisture.

Some of Intuition's aftermarket liners (NOT Full Tilt's) have foam along the bottom as well, and some don't. They also come in various stiffness and thicknesses and are not lasted to any specific boot on the market, so your bootfitter really needs to know how the liner is going to compress and mold based on your shell fit.

Me personally I would just buy another pair of FT liners now that they don't have any foam underneath, and are lasted for their boots, but hopefully your bootfitter can assess your situation properly and get you taken care of. I don't think it'll require you getting new boots unless your shells are completely wasted.

Ended up going to the boot fitter today and paid out the ass but my boots are totally comfortable now.

Ended up with custom footbeds which do work in the liners apparently, getting the boot punched out a bit and getting the liners heat molded.

Foot beds are totally worth the money and you can carry them with you onto your next boots

Won’t be seeing much more replacement parts for fulltilts, so if you’re gonna get them now is the time

I think K2 would be absolutely silly to kill the classic 3 piece boot. I think it'll just get rebranded as K2's. Buuuut better buy some extra soles latches and cables just to be safe :)

I actually asked them this, this is how I justified spending so much on my relatively cheap boots haha.

Oh yeah one thing that was funny, first thing he did was remove the spacer on the calves, he said it was for people with narrow calves lmao I weigh well over 200 lbs and my calves are very much not narrow.

If you're looking for footbeds but don't feel like spending $100-$150 on custom ones, I highly recommend Patriot Footbeds. Shoot Craig a note describing any issues you're experiencing and he'll point you in the right direction - he sells all kinds of after-market products aimed at resolving various boot issues. Plus, I found that his $50 footbeds out performed my custom ones from surefoot. A few of his products resolved some issues I was experiencing in old boots which helped me get an extra two seasons out of them. Might even help you avoid the need to purchase new boots/liners!

Good work getting the custom footbeds, they are by far the best investment you can make for any boot.

In terms of spares there will be no shortage. Full Tilt parts will be available until they are sold out and we will have the equivalent of everything Full Tilt from K2 and all parts are interchangeable. So you can use Full Tilt parts on K2 and K2 on full tilt. No need to panic buy, but if you want to help sell out everything Full Tilt this year i'm also not complaining ;)

Ah shit only $100-$150 for customs? God dammit I hate the bay area sometimes. Precisely one good boot fitter and I guess they can charge whatever tf they want.

What's done is done though. My boots are comfy but I can tell my poor sacramento friends to look into the patriots.

See people? The Raichle Flexon lives on!

The FT site's pretty low on parts, at least for the more common sizes. I'm doubtful due to the supply chain issues, but will there be a reup this season?

Pretty sure they are low due to supply chain issues, seems like they haven't gotten full shipments yet.

Yes we are still waiting on some parts to arrive and then get out of the warehouse.

Why didn't you just get new boots and footbeds? Most places include the boot work free on new boots. Not trying to induce regret- just curious why do all this on 5-7yr old boots.

The custom footbeds were a majority of the money, and yeah the money I spent on the heat molding and punching out the boots was all pretty much down the drain compared to getting a new boot. But I can keep the footbeds going to another boot so it wasn't all a waste. They don't give you free custom footbeds with new boots, but they will do the rest of it for free if you bought the boots there.

However the shop I went to doesn't sell Full Tilts. Nobody around here does anymore (Bay area / Tahoe). I was asking the guy about Dalbellos, which is what he actually rides on, but I was swayed towards keeping the Full Tilts because he was saying I have the right foot for it since the full tilts were a bit of a wider platform. So if I got new full tilts I'd be stuck paying for the adjustments anyways. Would have to go to Evo in Portland or something if I wanted free adjustments and a proper fitting.

Plus, I like my boots. Have always liked them. They are still in pretty good shape, got a higher flex tongue, newish soles, a new buckle and cable. And they are a pretty sick highlighter yellow color.

Ah makes sense now. Well have fun on em this year.

Edit: I hate typos

Wait until next season and hopefully some of the shops which sell K2 (many more sell K2 than FT) will now carry the boots :)
