Full tilt pain?

I was messing around in my backyard today and the bottom of my feet started to hurt really really bad. i have drop kicks that are heat molded and i dont know why this is happening.it hurts in the front part of my feet. i had to take them off it hurt so much. thanks for the help

You might have the bottom buckle done up too tight. It just has to be done up enough that you can still push it down lightly with your pinky. The buckle itself doesn't do much as the middle one holds your foot in place.

Sometimes boots take a couple sessions to break in every season, as the liner expands a little over the summer and your feet aren't as used to being conformed to the shape of a shell. Give it a couple more times skiing, and if the pain continues, then you should be wondering. Do you have footbeds? Full tilts come stock without footbeds and as a result have very litte arch support. The shape of the full tilt last fits my foot perfectly, but last year I was having the exact same type of pain you're describing, like a foot cramp. I picked up some conformables from evo and it was instantly fixed. Granted, the first couple days of every season will still hurt your feet, that should take care of it, assuming you don't already have them. For boot advice, I'd recommend talking to the member onenerdykid.https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/members/profile/member_id/134699/
I believe he's the boot tech dude for the Atomic team, and he's always spewing out great advice in boot threads. I would believe anything he tells you over most people on this site. Hope this helps.

How long have you had them?

How long did you have them on in the shop?

How tight are you setting them to?

How many more questions should I ask?

people need to remember that a boot constricts in the cold, it will always be tighter out on the hill then in the shop

This. Amongst doing other things correctly, everyone should have a nice pair of aftermarket footbeds (arch support) in their boots. Your flexible foot will twist and move and cramp up inside the boot without them. Do yourself a favor and get fitted for a pair of footbeds.

Also, do not buckle your toe buckles super tight. If a boot fits you properly, the toe buckles should be loose, only tight enough to close the water sealing.

Yeah, I had the same problem with my foot for my SPK's. I have a huge arch, so go to some special foot store, and what they did to me is take my boot size, molded the exact shape of my feet, and after I had a new sole to slip into my boot. Works like a dream, spend the extra 100$ or so that's how much mine cost.

Hi, I have FT

Hot Dogger 2011/12 (Flex 6) about 3 months. The boots are really great and suit

me perfectly. But when I jump a few hours in a park or BC I always get pains in the

left leg (I have marked the place of pains yellow on the picture in

attachment). The pains are really bad and I cannot jump after that about a week

or so. If I just ski without jumping I don’t get any pains. I have also noticed

that sometimes I land a little bit wrong placing my weight back and not to the

front. But I believe that such an expensive boot should protect my legs despite

these mistakes… Why do I get these pains? What do you think is the

problem? I love the boots and I really don’t want to change them. Maybe the

change of the flex will solve the problem?

Most likely since you're just landing back seat. All your force is going into that one spot in your leg. Stop landing back seat is a god start. I can also suggest looking into something like a Booster strap. It makes the top part of your boot much snugger and closer to your leg, something that the stock FT strap lacks

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I try to land correctly :) I don't think the Booster can help... I just tried to find some light plastic protectors for the legs, but couldn't find anything. I have ordered the ace of space boots today. They have a special protections.

Dont order a boot because it has special protectors, it might not fit your foot properly. Go see a boot fitter. There has to be an easier way to fix the pain. Did you get fitted to begin with?

I did not get fitted. You will not believe but we don't have any boot fitter in Hamburg :) I will find one in a week during my travel to Andorra and will try to find a solution. But I don't think that fitting will help - the liners are just too thin and don't protect me by the wrong landings :(

Then wear thicker socks.

Seriously. Try a booster strap. It closes the top of the boot much tighter, your leg won't rattle around as much. It helps.

I know of the problem, I got a booster strap, everything got tightened up, and the problem went away.

Booster strap - $45

Nordica Space of Aids - $500

Instead of assuming the Nordica boot will work, try the strap.

It Won't. Plus, you have no idea how that boot fits your foot. There are ways you can improve your boot and reduce your pain that don't involve buying a boot because it looks soft. The Ace of Spades liner is really soft and fuzzy, but that's all I noticed when I was trying them on. No extra protection.

there is no boot out there that will correct YOUR bad form and YOU landing backseat, want to get rid of the pain? stop landing backseat. problem solved.

Yes, certainly you both are right! I understand that the main problem is my bad technique. But its not my first boot. Last year I had a normal fischer soma progressor and no pains on that place (but a lot of other problems with it :))). I will try the booster first and buy a new tongue with Flex 8... hope it helps. Thank you for your advices!

I hadpain where you describe using full tilts. It may not be backseat riding. The spoiler on the clasic is very narrow and dug into my calf. Boots like the SPK and dead money help this as they have the soft rear spoiler. But as said before do not buy a boot without trying it on. Wait untill you get to Andora and buy somthing there.

this might sound completely retarded but I will say it anyway. So I rode my fulltilts for about one month and was having shin bang and my ankles were swelling up and what not and I was so mad on buying such expensive boots(second pair of $500 boots) I was almost ready to go back to snowboarding...So I just started trying random things and now I have solved my problems.First,I put the sole of a rollerblade liner inside(lots of arch support),then I re-moulded my liners, and finally I shortened the top cable(put it on the last notch on the cuff). All these little things have greatly improved the performance of my boots and made me a much happier skier.Seriously guys, don't buy a new boot without trying to work out the problem before hand...You could possibly be throwing ALOT of money away.

^This is very true, but if you get the boots fitted by a bootfitter all that will be done straight away for you, and your boots should be fairly comfy from day one.

and alot of people get shin bang from their shin moving around in the boot and don't even know it...Usually people thinks its the boots fault but really you have to tighten the boot. You really need lots of ankle hold and lots of shin/calf hold in the boot otherwise prepare for pain.

The problem

is that the boot fitters work mostly with the boots which I don’t like. I would

like to have the light boots with Shock Eraser… I got my Nordica today and they

fit. I like them but I like FT more:) (the Nordica boots creak :)). I’ve paid

for Ace of spades only 280€. And it’s a good price to get no more pain. I will

fit the liner next days. I have tried the booster by FT, no result. But I will

not sell my FT, I will try to find a solution. But I need the boots to jump without

pain NOW (the next 4 weeks I will ski in Andorra and Austria) and I don’t have

time to tune the FT boots. I will do it during the summer in snow park… Maybe I

just use the liner from Nordica by FT boots ;)

oh... no! I have just weigh Nordica and my FT! FT: 4 kg both boots, Nordica: 5,4 kg! Its crazy -even my old fischer boots were lighter than nordica!

I will test the boot in andorra one week. If I don't like it or it does not fit, I will sell it and just leave the back spoiler/protector for my FT boots :)

Great boot - I like nordica! I have tested the boot one week - no pains at all! The only problem - they are really heavy! But if I jump from the kicker it doesn't matter. Its just difficult to jump without kicker...Skiing on the slopes and in BC is really better with this boot... But I will not sell my FT, I will try to find a solution.

So I have tried everything. I was twice by a Full Tilt bootfitter who has adjusted the boot, I have also bought the new tongue with flex 8. But I have still the pains :(... I always feel the pains on the place of the 3rd left buckle after one day in a park. I will sell the boot :(

Has the Seth Morrison boot the same construction as the Hot dogger? Maybe if I buy this boot I will not have the pains? The Nordica Ace of Spades boot is not bad but sometimes is really too heavy...

I olso had a pretty similar situation. First I've bought the full tilt Classic 29,5 for only 99 euro which was a really great deal btw. I bought this boot while thinking it was around the same size as my older spk boots olso 29,5. After a full day at testing them at the indoor snowpark in The Netherlands (snowworld landgraaf) I've concluded that there too small but is was a matter of milimeters for my toes which hurt a bit too much. I've sold the boots for 170 euro here on NS, so nice profit. I knew that I only needed a halve size up and bought this years Seth Morissons boots for 180euro, this time size 30. The seths are a bit stiffer for freestyle (flex8) than the classics but doable.

They should arrive somewhere next week.

Just to let you know you have actually gone up a full size not half a size. There are no half sizes in ski boots for length. Make sure you go to a bootfitter before you ski the boots, that way if there too big, you can just sell them before you ski in them. Always go with the smallest boot you can, you can always make a boot bigger, but you cant shrink them.

Got them tested and approved at the indoor slopes. I went from 29,5 to 30 so shell size goes up. Just out of curiosity is it possible to make your ski boots bigger if there to small?

Yes its very easy to make Boots bigger. Like for example your old boots, you could have had the toe box stretched, the liners packed out or got some footbeds. If your new boots turn out to be too big, there's not much you can do. Always get boots smaller rather then larger.

Yeaaah! I have solved the problem. I have just took the back protection shells from nordica boots and put them into my FT :))) no pains any more!!!

Agree. I used experience pain in the exact spot your talking about in my T-walls. I now ride my buckles semi loose with strap tight as possible.. Try it.

fuck dude, if your going to make a thread asking for advice why not take the advice inside of just buying boots you like the colour of all the time?

hey certainly I have tried everything, every advise! thank you all for helping!!! and I have tested the boots 2 or 3 days in a park or on a mountain... but the best solution was to use small nordica shells in my ft boots.
