Full Tilt Hot Dogger Vs. Full Tilt Classic

Looking to get some insight on the main differences between the two boots. My shop is sold out of the Hot Doggers, and the closet boot according to the Full Tilt website and the boot specs chart is the Classic. Other than the liner, and the Footboard, is there much of a difference between the two. Anyone got some supported information rather than what I can just read online. Thanks!

i think the flex on the tongue is different with the classic. if you already know what size youre getting, why not just get the hot doggers online?

Because it would be a sin to not buy from his local shop? You are whats wrong with this industry.

because they dont have the boot he wants? i wouldnt get the wrong boot just because i wanted to stay loyal to my local shop.

other than the foot bed and liner as you said, the only difference is the spoiler (i think thats what its called?) the hot dogger has a rubber/padded bit at the back (were the boots sit on your calf) and maybe tongue has a stiffer flex but you could change that yourself you can also buy the foot beds on there own

There are 3 differences...

#1 (and the most obvious...and least important) The color/design of the boot

#2 The boot board, Hot Dogger has active, shock absorbing boot board, Classic has rigid, more responsive boot board

#3 The flex, the Hot Dogger is a standard #6 flex (medium flex), the Classic has a STIFFER #6, the middle of the tongue (where the instep meets the ankle - some of the images you'll see of the tongue have a black section there, some don't) is about a #8 flex, while the rest of the tongue is a #6, it's a medium-stiff flex (I tend to refer to it as a "#7" flex cause it's not a #6, but not a #8 either)

They BOTH have the Pro Liner.

you are dumb. he can still get the classic ans just switch the tongues to a flex 4 or whatever.

NEVER BUY BOOTS ONLINE!

Okay. Thats quite helpful. I ride 85% percent park throughout my season. I'm coming from a Salomon SPK Kaos. Do you think the Classic will still be soft enough for a park specific rider? I really like the fit and flex on the Hot Doggers, if the difference is quite noticeable when I'll be riding in the boot then I will stick with the Hot Doggers, if not I will go with the Classic because my shop can get it and its slightly less expensive. What do you think? Thanks!

If you're coming from an SPK maybe you should reconsider what type of boot you're getting. The Hot Dogger and Classic are both skinnier boots. You should go to the shop and try some stuff on instead I think.

Yes, that has already been done. The 99 mm last the Full Tilts fit my feet the best, I had alot of problems with my SPK's primarily due to the size of them being 1 size to big, but also because the boot didn't fit my foot as well as the Full Tilt's are.

so you are telling me if my shop charges $550 for a pair of hot doggers but evo (for sake of argument) charges $350 that i should buy from my shop? i am not sure what they do at your shop when you ask to try on a pair of size 28 hot doggers but i am fairly certain it is not worth the additional $200. I can see if you the employee knows what he is doing and assists me i might be willing to purchase from him. at my shop it is usually some uneducated teen that just walks into the back and grabs the size i want and watches me try it on and says how does those feel. i have bought boots from my shop in the past but if i find a better deal online there is no way i am going to pass it up to support my shop. i am sorry if anyone is offended (if you are feel free to rape my karma to make you feel better) but i am an university student and at the current cost of tuition an extra $100 for already expensive boots is not a something i wish to partake in

Well thanks to MAP for the ski industry online dealers can't sell below a certain price and that price is what your shop should be charging aswell, the only way Evo would be cheaper would be if it was last years model in which MAP isn't in effect anymore.

So dont pretend to know what you are talking about, for the sake of argument. I have been in this industry for a long time.

i may not know what i am talking about but at least i am not a sucker paying full price for boots from my shop. i doubt you are either because you have probably been working in a ski shop for the past 10 years of your life.

if consumers are not willing to purchase boots anywhere either than their local shop they are going to get fucked over because the shop knows they can overcharge and people will still buy them because they want to be loyal to their local shop. i would much rather jump on NS and pick up a pair of boots for a fraction of the price.

agree to disagree merry christmas

i agree with you 100% my shop stocks nothing and they charge 35 for just ordering something not includeing shipping

The benefit of purchasing a boot at a shop is largely due to the bootfitting that you will get for free, or significantly discounted. When I used to fit boots, I charged 55 an hour to punch and grind, if you didnt buy them there, it was 85. People are willing to spend the extra money to be comfortable in their boots.

Go to a different shop? Any store that charged $35 for a special order is out of their minds. Shipping, i can understand, but I typically didnt charge for shipping, as a thank you for ordering through me.

only shop for a 3.5 hour radius and they do not do bootfitting... when you say your looking for boots they simply use the size chart and go on your foot size... it sucks

yeah thats all they did when I went into like 3 shops. I was going to go to vermont to ski and get fitted at the ski rack but i don't think i'm going anymore. so i guess i'll have to do this on my own.

wow this thread went crazy!

but just giving my 2 cents. I have the classic and i really like them. and the dual flex tongue is still super soft for park, but doesnt feel horrid when riding anywhere else. the ridged boot board makes the boots a bit easier to maneuver but makes deep landings a but more painful!

all in all, good boot if you want to do a bit of everything!
