Fuji x100s

Seems pretty rad, and for sure something geared towards the way I want to shoot. All in a small package too so that's helpful.

Anyone have any experience using this thing? What's it like compared to shooting with a Canon SLR? My guess is; it's a completely different experience.

I don't have any experience with it, but I'd also look at the X100. At half the price of the x100s, it's still about 80% the camera.

Thanks for all the input guys!

I ended up not going with the X100s or even a new camera, just upgraded lenses to get what I was going after.

Tested out the x100s and it was awesome from the brief try out but just too different in terms of being mirror-less, and I don't know but the size or something about the shape got me; which is almost a weird complaint but hey personal preferences right?

Definitely still in my sights for when I have the money to throw at a new toy.

The X100/s cameras are awesome for high quality, travel/street/general purpose photogtography. They don't have the capabilities to do as much as interchangeable lens cameras, but for what they are, they're basically the best.

As much as I'd want one, I'd probably go with an Olympus EP2 or whatever and a 17mm for half the price of even the x100... Same portability, but you can change the lenses. (add on optical VF isn't too bad, either, nor are the EVF's)

But you also get a smaller sensor size...

OP: I have an x100s and love it. It is definitely different than my 5D but in a good way. Handles like a dream with amazing quality! Worth it for sure. What lenses did you end up with?

What, you're telling me you can't get bokeh on a m4/3 sensor? Get out... take the 17mm f2.8 lens for example. You shoot that at a subject 5 feet away wide open, and you only have like 2 1/3 feet worth of depth of field. Is it as creamy blown out? No, but Who cares, you don't buy one of these so you can show off your bokeh, anyway.

There's actually plenty of situations where I'd rather have a much smaller sensor than my full frame sensor - IE: when you are trying to get multiple things into focus in the dark, but need to shoot wide open or close to wide open in order to expose something hand held.

On a m4/3 camera, you'll get much deeper depth of field in any case. For run and gun street shooting in cities and such, that can be the difference between having your subject in focus or not.

Granted, i'm comparing a full frame sensor to a m4/3. The difference is much less between a 1.5x crop and a 2x crop, anyway.
