Fujative review

So, I got my Fujatives today and mounted 'em up.

Be warned that everything contained within is my opinion. If you disagree or don't like it, fuck off.

That said, they're worth the money I paid for them. They're not superb skis, they have strong points and weak points just like every other ski, they're above average, but by the hype on here you'd think that they're gods gift to skiing, which they're not. They're another really good twin, specifically park.

The Ski:

The mounting point is incredibly forward. It's not quite a true twin, but it's close. It's very solidly constructed with beefy edges and a bombproof-looking cap. I will say this several times through the review, but buy these long. Buy them very long. I got a 179 and I still feel like they're short because there's so much tail. I would easily ski a 185 or possibly even bigger on this ski. The flex is unlike anything I've ever been on. It is soft enough to pull out a landing you didn't quite stomp, but it never seemed flimsy or floppy, and the snow was very very hard today.

Park:

Very smooth taking off and landing. I mean *very* smooth. Landing, they're incredible. You can sketch the hell out of anything and pull it off. I over/underrotated several times, and I was able to pull it out every time. They're very lightweight and never feel burdensome in the air. Rails, I mean meh... any ski feels pretty much the same on rails.

Out of the park:

Why are you reading this section? This ski wasn't made for out of the park! If you wanted an all-mountain twin, you would have gotten the Public Enemy, right? Right?

Anyway, it's acceptable. It's extremely quick edge to edge, which surprised me since it is pretty wide underfoot, wide enough that I had to bend my brake to get my bindings to fit. It doesn't like mach-speed long turns, but this thing rips off short-radius turns almost at the pace of a slalom ski. It's really nice in the bumps, the lightweight feel and catlike reflexes makes it easy to adjust the ski if your line moves suddenly. I took it down a competition run and thought I was in heaven, it really is a fun bump ski.

By the way it skis, I think it would handle very well in powder. It's wide enough and soft enough to float.

Now to the part I didn't like. It's a very nervous ski. I felt like I was constantly in danger of catching an edge if I wasn't on edge. That's probably what allows you to pull out landings so much, but it's slightly unnerving to get up to speed and have your skis catching an edge. This could have been the conditions too, the snow was very hard today. But it feels like even in softer snow, it would still feel nervous. Now, if you're a good skiier, you'll be able to feel it catching and correct it, but if you're an intermediate, you may bail a few times due to no fault of your own.

So yeah. I've skied almost every other twin out there, so if you have questions or comparisons, ask.

your review was awesome, but i have a question. i live in the midwest and i ski crappy conditions, mostly in the park and pipe. some trees and groomers. would this in your mind would the fujatives be better than the public enemys?

also how does the size of the fujatives compare with the PEs? are they bigger, smaller, or about the same? have you tried them in the pipe?

good review, i agree completely

Dont get gloves though, gloves are out. just use a cigarette to keep your hands warm.

only disagreement I have is that they are NOT light skis, they felt like bricks after switching from Tweaks. I have Rossi Pro 100 bindings which are not heavy either. Compare them to Tweaks, Pocket Rockets, 1080s, or any twin out there and I think you'll find them quite a load. HOWEVER, the weight was never an issue for me, and I think the weight actually helped them spin smoother, butter better, and give it that nice take off and landing stability.

japanada: I'm in the midwest as well, and I got them to ski park on. If you ski more than 50% park, my opinion would be to get the Fujative. If you ski less than 50% park, it would be to get the PE. If you're going to get a twin from K2, that is.

Fujative: 113-85-104

PE: 113-80-104

I didn't get to ski the pipe, since our pipe is not yet set up (hopefully this weekend) and I suck at pipe anyway.

nos: I meant to say lightweight feel... they aren't necessarily physically light, but they feel and react very quickly.

great review! i think this will convince my parents that i should by this ski.

you know what im sayin'

Yes, the do feel like paper weights when you ride them, but when you carry them out to the car, i'd pay a good 5 bucks to have someone else do it for me

your review was sick. i'm also thinking of getting the fujative in 179. i think i'm going to wait till the end of the year to see if i can get em for really cheap. does anyone know where you can find em for less than $300?

^^

They're a little heavier cuz they're wood core... K2's been doing wood core, triax glass on their skis forever, that's what they use on these too... they're not the lightest things in the world, but they don't break and they're great skis... as I said, it doesn't seem to me that they feel heavy in the air at all, and I used to be on a pair of 1260s.

Great Review but i have to ask your opinion. I dont have much money to spend so should i get Fuajtives, PE's , or Scratches. I ski mostly park because i live in Michigan but i am going to Colorado in Feb.,but i probably wont go there again for a while because im the only skier in my family. So give me your opinion.

^sounds like the fujative for you. it's the cheapest and most park-oriented

i totally agree with the statement 'You can sketch the hell out of anything and pull it off' its so true, you jsut throw yourself off any jump and it feels like you can land it, there solid skis, very agressive turning too, not bombproof tho at all. my topsheet already has nice gashes out of it......

i dont know about the fujatives, but after swtiching from 1080s, I find the PEs and my Pistols really light, especially for their size. I couldn't ask for anything better.

I feel bad for people who don't drink, cause when they wake up in the morning, thats the best the're going to feel all day

I'd just like to say the part about nervousness was just a matter of getting used to the ski... it flexes so much differently than any other ski out there that I just wasn't carving it right. I've been out several times since the review and modified my skiing to the ski, and it's as stable as anything else now.

The tail flex on these are pretty insane too for butters. When on them this weekend, I wanna try to tail press a fun box...be progressive.

See, if they are so soft in the tails, isnt that bad for landings? I mean if you land backseat they'll just flex like mad and then you'll wash out. A stiffer ski like Armadas or 4frnts will have much more solid landings that a soft ski like these or Lines.

Yea, I bet you do, but I bet you could ski a 169 alot better. The 179's on me just seemed to tail away from me when I would try to lay the over.

nine milla:

Like I said, you have to ski 'em to understand it. The flex is really different, it's really forgiving, but I don't think I'd classify it as a really soft ski, because soft skis don't hold an edge well, and this holds even on ice.

Don't listen to anybody, the Fujative is the best park ski when considering bang for the buck. You get a ton of bangin', which is what it's all about with girl and skis.

i switched skis wit my friend who has 169 fujatives(i ride scogens) and they felt really heavy. like really heavy. but that could just be because line makes really light skis.

hey man im like 5'4'' is a 169 to big for me in the fujatives or is that good considering what you said about buying them big?

Doesn't k2 measure their ski's running length instead of actual length? What would the conversions be?

hmmmm u said turns like a slalom ski? hahhahaha yeah right well they turn nuthin like my sl race skis and catch and edge wow u must only ski park eh? but sickk review other than those points.
