Fucking Re-Directs

Is anyone else tired of watching an urban video with endless amounts of the same damn rail to redirect?

Yeah im sure they're hard, i know i cant do them, i just dont want to watch them over and over and over and over and over and over again. AND THEYRE BORING TO WATCH.

Same goes with those damn close out rails with a drop off. "woah another back 4! Didnt see that one coming!"

Absolutly agree everybody copied stetp guys and no more innovation in urban shots, redirects are fun but right now theyre in too many edits and video segments , look at robin romera superunknown finalist , really amazing urban shoots that why he make it to the finals

haha yup, neats a good word

I just call that a tranny find, because its a transition you find. You could also call that a landing...

Re-direct makes me feel like I'm in an airport and my flight got canceled.

i like watching them almost more than seeing people actually do tricks on urban rails. It seems as though the challenge with re-directs is to ski the feature and thats the goal whereas with a flat rail or something its all about doing tricks onto and off of the rail. IMO park tricks have always seemed a bit wierd to me because its a lot about acrobatics and less skiing. I feel like simply skiing the most difficult features is way cooler the doing the most difficult tricks on the easiest features.

isn't a redirect when you hit a rail and then do a 180 into a wall that's 90° to the rail, meaning you still land forward (first you went one way, redirect, still going forward but the other way)

anyways I think what OP points out is kinda weird regarding the fact that there are just a lot more people since Mutiny trying urban, and those kind of tricks/features just appear to be hard&sick/frequent to find...

If I'm sick of anything it's mutegrabs lol

i am actually tired of these as well. also like really short rails to tranny. two huge trends in skiing

To all those saying "it's a trannyfind", well, you're right and wrong. They are not the same thing, a redirect is a kind of trannyfind. trannyfind can be in any direction relative to the rail or feature, whereas a redirect is directly opposed to the feature. The idea is that you have to absorb the instant "redirect" and you end up going back towards the direction you came from. It has nothing to do with facing forward or not, or a 180, but you can do a redirect with a spin or not and to switch or to forward, as long as you end up traveling in the opposite direction, back towards where you came from, it's a redirect.

OP, I do sort of agree. You see this sort of thing every year or two though where someone looks at what's possible in urban and evolves it and that evolution is adopted with zeal by others. We've seen it with one footers, presses, rail to rail transfers, closeouts, 50ing creepers, gapping and firecracking stairs, and a dozen other little trends in urban.

I do love seeing a huge, high consequence, high speed/impact redirect though. A lot you see though are pretty insignificant looking.

Closeouts are tight though. Especially like the Casabon blunt to pop over in I think either Eye Trip or Refresh.

redirects are sick but reverse tranny is often stupid imho. if you stop dead in your tracks on the landing then slowly ride down the "transition" it seems lame to me and completely defeats the point of transitions in the first place. there are exceptions, like if you actually carry speed through the hole thing, but most of the time reverse tranny shots seem like a gimmick

Guys guys guys... the more important issue here is that skiing desperately needs some terminology to replace this.

Hypothetical example of why this could be a problem:

"BroOoo yesterday I absolutely nailed a really burly tranny!"

"Ah swe3t bro, that's d0pe. I love spending a day doing nothing but finding trannys."
