how come black people can make fun of us for being white and call us crackers and shit but as soon as one white guy says whats up nigga he is in shit up to his eyeballs. the next time a black guy calls me a cracker i am going to pull out my nine and shot him jsut like if i called him a nigger
 
I agree with the guy that theres a difference between "nigga" and "nigger" but still think hes a fuckin idiot for even saying either of the two in his class to a black kid.

"Nigger" is bad though just because white people, especially white supremists like the KKK, have given it a negative connotation that is derogatory towards black people. And the fact that the word dates back to slavery where black people were tools in our society doesn't help.

haha the teacher has a point. the moment a black person calls another black person a nigger makes that word free to use for everyone.

white people dont go calling each other crackers but niggers have no problem calling eachother well niggers.

they should give the teacher a gun and the black person a whistle and have them fight to the death.
 
The problem with the word, is the fact that it was used in the same context as slave. Black slaves were often called "Niggers". White's enslaved blacks, so that is the problem with the word. It's not the fact that it's a black person and a white person.

If whites were enslaved for over 300 years by blacks, and they called whites crackers, I think we'd have a problem with it to.

BUT it is absolutely rediculous that blacks call each other the word. And there is no difference in the words "Nigger" and "Nigga". Thats like saying "Get out of here" and "Get outta here" mean 2 different things. That kid probably wouldn't have had a problem with it if one of his "Nigga" teammates called him the word. Clearly the teacher is just a straight up idiot, trying to act cool. I really don't think he's racist by any means. Even a hard core racist would not be stupid enough to call a student that. The kid just wants him to lose his job. I'd respect the kid more if he said something like "I just hope he learned the value and power of that word, and how it affects us."

You made good points there but I have to disgree with that one ^. There is a slight and intricate but still obvious difference between "nigger" and "nigga". Black people don't call each other niggers (except maybe if they're trying to insult one another), it's always nigga, am I right? It's always white people that call blacks niggers, and that does have a certain oppressive connotation.

I agree with the teacher that the word "nigga" isn't as loaded a word as "nigger", and it has become almost synonymous with "dude" etc. Even some (retarded) white guys call each other niggas. A while ago I was talking to this black exchange student from Canada at a school party, and at one point he called me a white boy or something to that effect (he was kidding), and in return I called him a nigga. He was a bit surprised I had the balls to call him that but he wasn't offended because he knew I'm not racist in any way. But if I'd said nigger instead, with the emphasis on the "er" part, I probably would have got my ass kicked. It's all about the context.

I don't know if that made any sense, it's kinda hard to explain with my somewhat less-than-perfect english.

But yeah, there's a difference.
 
^i agree with him. It definetly has two different meanings. And there definetly is a double standard that exists, an extremely obvious one. A black person could freely call a white kid a cracker and he says nothin, but the moment a white kid says nigga back, even if it wasnt ment in a degrating way, if he doesnt know the ppl he is around, he better get the fuck out of there fast.

I think your missing my point. Both words (if you think they are different) originate from the same root. I don't think blacks as a whole, collectively got together and decided that it was cool to replace "er" with "a". And now that word is acceptable to say amongst themselves.

By no stretch of the imagination am I racist, but it is rediculous that they use that word in reference to themselves. Notice you don't hear Jews calling each other "Crispies" or "gas-guzzlers". (For those jews out there, I mean absolutely no offense by that. I apologize, but only using it to make a point.)

I see your point, but you're just wrong. And of course I realise that they originate from the same word (duh). That's a given. And everybody knows the difference between ebonics and "white language" (duhhh). And you're definately missing my point. Of course the words "nigga" and "nigger" mean the same thing on paper, but it just doesn't work that way in real life. Those words do have different connotations and that's it. Read my post again, this time with some thought.

To them "Nigga" is black speech. When translated through black vernacular english. It comes out as "Nigger" in "white english". "Nigger" is the way a white person would say the word. So to them, hearing the word "Nigger" from anyone is an insult. This is perfectly understandable. I wouldn't like to hear a word either that was used to oppress my ancestors into slavery for hundreds or years.

But they should not be using the word amongst themselves. It's completely hypocritical. I have no problem allowing some black students into my university, even though they may not have "standard grades and SAT's scores". This is because I feel that the education in many black communities is sub par. Please do not demand things like afirmative action and reparations, when you embrace a word that is the product of racism and slavery.

This is not to say that every black in america uses the word "Nigga". Maybe you need to watch Coach Carter. It is the attitude of the majority of black america that is bringing them down as a whole. Society gives them many opportunites to succeed and pull themselves out of "da hood", and yet they will lower themselves to the roots of their inequality using the word "Nigga".
